Review: Kellogg's Special K Red Velvet Pastry Crisps
I'll admit that I have a love/hate relationship with products that are red velvet flavored and it's because of no real reason other than my stupidity. For the longest time, I though red velvet was its own thing. Not until later in life, while watching a Bobby Flay show on the Food Network, did I learn that red velvet is basically just chocolate dyed red. Somehow, I felt cheated by that. Yep, I'm a moron. Anyway, Kellogg's Special K has decided to add to their review history on this blog with another variation flavor of their Pasty Crisps line with this box of Kellogg's Special K Red Velvet Pastry Crisps that I was able to pick up on a very nice sale at Kroger for $1.99. Each box contains five packages of two crisps and each bar clocks in at 0.88 ounces with 100 calories and one gram of protein.

Review: Hershey's S'mores Pudding Cups
In my last Hershey's pudding review, I mentioned that I found it peculiar that they were getting involved in the pudding game and taking on some of the stalwarts. Despite that individual product being tasty, I was still questioning why these were in the store. Still, I was absolutely willing to try out this four pack of Hershey's S'mores Pudding Cups that I picked up in the same shopping trip for $2.50. Each campfire treat inspired pudding cup is 3.275 ounces and packs in 110 calories of artificial flavors. JELL-O also has a S'mores flavor, so this is clearly a shot across their bow.

Review: Ben & Jerry's Save Our Swirled Ice Cream
So we all know Ben & Jerry's can get creative with their names and my numerous reviews have shown that. What some of us know, but not all know, is that Ben & Jerry's is also a very socially and politically active company that advocates many causes such as world peace, climate initiatives, etc. Today's review of this pint of Ben & Jerry's Save Our Swirled Ice Cream is a flavor that they've put out to raise awareness of their Climate Movement. In order to do that, they've even put a cute missive on the flavor's webpage that states "SOS! It’s more than just a call to action: it’s a swirled-class flavor you can’t resist, and a climate change message you can’t ignore. If it’s melted, it’s ruined." I'll refrain from commenting on the issue itself (there's more detail on the site and also in my link above), but I can appreciate the creativity in the name and that brief missive. Anyway, the pint itself is the typical four half-cup servings and each serving is a somewhat economical (for Ben & Jerry's) 250 calories per serving. I picked this up on closeout at Kroger for $2.74, so I'm not sure how much longer it'll be on the shelves or if it is being transitioned out already.

Review: Klondike Rocky Road Ice Cream Bars
I haven't spent a lot of time looking at Klondike bars here on the blog because frankly, I'm not a huge ice cream bar guy. I like them, but I devour them way too quickly (multiples at once) and as a way to try to control myself, I do my best not to keep them in my freezer. Every now and then though, one of my local stores will offer a sale where they basically dare me to buy them and that's what Meijer did and it led me to pick up this package of six Klondike Rocky Road Ice Cream Bars for $1.99. Each of the six bars is 2.7 ounces and checks in at 230 calories, so you can see how I'd worry about these since I'm fully capable of eating multiples of these in one sitting and that's a huge calorie intake if done.

Review: EAS Lean 15 S'mores Bar
It's been a long, long (so long I said it twice) time since I took a look at an EAS product here in a review. Actually, it's been close to two years, so that is a really long time. Anyway, when I was ambling through my local Kroger recently, I noticed an EAS bar flavor that I had never seen before and quickly snatched up this EAS Lean 15 S'mores Bar for $1.49. It clocks in at 1.76 ounces with 210 calories and is PACKED (their website emphasizes that) with fifteen grams of protein.

Review: Pure Protein Double Chocolate Vanilla Crunch Soft Baked Protein Bar
After a long hiatus from the blog, I recently ventured back into Pure Protein territory with one of their line of new soft baked bars and ended up having a very positive experience. Coming off of that positive experience, I was anxious to try out another one of their bars with today's review of this Pure Protein Double Chocolate Vanilla Crunch Soft Baked Protein Bar that I picked up for $1.00 at Meijer. Each soft baked bar is 1.58 ounces and has 190 calories and seventeen grams of protein.

Review: Oreo Limited Edition Marshmallow Crispy Cookies
Okay, okay...I know I'm kind of selling out with this review. Admittedly, I don't always review healthy foods as I've reviewed my fair share of desserts (ice creams, etc.), but this blog is a business for me after all and I want to generate the page hits that a review like this will bring me. Sorry. Anyway, I believe this is the first time I have ever ventured into the junk food category with today's review of this package of Oreo Marshmallow Crispy Cookies that I somehow got sent to me in the mail in one of the countless promotions that I signed up for (lucky me!). Anyway, this limited edition (they have also introduce a Cookie Dough flavor) package of cookies weighed in at 12.2 ounces and had twelve servings (two cookies per serving) and each serving was 140 calories. Not exactly a diet food, but I clearly knew that going in.

Review: Ciao Bella Belgian Chocolate S'mores Gelato Squares
I think I brought this up in my first Ciao Bella review, but the whole idea of a frozen gelato sandwich is quite fun to me. Also, as I mentioned previously, I picked up two boxes of these Ciao Bella gelato squares at snooty Fresh Market in a two-for-one sale that netted me two boxes of squares for $5.99. This box of Ciao Bella Belgian Chocolate S'mores Gelato Squares has four 2.0 fluid ounce squares with each square coming in with 250 calories. S'mores are not something that I particularly liked or disliked as a child, but as I've aged, I've had tons of s'more-flavored products that I've enjoyed and have eventually become addicted to the flavor combination.

Review: Kellogg's Special K Cookies & Creme Pastry Crisps
There's an old saying that says something along the lines of if it looks, swims and quacks like a duck, then it is probably a duck. When I grabbed this box Kellogg's Special K Cookies & Creme Pastry Crisps on sale at Marsh for $2.99 and closely reviewed the box and then the crisps themselves, I was reminded of that saying and I'll get to it more in this review of yet another new Kellogg's Special K product. Like all the boxes of pastry crisps, there are five pouches of crisps per box and each pouch contains two individual crisps. Each pouch is 0.88 ounces and has 100 calories with less than one gram of protein (LOL), so if you divide that in half, you obviously get the numbers for each individual crisp itself.

Review: Edy's (Dreyer's) Grand Rocky Road Ice Cream
I've had a lot of Edy's flavors that I've tried out here on the blog, but I've mostly stayed away from the "regular" Edy's flavors for whatever reason. Maybe because I've found those flavors boring, but on a recent trip to Meijer, I decided to make the leap and try out one of their regular "Rich & Creamy Grand" flavors with this review of the Edy's Grand Rocky Road Ice Cream. While Rocky Road is about as traditional of a flavor as you can get, I've never really found it even remotely interesting despite the presence of several things that I love (chocolate, marshmallows and almonds). So, the fact that I've stayed away so long is odd. Regardless, I picked up a 1.5 quart container of this on sale for $2.50 and each container contains twelve half-cup servings at 160 calories per serving.

Review: JELL-O Mix-Ins Oreo Dirt Cup Pudding
A lot of times when I decide what order to review products after buying a big batch of them at the store is to look at the expiration date. Once I figure out that I'm not in danger from dying from a rapidly approaching expiration date (thus urgency for a review), I then base my decision on which product sounds the most interesting. It was on a recent trip to Meijer that I picked up a lot of JELL-O Mix-Ins products for reviews and one of those products that I picked up was this JELL-O Mix-Ins Oreo Dirt Cup Pudding. I've held this one for a quite a while because, quite frankly, I was pretty bored by what this entails. Still, sometimes things that I perceive as boring end up surprising me in the end, so for that reason, I still end up reviewing them. This two-pack of Mix-Ins pudding cups was on sale for $1.25 and each cups is roughly 3.4 ounces and has 130 calories. It's made with real milk too!

Review: Simple Truth Fudge Graham Nutrition Bar
Since my last Simple Truth review, I've come to find out that Simple Truth is just a version of Kroger's private label house brand of nutrition bars. Those sneaky Kroger people got one past my goalie and duped me into thinking this was a new manufacturer and not them specifically. Jerks. But, since I bought a couple of these in my initial purpose, I might as well finish out the reviews and give this Simple Truth Fudge Graham Nutrition Bar to see how it tastes. Like the last, this one was on sale for $0.79 and it comes in at 1.94 ounces with 230 calories and fifteen grams of protein. It's organic and naturally flavored, so to quote (and truncate) the great John McClane, "Yippee-ki-yay..."

Review: Breyers S'mores Frozen Dairy Dessert
This review is humorous to be for a couple reasons. Prior to starting this blog, I was okay with ice cream/frozen dairy dessert, but didn't particularly love it. It was the same way with s'mores...I liked them, but didn't particularly love them. After reviewing tons of products involving one or both of these things, I now LOVE them both, so when I saw another Breyers product with this Breyers S'mores Frozen Dairy Dessert on sale at Kroger, I knew I had to grab it to give it a try for a review (plus the "New" tagline roped me in too). The 1.5 quart container was on sale for $2.99 and each serving is 170 calories per serving. There's about fourteen servings per container.

Review: PowerBar Triple Threat Energy S'mores Bar
I was just looking through the archives and I realized that every single S'mores product that I've reviewed on this blog has gotten a BUY IT rating, so that means that this review of the PowerBar Triple Threat Energy S'mores bar has some pretty lofty standards to meet if it wants to continue what I see as a pretty remarkable winning streak for S'mores flavored products. Heck, I didn't realize I like S'mores so much until I looked that up. So, it's a learning experience for me too. Anyway, I picked up this bar at Meijer for $1.09. It's angled toward the before and after cycles of exercise according to PowerBar and it clocks it at 1.94 ounces with 230 calories and ten grams of protein.

Review: MET-Rx Big 100 Rocky Road Cookie Dough Bar
In my previous reviews of MET-Rx bars, I've shared each time that these bars generally seem to me like they are for meatheads (I am not one) and that they are huge. I'll spare the long intro regurgitating that again and instead just break into the review of the bar. Firstly, I got this Big 100 Rocky Road Cookie Dough bar on sale for $2.00 at CVS and it clocks in at a gargantuan 3.52 ounces (it is a meal replacement bar after all). It's 380 calories and contains an iron pumping 28 grams of protein. The bar seems entirely manufactured, but they do manage to point out on the packaging that is does not have any artificial flavors or colors, so that is soothing I suppose.

Review: New Orleans Ice Cream Company Mississippi Debris Ice Cream
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream (obviously I do since this is my second ice cream review today)! Well, Dubba at On Second Scoop screams for ice cream quite a bit and thanks to his generosity (and also that of New Orleans Ice Cream Company), he recommended that myself and a few other bloggers get free pints of some of the New Orleans Ice Cream Company offerings. Due to their extreme generosity, I received SEVEN pints of ice cream, so you'll be seeing review of all seven here on the blog as we go through time. First, I'll start with a pint of the New Orleans Ice Cream Company Mississippi Debris Ice Cream. One thing that I found amazing about this was that it is only 120 calories per serving for premium ice cream! That's right, I didn't stutter...ONLY 120 calories per serving (four half-cup servings in a pint). I was shell shocked by that and even though I was already eager to dive into this to give it a try, that fact itself made me ten times (give or take) more eager.

Review: Balance Bar Gold S'mores Bar
I've had some pretty good successes with Balance bars. While I wouldn't say they are awesome, I've found all of them to be better than average and have given all of them a "BUY IT" rating. Because of that, I was anxious to try this bar out of their "Gold" variety of bars, the S'mores bar. I've liked all the bars that I've had with S'mores flavoring in the past, so I was also anxious to see if this lived up to those lofty expectations as well. Anyway, I picked up this all natural bar at Meijer for $1.09 and it weighs in at 1.76 ounces with 200 calories and fourteen grams of protein.

Review: Ben & Jerry's Phish Food Ice Cream
At this point, I'm thinking of changing my name to either Ben or Jerry since I've reviewed so many Ben & Jerry's products on this blog and have a bunch of reviews stocked up as well. I must have been feeling psychedelic or have been thinking about illegal substances on a recent trip to my local Meijer as I picked up a pint of this Phish Food ice cream along with a pint of Willie Nelson's Country Peach Cobbler (more on that one in the future) on sale for $3.00 each. This Phish Food pint consists of 280 calories per serving and contains a laughable four servings in the pint, so it's on the upper end of the caloric chart for Ben & Jerry's flavors.

Review: JELL-O S'mores Pudding Snack
As I was aimlessly wandering through my local Meijer recently, I happened to find myself standing in the dairy portion of the store in front of one of my favorite areas of the case, the pudding section. I was browsing the case looking for my standard sugar free JELL-O offerings and when I looked down toward one of the bottom shelves, I came across this JELL-O offering, the S'mores pudding cup flavor (no specific website info is available). I had never seen this before and using my strong powers of deduction and the fact that it said "New!" on the packaging, I knew that it was a new product and that I had to have it and give it a try. It's not my standard sugar free and "healthy" JELL-O purchase like I've reviewed in the past, but sometimes curiosity takes over and it got the best of me here. So, I picked up a six pack on sale for $2.50 and went on my merry way. Each pudding cup is four ounces and has 110 calories, by the way.

Review: Pure Protein S'mores Protein Bar
Next up in my Pure Protein bar review series is the Pure Protein S'mores Protein Bar. Much like all the other bars, I picked this one up at Meijer for $1.29 (I looked like more of a goof than usual that day with a shopping cart full of these things, but hey, to each their own I guess). One bar is 180 calories and 19 grams of protein, so it is nice that it is not a calorie killer. It's not a huge bar at only 1.76 ounces, but it's a nice protein packed treat (I use that term loosely).
