Review: Magnum Double Peanut Butter Ice Cream Bars

I don't spend a lot of time looking at the Magnum ice cream bars in my grocer's freezer case.  Most of the time, I've found that they are pretty good, they bore me in general.  Not sure why, but they just do and that's one of the many reasons why I haven't looked at one in over a year.  Anyway, from time to time, I meander through the freezer section and a new Magnum product jumps out at me.  That's what happened when I was meandering through the Kroger freezer section and saw this box of three Magnum Double Peanut Butter Ice Cream Bars sitting there at a sale price of $2.99.  I should also mention that I don't buy a lot of Magnum bars because they generally are more expensive than I'd like but at the aforementioned price along with a coupon for $0.75 off, the price was just right!  Anyway, each bar in the box is 340 calories and weighs in at 3.38 fluid ounces.

Review: Magnum Infinity Chocolate Ice Cream Bars

I mentioned in my previous Magnum Infinity review that these kind of sneakily appeared in my local Kroger's freezer case.  They are dark chocolate bars, so I guess that is what makes them Infinity?  Who knows.  Anyway, I picked up this box of three Magnum Infinity Chocolate Ice Cream Bars on sale for $2.99 and each bar is 3.38 fluid ounces and a semi-respectable (compared to many premium ice cream bars), but definitely not healthy, 260 calories.

I've been trying my best to stay away from the ice cream portion of the freezer section of my store for the past few months because I have an unhealthy infatuation with ice cream and I'm trying to keep myself under control.  In a moment of weakness on a recent visit to Kroger, I strolled through that section and saw that Magnum has some new products that I've never reviewed before, so I grabbed a box of three of these Magnum Infinity Chocolate & Raspberry Ice Cream Bars on sale for $2.99.  Each bar in the box comes in at 3.38 fluid ounces ounces and has 260 calories, so while not a total belly buster, it's not exactly a healthy treat despite the presence of the famed dark chocolate.

Review: Magnum Gold?! Ice Cream Bars

It's April Fool's Day, so I can think of no better way to celebrate with a review of something that I initially thought was a joke.  Before I get to that though, I will be the first to admit that Magnum bars are not the first thing I think of when I want an ice cream treat. That's despite the fact that I've had some very positive experiences with them on the blog.  A little while back, I saw what I at first thought was a joke based on the name of the product with a review of these new Magnum Gold?! Ice Cream Bars on the wonderful blog On Second Scoop and after reading the review, I was absolutely certain that I had to get my hands on these for a review. It was that quest that led me to pick up a box of these at Kroger on sale for $3.00. Each box contains three 3.38'fluid ounce bars and each bar is a fairly robust 290 calories.

Review: Magnum Mochaccino Ice Cream Bar

Magnum always pulls a fast one one me.  Just when I think I've reviewed all their products, a new one pops up in the store, so being the rube that I am, I go ahead and pick it up for a review.  That rube-ness is what leads me to this review of the new Magnum Mochaccino Ice Cream Bar that I picked up on sale at Meijer for $2.49.  Each box contains three ice cream bars and each individual bar comes in at 3.38 fluid ounces and has 250 calories per bar, so it's not a calorie killer, but it's also not a freebie either.  Also, I'm not the world's biggest fan of coffee flavored ice cream (I love coffee), but I'll try to not let that bias sway me going in.

Review: Magnum Mint Ice Cream Bar

I've spent a decent amount of time reviewing the remaining Magnum products on this blog.  Being that I want to be all encompassing...actually, that's not true...being that I have an absurd sweet tooth, I felt it was time to review the Magnum product I've been holding out on the longest with this review of the Magnum Mint Ice Cream Bar.  My dislike of mint and chocolate mixed together has kept me from this one for a long time, but as I've done more reviews on this blog, I've found that I don't hate that flavor combination as much as I once did.  In fact, I actually have liked it in a lot of instances, so I was curious to see if that applied to this as well.  I picked up a box of three of these at Kroger on sale for $3.00 and each bar comes in at a weight of 2.7 ounces and has 250 calories.  According to the Magnum website, this is one of their "Gourmet" flavors, so the real question of this review is, how gourmet is it?

Review: Magnum Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Bar

I've never been shy on this blog about my general dislike of dark chocolate. Actually, that's not fair...given the option, I prefer all other types of chocolate over dark chocolate.  If dark chocolate is the only chocolate available, I'll certainly eat it, but I'll just wish it was one of the other types of chocolate.  Anyway, because of my lack of preference for dark chocolate, I've always stayed away from this Magnum Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Bar despite the fact that I've done reviews of all the Magnum ice cream bars with the exceptions of this one and the Mint one, which I've stayed away from for the same reasons as the Dark Chocolate bar.  In my local Kroger recently with a coupon that allowed me to save if I bought two boxes, I picked up a box of this Dark Chocolate bar and also a box of the Mint bar, so that one will be forthcoming later.  The sale price for this box was $3.00 and it contains three bars per box.  Each bar is 2.7 ounces and contains 240 calories.  Because this is a "high class" Magnum bar, it's made with rich Belgian chocolate, just like all the others.

I've done several reviews of Magnum bars here on the blog and after each review, I get some sort of message from someone telling me that since I liked the bar that I just reviewed, I should try the Double Chocolate bar because I'll like it even more.  After finally getting enough of these messages, I put it on my to-do list to try as soon as it went on sale at my local store and when it I finally did go on sale (I am a bargain shopper after all!), I snatched up a three pack of these to try.  The sale price at my local Meijer was $3.00 and each bar is a decent sized 3.38 ounces has 350 calories.  Of all the Magnum bars, this is the most calorie dense.

Review: Magnum Double Caramel Ice Cream Bar

I've had positive experiences with the ballyhooed Magnum bars that I've reviewed on this blog.  Since I had such positive experiences with the first two bars, I was anxious to try out the Double Caramel bar and see how it stacked up against the White Chocolate and Almond bars that I had already tried out.  Caramel and chocolate are a wonderful flavor combination, so I was very eager to try this out.  I picked up a three pack of these bars at Meijer on sale for $3.00.  Each bar weighs 3.38 ounces and has 320 calories of sinfulness.

Review: Magnum Almond Ice Cream Bar

As I brought up in my previous Magnum review, Magnum bars were all the rage last summer when they made their way across the big pond to America.  I'm a sucker for marketing (I work in marketing in real life, so it's understandable), so I wanted to try out as many flavors of the bars that I could, so that leads me to this Almond Ice Cream bar.  It clocks in at 79 grams, if that means anything to you, so it is a fairly decent sized ice cream bar.  Each bar also claims 270 calories, so it is not exactly healthy, but honestly, dessert rarely can be classified as healthy.  I can't remember the price exactly, but I think I picked up a three pack of these at Marsh for around $3.99.

Review: Magnum White Chocolate Ice Cream Bar

Magnum Bars just surfaced here in America in the summer of 2011.  They apparently have been in Europe for quite some time and have developed quite a reputation and therefore debuted to much fanfare here in the United States due to their supposed "high class" European reputation.  I've had them in my pre-blog days, but I'll review them here in case anyone wants another opinion.  The flavor I'm looking at today is the White Chocolate Magnum bar that I picked up in a three pack at Marsh on sale for $3.99.  Each bar contains 250 calories and weighs in at 3.38 ounces.
