Review: MET-Rx Prime Strawberries & Cream Protein Bar
Perhaps MET-Rx has figured out that most of their bars are mammoth-sized as my prior reviews have shown and have finally figured out that in order to expand to more markets, they should shrink the size and calorie counts of their products (cleaner and leaner as the product packaging says). I was strolling through Kroger recently and I noticed that they now have a new (to me) line of shrunken down bars with this MET-Rx Prime Strawberries & Cream Protein Bar that I was able to pick up on sale for $1.67. This smaller bar comes in at a much lighter 2.29 ounces and has substantially less calories with only 200 calories and still a protein-packed twenty grams of protein. It's gluten free too, so they are also able to reach that market as well.

Review: MET-Rx NOS Pumped Orange Creamsicle Energy Bar
I've reviewed several MET-Rx products on this blog throughout its history. I was heavy on them early and then went through a long dry spell before they started introducing this NOS Pumped line of bars into my local stores. I already touched on one flavor, which I found to be not good, so it's with that bad stretch that I head into today's review of this MET-Rx NOS Pumped Orange Creamsicle Energy Bar that I picked up at Meijer for $1.33. This rather large bar clocks in at 1.94 ounces and has 220 calories with thirteen grams of protein.

Review: MET-Rx NOS Pumped Chocolate Mixed Berry Energy Bar
Early in the history of this blog, I hit a lot of MET-Rx products and compared to now, they blog was heavily meathead focused. Over time, I've drifted away from the hardcore muscle bars and have gone more toward the snack/energy bar realm. Occasionally though, I'll drift back into that hardcore world (albeit hardcore energy) and that leads me to today's review of a new product that I found on the shelves of my local Walmart with this MET-Rx NOS Pumped Chocolate Mixed Berry Energy Bar that I picked up for on sale $1.67. Each bar weighs in at 1.94 ounces and has a relatively tame 220 calories and thirteen grams of protein.

Review: MET-Rx Big 100 Colossal Chocolate Toasted Almond Bar
I've yet to figure out why I continue to buy these MET-Rx bars since I don't use them to build muscle or as meal replacement bars as they are intended, yet I continue to do reviews on them. My willingness to keep forking over cash on something I don't really want or need leads me to do yet another review with this MET-Rx Big 100 Colossal Chocolate Toasted Almond Bar from their Big 100 Colossal line of bars. Dubbed as a Meal Replacement bar, this hulking bar clocks in at 3.52 ounces and consists of 410 calories and 31 grams of protein. One note is that the bar advertises on the front of the packaging that it includes Metamyosn Protein, which admittedly sounds kind of scary because I have no idea what it is. Still, it can't be all bad, right? Oh yeah, this was picked up on sale at CVS for $2.00.

Review: MET-Rx Big 100 Rocky Road Cookie Dough Bar
In my previous reviews of MET-Rx bars, I've shared each time that these bars generally seem to me like they are for meatheads (I am not one) and that they are huge. I'll spare the long intro regurgitating that again and instead just break into the review of the bar. Firstly, I got this Big 100 Rocky Road Cookie Dough bar on sale for $2.00 at CVS and it clocks in at a gargantuan 3.52 ounces (it is a meal replacement bar after all). It's 380 calories and contains an iron pumping 28 grams of protein. The bar seems entirely manufactured, but they do manage to point out on the packaging that is does not have any artificial flavors or colors, so that is soothing I suppose.

Review: MET-Rx Big 100 Colossal Peanut Butter Caramel Crunch Bar
I've reviewed several MET-Rx bars on the blog and I've always viewed them as a bar for meatheads and weight lifting freaks. Since I am definitely not either of those things, the fact that I've reviewed these bars several times and have another review is amusing to me. Perhaps it is only amusing to me, but it is amusing nonetheless. Anyway, I picked up this MET-Rx Big 100 Colossal Peanut Butter Caramel Crunch Bar on sale with a coupon at CVS for $1.50. It's a monster bar (note the Meal Replacement Bar tagline on the wrapper) at 3.52 ounces and clocks in with 410 calories and 31 grams of protein. Basically, you are eating a small steak if you eat this. It's also naturally flavored, which I find particularly amusing since I'm this bar was almost entirely created in a science lab.

Review: MET-Rx Big 100 Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bar
These MET-Rx Big 100 bars crack me up because of how huge they are. I guess I just get a vision in my head of some meathead chomping down on one of these after a mega workout to replace the protein in his body and recover from his heavy lifting. I'm no meathead, but I did try Big 100 Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough bar out about an hour after a workout. I mentioned how huge these things are (they also double as "meal replacement" bars) and they clock in at 3.52 ounces and 370 calories with 28 grams of protein. I picked this one up on sale at CVS for about $2.50.

Review: MET-Rx Protein Plus Creamy Cookie Crisp Bar
The fantastic and never ending protein bar adventure continues with today's review of the MET-Rx Pure Protein Creamy Cookie Crisp bar which is one of the more hardcore, meathead-type protein bars that I'll look at around here and is part of the continuing MET-Rx review series. This giant bar (3.17 ounces) packs 340 calories and 30 grams of protein, so if you are looking to calorie load or protein load, this is your bar. I purchased it at CVS for around $2.50.

Review: MET-Rx Protein Plus Chocolate Roasted Peanut Bar
In the past, I've kind of had a hit or miss response with MET-Rx products. Some are really good and some are really awful and I've found that there's no real middle ground. When I purchase these protein bars, I usually buy them in bulk and in different flavors, so that leads me to the MET-Rx Protein Plus Chocolate Roasted Peanut bar. This bar is slighly larger than your average candy bar as it clocks in at three ounces. That three grams consists of 310 calories and 32 eye popping grams of protein. FYI, I got this one at CVS for around $2.50.

Review: MET-Rx Protein Plus Creamy Peanut Butter Crisp Bar
Always looking for protein and looking to get away from the seemingly endless number of Pure Protein flavors, it's time for a MET-Rx Protein Plus review. I'm sure you are pumped! Anyway, this time I'm looking at the MET-Rx Protein Plus Creamy Peanut Butter Crisp Bar which clocks in a relatively large 3.0 ounces (bigger than a typical Snickers) with 310 calories and thirty grams of protein. The packing says that this one is "Naturally Flavored", which I always find debatable with a bar that is nearly a complete work of chemical engineering, but let's not split hairs. I picked this one up at CVS for roughly $2.50.

Review: MET-Rx Big 100 Colossal Super Cookie Crunch Bar
Because of my odd daily diet of primarily fruits and vegetables, I often get asked where I get my daily protein allotment. For the longest time, I didn't really care and eventually ended up degrading into a major weakling. I finally reached a breaking point and decided that while I wasn't going to start eating meat every single day, I would at least find a way to introduce protein into my diet more regularly and that led me to start trying protein bars. That effort of trying protein bars led me to MET-Rx products and their Big 100 Colossal series of bars, which they market as meal replacement bars due to their high calorie counts. Recently, I was in CVS and picked up their MET-Rx Big 100 Colossal Super Cookie Crunch Bar variety for around $2.50.
