Review: Zone Perfect Perfectly Simple Peppermint Bark Bar

I find it exponentially amusing that even nutrition bar manufacturers get into the seasonal spirit and release limited edition products that are based on the season.  Zone Perfect has already done it once with a pumpkin-flavored bar that I reviewed previously, but now they are going with a peppermint-flavored bar that is focused on the...well, let's just say December traditions (call that my Starbucks red cup play).  Anyway, I picked up this seasonally influenced and limited edition Zone Perfect Perfectly Simple Peppermint Bark Bar at Kroger for $1.00.  It checks in at 1.41 ounces and has a modest 180 calories with ten grams of protein.  It's also gluten free.

As I've lamented on the blog, it's that time of year for pumpkin-flavored products and why shouldn't Zone Perfect add to their review collection with a pumpkin-flavored product too?  It's only fitting since everyone else is doing it.  So, I saw this limited edition Zone Perfect Perfectly Simple Pumpkin Chai Bar on sale at my local Kroger for $1.00 and snatched it up to once again be over pumpkined.  This bar comes in at 1.41 ounces and has 180 calories with ten grams of protein.  It's also gluten free, so there's that going for it too (besides its seasonality).

I'll admit that I don't pay much attention to the Zone Perfect bars when I'm in the store.  Perhaps I've got it stuck in my head that I've exhausted all their flavors in reviews or I'm just bored by them...I'm not sure, although I'm guessing it's more of the former than the latter.  Anyway, I was prompted to take a look at them again recently when I was given a Free Friday Download digital coupon from Kroger and when I did look, I found this Zone Perfect Salted Caramel Brownie Nutrition Bar, which is one that I've never looked at before (or noticed).  This comes in at 1.58 ounces and has 200 calories with eleven grams of protein.

I often go through the aisles of stores and just bypass products that I think I must have reviewed before.  I know that I've mentioned that previously, but when you cross over one thousand reviews like I have recently, it's tough to remember everything that I have or have not reviewed.  Today's review product is one of those instances as every time I saw this  Zone Perfect Perfectly Simple Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Bar on the shelf, I was convinced that I had reviewed it because it was such a seemingly basic product that I figured I would have hit on at some point.  One day, curiosity got the best of me and I check the Zone Perfect review archive and low and behold, I found out that I had not reviewed it, so here we are.  I (finally) grabbed this bar off the shelves at Kroger for $1.00 and each bar is 1.58 ounces with 190 calories and ten grams of protein.

It amuses me how Kroger's Free Friday Download promotion has re-opened my eyes to products that I haven't looked at in a long time because I thought I had covered everything and don't bother to look anymore.  For example, I haven't done a Zone Perfect review in seemingly forever, which is funny since they were a big part of the blog in its early days.  When I went and look at the review archives, I saw that I did a couple reviews nearly a year ago and prior to that, it was all in January 2013 and prior.  So, to say that I'm in a bit of Zone Perfect drought would be an understatement.  Anyway, today ends that drought as the free download forced me to find a flavor that I had missed and never looked at before with this Zone Perfect Chocolate Caramel Cluster Bar.  The bar is 1.76 ounces and has 210 calories with fourteen grams of protein.

Review: Zone Perfect Kidz Caramel Crunch Bar

These Zone Perfect Kidz bars are a new entrant to my local grocery store's shelves.  I've already taken a look at one of these in a prior review and found it to be especially addicting.  Because of that, I was kind of excited to dive into today's review of this Zone Perfect Kidz Caramel Crunch Bar that I picked up on sale at Kroger for $1.00.  The bar itself is 1.23 ounces and has 140 calories with five grams of protein.  It's for kids obviously, so it's slightly diminutive, but that is just fine in the grand scheme of things.

I'm currently reading a book about how major food manufacturers started aiming their advertising toward children once they realized the adult market had dried up (this was several years ago that this happened) and now that they've oversaturated the market, they've changed course.  With that as a backdrop, I do find new products that are aimed toward children to be funny, no matter how necessary they are.  This Zone Perfect Kidz Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bar fits that bill perfectly in my mind as it adds to my growing list of reviews.  Regardless of how I do or do not feel about the actual bar itself, I did pick it up on sale for $1.00 at Kroger and it comes in at 1.23 ounces with 150 calories and five grams of protein.  The label states that this bar is aimed at providing nutrition for active kids, so there's at least some virtue in that.

I consider myself perfect and also simple, so these bars should be right up my alley, right?  Okay, I'm neither perfect and I'm not all that simple, but that was the best introductory line that I could come up with, which proves that I am far from perfect and actually could be considered borderline awful.  Anyway, Zone Perfect has read some of my prior reviews and sent me some free samples of their bars to try out and it's those free samples that lead me to try out this Zone Perfect Perfectly Simple Cranberry Almond Bar.  This bar is 1.58 ounces and has 170 calories with ten grams of protein.  It's Perfectly Simple because it is made up of a limited amount of ingredients, which in this case, is ten ten ingredients.

One of the funny things about writing reviews for this blog is that often after I post a review, I hear from the company that was the source of the review with them offering to send me free products, information, etc.  Whether they are just being nice or attempting to buy me off is open to interpretation, but that's a discussion for another day.  It's after a previous review of Zone Perfect's Perfectly Simple products that Zone Perfect contacted me and offered to send me a couple of free samples in that product line to try out, so that leads me to this review of the Zone Perfect Perfectly Simple Toasted Coconut Nutrition Bar.  This one comes in at 1.58 ounces and has 200 calories with ten grams of protein.  It has only eight ingredients, thus the focus on simplicity in the name of the product line.

Review: Zone Perfect Perfectly Simple Peanut Crunch Bar

So I've always considered Zone Perfect to be kind of like CLIF in that they have countless variations of their products and I've reviewed many of them.  They semi-recently introduced a new variation of bars called "Perfectly Simple" bars that have a premise of being produced with a very limited number of ingredients.  Always curious and also always looking for free stuff,  I picked up this Zone Perfect Perfectly Simple Peanut Crunch Bar for free via a promotion on the Zone Perfect website.  It's 1.58 ounces, 190 calories and has ten grams of protein.  Since it is Perfectly Simple, it consists of only six ingredients and those ingredients include peanut butter, cane syrup, soy protein isolate, date paste, rolled oats and coconut.  Outside of soy protein isolate, all of those ingredients sound pretty benign and boring to me, but boring does not always mean bad.

I've reviewed a lot of Zone Perfect bars from their various lines of products, but every time I go to their website, it seems like there is more stuff that I'm missing and that leads me to this first review of one of their Fruitified products with this review of the Blueberry (pretty basic) bar from that line of products.  I picked this one up for free via a coupon that I got in a Facebook promo, but it weighs in at 1.76 ounces like seemingly all Zone Perfect bars do.  It also has 210 calories and fourteen grams of protein.

Review: Zone Perfect Cookie Dough Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Bar

Zone Perfect is starting to approach CLIF in the amount of extensions they have in their products.  So far, I have done reviews of their original bars, their Dark Chocolate bars, their Sweet & Salty Bars and now I'm led to a my first review of one of their Cookie Dough bars with this review of the Zone Perfect Cookie Dough Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Bar.  Obviously this isn't my first cookie dough product review on the blog and I, like most normal humans, love cookie dough, so I hold all these bars to high standards and it will be no different for this bar.  With that laid out on the table, I picked up this bar at Meijer for $1.19 and it is 1.58 ounces (smaller than the typical 1.76 ounce Zone Perfect bar) and it has 190 calories and ten grams of protein.  One thing I did find interesting prior to opening this was that the packaging actually had the text printed on it of "Ready To Eat."  As opposed to what?!  LOL, I just found that to be pretty funny when I read it.  Anyway, time to get down to business.

Review: Zone Perfect Dark Dark Chocolate Strawberry Bar

I stuttered quite a bit as a child, but I can assure you that I did not stutter or make a typographical error with the name of this bar in the heading of this post.  The reason "Dark" is included twice is that this bar is from Zone Perfect's "Dark" line of nutrition bars and it is flavored as a Dark Chocolate Strawberry bar.  Anyway, now that I've clarified (like you probably cared), it's time to get down to the nitty gritty of this review...I picked this one up at Kroger on sale for $1.00 at Kroger and it comes in at the standard Zone Perfect weight of 1.58 ounces.  It has 180 calories and twelve grams of protein and it says it is all natural, although when I read the ingredient list, there's a lot of natural things I don't recognize.  I usually don't write about ingredients because I don't care for the most part, but when something bills itself as all natural and then I can't pronounce half the things on the ingredient list, I begin to scratch my head.

Review: Zone Perfect Dark Double Dark Chocolate Nutrition Bar

I've done a lot of Zone Perfect bar reviews on the blog, including a review of their "Dark" line of bars that include dark chocolate (clever naming there).  So, this review leads me to another review in the Dark product line with this Double Dark Chocolate Nutrition Bar.  As usual, these bars are all natural and I picked this one up at Marsh on sale for $1.25 and it weighs in at 1.58 ounces.  In terms of the science stuff, it has 190 calories and is packed with 12 grams of protein.

Review: Zone Perfect Cinnamon Roll Nutrition Bar

Being that today is National Cinnamon Roll Day, there is no more fitting time for a cinnamon roll review.  This is the third cinnamon bun/roll product that I've reviewed, so I think it is pretty safe to assume that I like cinnamon rolls a lot.  They are just about the most unhealthy thing in the world, but when done right like at Granite City Food & Brewery, they can be AWESOME.  So, anytime someone tries to simulate this in ice cream or bar form, I'm very much interested and that leads me to the Zone Perfect Cinnamon Roll Nutrition Bar.  I picked this one up for $1.25 at Marsh and it is 1.76 ounces with 210 calories and fifteen grams of protein.  This bar is part of Zone Perfect's all natural Classic line of bars.

Review: Zone Perfect Dark Dark Chocolate Caramel Pecan Nutrition Bar

I like the semi-hot streak that I'm working on with Zone Perfect reviews here at Crazy Food Dude.  So far, I've liked all but one that I've had, although I haven't tried any from their "Dark" line of bars that are angled at the dark chocolate market.  As you may or may not know, dark chocolate is supposedly high in antioxidants, so it is supposed to be healthier for you than regular chocolate.  Anyway, I picked up this Dark Chocolate Caramel Pecan bar at Kroger on sale for $1.00.  It weights in at a semi-small 1.58 ounces and contains 190 calories with a respectable twelve grams of protein.

Review: Zone Perfect Sweet & Salty Cashew Pretzel Nutrition Bar

Zone Perfect has had a good reputation here on the blog so far.  In prior reviews, I've reviewed their bars previously and just drooled over some of them.  This time, I'm venturing out into a different product line of theirs, the Sweet & Salty Zone Perfect bars and specifically, the Cashew Pretzel flavor.  This one clocks in 1.58 ounces with 200 calories and a respectable ten grams of protein.  I picked it up at Kroger on sale for $1.00.

This is the third Zone Perfect Nutrition bar that I've reviewed and while I was very impressed with the first two and gave them BUY IT reviews, let's see if this one turns out equally as well (fingers crossed!).  This time I'm looking at the Chocolate Coconut Crunch flavor.  It's from the All-Natural Classics line of bars and for semantics purposes, I picked it up on sale at Kroger for $1.00.  It weighs in at 1.76 ounces like most of their bars, consists of 210 calories and also fifteen grams of protein.

Review: Zone Perfect Fudge Graham Nutrition Bar

It's funny, I feel like I am doing reviews of the same product all the time because these protein/nutrition/energy bar companies have so many different flavors of products out there. I don't mind it though for a couple of reasons.  First, the difference in flavors adds some variety to the monotony of my life and second, I actually do care about all twelve of my readers.  I don't want you guys buying stuff that sucks.
