Review: Hershey's S'mores Pudding Cups

In my last Hershey's pudding review, I mentioned that I found it peculiar that they were getting involved in the pudding game and taking on some of the stalwarts.  Despite that individual product being tasty, I was still questioning why these were in the store.  Still, I was absolutely willing to try out this four pack of Hershey's S'mores Pudding Cups that I picked up in the same shopping trip for $2.50.  Each campfire treat inspired pudding cup is 3.275 ounces and packs in 110 calories of artificial flavors.  JELL-O also has a S'mores flavor, so this is clearly a shot across their bow.

Review: Hershey's Chocolate Covered Strawberry Pudding Cups

I spend way too much time in the pudding section of the grocery store.  I just can't get enough of the stuff.  It's weird, child-like and pretty much every other adjective you can think of to describe things that are odd and wrong.  Still, I own it and am not afraid to admit it.  Lately, I've noticed some new products creeping in from a titan of the sweets industry and while it took me a while to take the plunge and actually buy one, I finally saw a sale and picked up a four pack of these Hershey's Chocolate Covered Strawberry Pudding Cups on sale at Kroger for $2.50.  Each cup is 3.875 ounces and has 120 calories.  Outside of that, I'm not sure there is anything else pertinent for me to add on these because I know they have no nutritional value.  Now, I'm not sure why Hershey's would want to enter the pudding game, but I was certainly more than curious to find out if these would be any good or if it was something that they were trading on their name only and the product would actually taste awful.  I guess that is what the Crazy Food Dude is here to find out!

Review: Chobani flip Peanut Butter Dream Greek Yogurt

I've reviewed a heck of a lot of Chobani products here.  Not as many as General Mills or those monsters, but for a fairly small company (in a manner of speaking, I've nailed Chobani quite a bit.  That said, when I saw today's product on the shelves of my local Kroger as a new product, I was kind of disappointed in Chobani for not having this product until now because it seems like such an obvious flavor combination.  Now, the name of this Chobani flip Peanut Butter Dream Greek Yogurt is not the most obvious thing (and it borders on trying to be overly cute), but the flavor combination of peanut butter and yogurt, albeit Greek, seems like a no-brainer.  Still it took Chobani a while to come to that, so here we are today with this 5.3 ounce cup of Greek yogurt that I picked up for $1.00.  It's 5.3 ounces, 210 calories and has twelve grams of protein.  It's 1.5% milkfat, so it's a bit fattier than most of their Greek yogurts.  On a side note, I love it when product labels differ from what you find on the website (the website states 240 calories.

Review: Millican Pecan Company Four Chocolate Gift Tin

I mentioned previously that I got some opportunities to review some free products from Chocolate.org (follow their Twitter @choctweets if you like!) and today's review subject is another one of those opportunities.  Today's product comes via Chocolate.org and the Millican Pecan Company, which is based in San Saba, Texas, which reminds me of something funny.  Throughout life, I've come across two pronunciations of the word pecan.  For people in Texas, I believe it is pronounced "PEE-can."  For me and a lot of others, it is pronounced "PUH-con."  I don't know why I find that funny, but I am the type that is easily amused.  Anyway, I received this Millican Pecan Company Four Chocolate Gift Tin recently and it was wrapped up in perhaps the most protective covering of all time.  It was insulated to prevent melting (I appreciate that considering melting has been an issue here before) and it was also padded to prevent the tin denting.  All I know is that it was wrapped up so securely that it took me nearly five minutes to get to the tin.  I found that amusing.  Anyway, the entire tin itself is sixteen ounces and is available from Chocolate.org for $16.00 plus shipping and handling.  There's not any nutrition information posted, which is actually probably a good thing.  I don't want to know how many calories I'll be ingesting as I destroy this.

Review: Magnum Double Peanut Butter Ice Cream Bars

I don't spend a lot of time looking at the Magnum ice cream bars in my grocer's freezer case.  Most of the time, I've found that they are pretty good, they bore me in general.  Not sure why, but they just do and that's one of the many reasons why I haven't looked at one in over a year.  Anyway, from time to time, I meander through the freezer section and a new Magnum product jumps out at me.  That's what happened when I was meandering through the Kroger freezer section and saw this box of three Magnum Double Peanut Butter Ice Cream Bars sitting there at a sale price of $2.99.  I should also mention that I don't buy a lot of Magnum bars because they generally are more expensive than I'd like but at the aforementioned price along with a coupon for $0.75 off, the price was just right!  Anyway, each bar in the box is 340 calories and weighs in at 3.38 fluid ounces.

Review: Atkins Endulge Peanut Butter Cups

I generally don't buy a lot of Atkins products because they are more expensive than I typically like.  That said, I have reviewed many of their product here on the blog before and in general, have had pretty positive experiences.  Recently, I was at my mom's house and I was going through her cabinets scavenging for food like I always do (I'm a good son) and I came across a box of Atkins Endulge Peanut Butter Cups.  Being that this was her house and I knew I wouldn't have to pay for them (free is my favorite price!), I quickly grabbed a pack of these and that leads me to today's review.  Each pack is 1.2 ounces and has two peanut butter cups.  Combined, the total caloric weight is 160 calories with two grams of protein.  The Atkins Diet does not like sugar or carbs, so these only have a combined two grams of carbs and have zero sugar, so that's nice.

Review: Haagen-Dazs Honey Milk Chocolate Graham Gelato Bars

If you have been a regular reader of the blog (however sparse my posts have been recently), you may have noticed that I've gotten away from dessert-type reviews.  A lot of that has helped me drop a few unwanted pounds in 2015, but sometimes the old sweet tooth just kicks in and when that is paired with a coupon that gets me a killer deal, I just can't resist picking up something decidedly unhealthy and very dessert-y at the store.  That led me to add to my Haagen-Dazs review collection as a $2.00 off store coupon allowed me to pick up a box of three Haagen-Dazs Honey Milk Chocolate Graham Gelato Bars at Kroger for $1.99.  What a deal!  Anyway, each bar in the box is 3.0 ounces and packs a decidedly unhealthy 280 calories.  But hey, it's dessert...dessert is rarely healthy.

Review: Dannon Creamery Milk Chocolate Pudding

I will be the first to say that I would typically stay away from the topic of today's review because it is just something that screams "blah".  I've looked at some of the other new Dannon Creamery products on the blog so far, but those at least had some unique flavors to them and I could explain why I was reviewing those products.  Had it not been for readers steering me toward today's review by saying how delicious Dannon Creamery's pudding products were, I would have never picked up this 5.3 ounces container of Dannon Creamery Milk Chocolate Pudding on sale at Meijer for $1.25.  Each container is 220 calories and Dannon proudly professes this is made with Grade A milk just to make you feel a little better about eating something (pudding) that very much does not have a healthy connotation.

Review: Mrs. Fields Milk Chocolate Chip Nibblers Cookies

Mall icon Mrs. Fields has decided to enter into the grocery store product foray and as part of that entrance, they were kind enough to send me boxes of their new flavors along with some special promotional packaging, which really amused me and naturally was too stupid to take a photograph of before ripping it up and throwing it into the garbage.  The packaging revolved around the milk and cookies motif and included a small glass bottle for milk and red and white checkerboard napkins.  From a presentation perspective, I've got to give them credit for creativity.  Anyway, for my first review, I figured it would only be fitting to review one of the most classic cookies that there is with this review of a box of Mrs. Fields Milk Chocolate Chip Nibblers Cookies.  Each box contains fifteen cookies wrapped in a foil wrapper and being that these are called Nibblers, they are bite-sized, fudge dipped and also soft-baked.

Review: Kellogg's Special K Blondie Brownie Bites

I've reviewed my fair share of healthy and unhealthy foods on this blog and usually it is fairly easy to determine which of those categories a particular food product falls into.  The source of today's review leaves me kind of torn.  On one hand, I've looked at several Special K products in the past and those typically fall into the healthy category.  But, when you look at the product name of this Kellogg's Special K Blondie Brownie Bites, nothing about it says healthy and that's why I can't figure out how to group it.  So, I guess I won't worry about it and will just treat it as a review and that's it.  Not sure why I felt the need to describe my internal conflict there, but hey, it's my blog and my show I suppose.  Anyway, I picked up this box for $2.99 at Marsh.  Each box contains six pouches that come in at 0.74 ounces per pouch and each pouch has 100 calories.

Review: Haagen-Dazs Salted Caramel Ice Cream Bars

I've been steadily making my way through the bulk purchase of Haagen-Dazs ice cream bars that I made a while back and today's review is the final flavor of that splurge.  That splurge allowed me to pick up this box of three Haagen-Dazs Salted Caramel Ice Cream Bars for $3.00 at Meijer.  Now, I'm okay with salted caramel as a flavor combination, but I think the sudden surge of products revolving around that flavor is absurd.  I mean, the flavor combo is fine, but it's not as good as the amount of products available would suggest.  But, I guess trying these out will allow me to determine whether these are a successful addition to the world or a failure.  Before I bite in, each bar in this box is 3.0 fluid ounces and comes in at a premium 290 calories.

Review: Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond Ice Cream Bars

After I just typed out the title of this review, I had this feeling that I might as well stop there because the name of this product pretty much described it all in terms of what I'd be getting.  Even with that, I paid the big $3.00 at Meijer for this box of three bars, so I figured I wouldn't let that money go to "waste" by not reviewing these Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond Ice Cream Bars to add to my rapidly expanding waistline, I mean review archive.  Each bar within the box comes in at 3.0 fluid ounces and has 300 calories, so as with all Haagen-Dazs products, it's not exactly a low calorie treat by any stretch of the imagination.

Review: Klondike Heath Ice Cream Bars

The old commercial tagline for Klondike Bars was "What would you do for a Klondike bar?"  Klondike bars are fine, but I wouldn't even buy them unless they were on sale.  So, in response to the commercial, my answer is that I wouldn't do much.  That said, they were on sale recently as I mentioned in a prior review, so I picked up two different flavors and this Klondike Heath Ice Cream Bar is that second flavor.  I picked these up at Meijer on sale for $2.50 for a box of six and each bar in the box is 230 calories and roughly four ounces per bar.  Obviously modeled after HEATH bars, it's milk chocolate English toffee in ice cream bar form (the tagline is "Kind of like a HEATH bar, only ice creamier"; cute).  I can't remember if I've mentioned this in prior toffee flavored product reviews, but toffee is something that I never really developed a craving for until later in life.  HEATH bars were fine as I was growing up, but they weren't anything that I actively pursued.  It wasn't until later in life when my uncle showed up at Christmas with a brick of toffee from a sweets shop that I developed an intense craving for it.  That stuff was so incredible that it sold me on toffee for life.
