Review: Kashi Dark Mocha Almond Chewy Granola Bars

I know I say the same thing in every single Kashi review, but it always bears repeating that there is not a single product manufacturer on this blog that I have a more tortured and tumultuous history with.  Bad, good, terrible, awesome...their products cover the entire gamut of reactions from me.  With that history in mind, I once again dive into another one of their products with today's review of this box of six Kashi Dark Mocha Almond Chewy Granola Bars that I picked up on sale at Kroger for $2.75.  Each bar in the box is 1.2 ounces of all natural granola bar and each bar is 130 calories with six grams of protein.

Review: Kashi Chocolate Almond & Sea Salt with Chia Chewy Granola Bars

Today's review brings a bit of entertainment to me as I get to add another review to perhaps the most tortured review catalog on this blog.  Good products, horrible product, mediocre products...Kashi has had them all.  Their surprisingly large (to me) catalog of reviews have no consistency, so it's that unpredictable nature that makes this review of this Kashi Chocolate Almond & Sea Salt with Chia Chewy Granola Bars a bit exciting heading in.  I picked up a box of six of these all natural bars at Kroger for $2.75 and each bar in the box weighs in at 1.2 ounces with 140 calories and six grams of protein.  For such a small bar, that's a surprising amount of protein to me, but I'm sure it's because of the inclusion of the almonds.

Review: Kashi Honey Almond Flax Chewy Granola Bars

I mentioned in my previous Kashi review how much I count my pennies and that typically keeps me away from buying Kashi products, but based on a recent sale at Meijer, I picked up several of their products for review and that includes the subject of today's review with this box of six Kashi Honey Almond Flax Granola Bars that I picked up on sale for $3.00.  Each bar in the box is 1.2 ounces and 140 calories with a decent seven grams of protein considering the composition of the bar.

Review: Kashi Berry Lemonade with Chia Chewy Granola Bars

Kashi released the subject of today's review a few months back, but since I'm so tight fisted and cheap, I've resisted buying a box of these because I did not want to pay full price just to add another review to the Kashi catalog.  Recently on a trip to Meijer though, they had a box of six of these for sale at a decent enough price for me ($3.00) that I decided to pick it up and try out this "new" flavor of Kashi Berry Lemonade with Chia Chewy Granola Bars.  Like I said, there are six bars in the box and each bar is 1.2 ounces and 120 calories with six grams of protein.

Review: Kashi Dark Chocolate Coconut Layered Granola Bars

I don't think I've had more polarizing responses to a particular manufacturer's products than I have to Kashi products.  There are some products that I have genuinely despised, while there are others that I have loved.  That typically hasn't happened with most manufacturers on this blog (that I can immediately recall), so it is worth noting that as I dive into another Kashi review after a long vacation from their reviews with this box of six Kashi Dark Chocolate Coconut Layered Granola Bars that I picked up on sale at Meijer for $3.00.  Each bar comes in at 1.1 ounces and has 120 calories with four grams of protein.

Review: Kashi GOLEAN Crunchy! (Crisp!) Cinnamon Coffee Cake Bar

Throughout my childhood, my family went to church every Sunday morning.  We'd get there early, go to Sunday School and partake in the fellowship opportunities before and sometimes after church.  Our church was no different than a lot of churches in America in the respect that these fellowship events included a truckload of coffee and pastries, including coffee cake.  To say that I've eaten my fair share of pastries because of those fellowship events would be an understatement, so when I saw this Kashi GOLEAN Crunchy! Cinnamon Coffee Cake Bar (Kashi has now changed the name and look, but not the flavor, of these to the Crisp! line of bars, so this particular packaging is a dying breed) in the nutrition bar section for $1.33 in my local Kroger, I was incredibly intrigued by how Kashi could possibly turn the delicious pastry into a nutrition bar, so I immediately snatched it up to add to my catalog of Kashi reviews.  The bar itself comes in at 1.59 ounces and is 160 calories with eight grams of protein and five grams of fiber.  It's all natural bar and also contains Kashi's proprietary mix of seven whole grains.

Review: Kashi Berry Muffin Soft n' Chewy Bar

So I've finally reached the bottom of my office snack time Kashi stockpile (for now).  You've seen lots of reviews of these Kashi products that I've picked up already, but I'm going to bore (or perhaps inform) you with another today with my review of this Kashi Berry Muffin Soft n' Chewy Bar.  I'm sure this comes in a box of five or six for around $4.00, but since I got it at the office, I don't have an official price to attach to it. The bar itself is 1.4 ounces, has 130 calories and three grams of protein.

Review: Kashi Ripe Strawberry Soft-Baked Cereal Bar

I love company snack time.  Not because I need a snack, but because I love picking up free stuff to review. Snack time and my propensity for free stuff leads me to another Kashi review with this review of the Kashi Ripe Strawberry Soft-Baked Cereal Bar.  Each bar is 1.2 ounces with 130 calories and two grams of protein.  Since I got this gratis, I couldn't tell you exactly  how much this is, but I'd guess a box of five or six of these carries a regular price at your local grocery store of around $4.00.

Review: Kashi Trail Mix Chewy Granola Bar

Office snack time hit up the Kashi bars again, so it's time for another Kashi review.  It's getting to be a broken record at the office...one day Kashi bars and the next day is popcorn.  It continues in that endless loop for ever and yes, I am whining about free snacks.  Yes, I am aware that I really need to get a life.  Anyway, a recent snack time opened my eyes to the Kashi Trail Mix Chewy Granola Bar.  This bar comes in at 1.2 ounces and has 140 calories and six grams of protein.  It's also all natural and is primarily made up of Kashi's seven whole grains mix mixed with whatever the add-ins of choice are and since this is a bar based on trail mix, there's a plethora of them.

Review: Kashi Blackberry Graham Soft-Baked Cereal Bar

Money doesn't grow on trees and neither do reviews, so any time that I'm able to pick up a new food for a review at my company's daily snack time, my wallet certainly appreciates it. With that, I'm led to another Kashi review with this snack time inspired review of this Kashi Blackberry Graham Soft-Baked Cereal Bar. This all natural bar comes in at 1.2 ounces and has 120 calories with a teensy two grams of protein.

Review: Kashi Pumpkin Spice Flax Crunchy Granola Bar

Whoever is responsible for buying snacks at my office must have fallen in love with Kashi products because I've been seeing them around the office a lot lately and being the freebie freak that I am, I've been snatching them up for reviews. It's that trolling of the office snacks yet again that leads me to this review of the Kashi Pumpkin Spice Flax Crunchy Granola Bar. This is a two granola bar pack (didn't expect that) and each pack is 1.4 ounces at 170 calories and five grams of protein. Divide those in half and you've obviously got the measurements for each all natural bar.

Review: Kashi GOLEAN Crunchy! Chocolate Almond Bar

Love 'em, hate 'em, yada, yada, yada...I've written this same intro about my tumultuous history with Kashi reviews before.  So, in lieu of writing the same intro again, I'll just hop right into the review of this Kashi GOLEAN Crunchy! Chocolate Almond Bar that I picked up on sale at Kroger for $1.00.  It is 1.59 ounces and has eight grams of protein and five grams of fiber.  Basically, that means that it's going to fill you up and eventually empty you out.  Fun times.

Review: Kashi GOLEAN Crisp! Chocolate Caramel Bar

Kashi and I haven't been the greatest of friends on this blog, but I'm a sucker for a sale and since I saw Kashi bars on sale at Kroger recently for $1.00, I knew I had to grab a couple of bars to try out, despite some of my past experiences with the bar.  This bar, the Kashi GOLEAN Crisp! Chocolate Caramel Bar, comes in at 1.59 ounces with 150 calories and eight grams of protein.  It's also got a cute tagline on the wrapper with a disclaimer that states "Stay Full Longer*"  I work for a company that LOVES disclaimers, so anytime I see one, I always chuckle.  In this case, the Kashi disclaimer says that they intend for you to stay full longer by providing a mix of protein and fiber, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you will stay full longer.  Ah, lawyers...gotta love 'em, eh?

Review: Kashi Apple Cobbler Soft n' Chewy Bar

As if having a previously reviewed soft-baked square wasn't enough, Kashi has decided to go the extra step and release another line of similar bars with the added bonus that these bars are not only soft, but they are also chewy.  Lucky us!  I had a coupon for one of these new bars, so I picked up a box of five Kashi Apple Cobbler Soft n' Chewy Bars on sale at Marsh for $2.99 (that was the sale price; my coupon deducted more).  Each bar in the box is 1.4 ounces and has 130 calories with three grams of protein.  It's all natural and is made with real fruits and veggies.  Veggies?!  Ummm...based on the name of this, the fact that it advertises the presence of veggies is sort of frightening to me.

Review: Kashi Cherry Vanilla Soft-Baked Cereal Bar

I've mentioned before that I don't post these reviews in the order in which I actually do them, but at the time that I'm typing this review, it seems like all I've been reviewing lately are cereal bars as my most recent handful of reviews that I've typed have been cereal bars and when I look at my queue of upcoming reviews, I've still got a couple more to knock out.  Yikes, there are a lot of cereal bars out there on the market.  So much so that I didn't even realize that the cereal bar market was so cutthroat and competitive.  With that, I continue my cereal bar run, as I've got another Kashi review with this review of the Kashi Cherry Vanilla Soft-Baked Cereal Bar.  I got this during the hilarious snack time at my work, meaning it was free.  The pertinent details for this bar are that it is 1.2 ounces with 120 calories and two grams of protein.

Review: Kashi Almond Soft-Baked Square

I've been hard on Kashi products on the blog, but last time I reviewed one of these soft-baked squares, it wasn't bad, but I was also not overly impressed either.  Since the last square that I tried was a free sample, they sent along a coupon to get $1.00 off a box of these at the store, so on my next trip to Meijer, I saw these Kashi Almond Soft-Baked Squares on sale for $2.99 and with my coupon, I was able to get a box of five of these for $1.99.  What a deal!  My bargain shopping aside, each soft-baked square comes in at 1.4 ounces and has 160 calories and three grams of protein.

Review: Kashi Chocolate Soft-Baked Square

Outside of CLIF products, I don't think I've been harder on a particular product manufacturer than I have in my Kashi reviews.  Most everything I tried was downright horrible and I was quite upset to be eating it.  That said, being the sucker for free samples that I am, I went ahead and decided to try out this Kashi Chocolate Soft-Baked Square and see if this what I consider to be a dessert product was similar to their "nutrition" products that I so genuinely despised.  Like I said, this was a free sample of a new product and it comes in at 1.4 ounces with 160 calories.

Review: Kashi GOLEAN Peanut Butter & Chocolate Protein & Fiber Bar

As I've mentioned in previous Kashi reviews, I haven't exactly had the best luck with Kashi products and have found them all to be miserable.  That said, I was curious to try this Chocolate & Peanut Butter Protein & Fiber bar because really, how hard can it be to screw up chocolate and peanut butter?  Well, I guess that's why I do reviews...to find out if it is hard.  I picked this one up at Meijer for $1.29 and it's all nautral, weighs 1.94 ounces and has 200 calories, ten grams of protein and five grams of fiber to help with...well, you know.

Review: Kashi GOLEAN Roll! Chocolate Peanut Protein & Fiber Bar

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you would know that I have not exactly had good experiences reviewing Kashi products.  In fact, the reviews I've done have found them to be terrible.  Still, being the glutton for punishment that I am, I was willing to give this Chocolate Peanut Protein & Fiber bar a shot to see if it could break the loser streak for Kashi.  I picked this one up for $1.29 at Meijer and it clocks in at 1.94 ounces with 190 calories and twelve grams of protein.

Review: Kashi GOLEAN Roll! Chocolate Turtle Protein & Fiber Bar

I would be willing to bet that when 95% of the ice cream eating world is asked what their favorite ice cream sundae is, they would say that it is a hot fudge sundae.  Hot fudge sundaes are nice, but in my book, the best sundae that exits is a Turtle sundae.  Vanilla ice cream (or custard), hot fudge, hot caramel and pecans.  Some are topped by whipped cream and a cherry for the proverbial (and literal) cherry on top, but those last two aren't completely necessary.  Because I feel that Turtle sundaes are the best, I was very intrigued when I saw this Kashi GOLEAN Roll! Chocolate Turtle bar on sale at my local Meijer for $1.50.  I've had bad experiences with Kashi products before when I tried their GOLEAN Crunch cereal, but I was willing to give this protein/fiber bar a try.  For those of you that are interested in the "under the hood" details, here you go:  all natural, a robust 1.94 ounces, 190 calories, twelve grams of protein and six grams of fiber.
