Review: Dean's Candy Bar Overload Ice Cream

As I've said in previous Dean's reviews, I haven't had the best luck reviewing their ice cream products.  Although, my last Dean's review of the Mackinac Island Fudge did turn out to be pretty solid, so I at least felt good heading into this review as this was a "full power" ice cream like the last one and not a low calorie/fat ice cream like the first couple.  I picked this up at Meijer on sale for $3.00 for the 1.5 quart container.  Each container contains about twelve servings of ice cream at about 160 calories per serving, so it's not a total guilt-trip/calorie bomb like Ben & Jerry's, so that is a nice feeling, I suppose.

Review: Dean's Mackinac Island Fudge Ice Cream

I haven't exactly been fond of Dean's ice cream in my previous reviews, but like the glutton for punishment (or maybe just glutton in general) that I am, I was willing to give yet another Dean's flavor a try.  This time, it was Mackinac Island Fudge.  Previously, I had only reviewed their Country Churn (lower fat/calories) ice cream, so this is the first time that I've reviewed a full-on ice cream flavor of theirs.  I don't know that it'll make a difference, but I guess that is what I and all of us will find out!  I picked this one up on sale for $3.00 for the 1.5 quart container at Meijer.  Each serving in the container contains 160 calories and there's roughly twelve servings in each container.

Review: Dean's Denali Caramel Caribou Ice Cream

I've had bad luck with Dean's so far.  My last product review was of their Country Churn Low Fat Denali Moose Tracks flavor and it was an abysmal failure.  Since I had a coupon for Dean's again, I was willing to give them one more shot with this Denali Caramel Caribou flavored ice cream.  As with all Denali products, the recipe blend is theirs but they license it to individual dairys to produced under their own label (in this case, it is Dean's obviously).

Standing in the freezer section and looking at the ingredients that this contained (toffee flavored ice cream, caramel cups and a caramel swirl), I knew I was hooked.  Caramel is delicious on its own and mixing that with toffee sounded like an intriguing and delicious combination.  FYI, this one was on sale at Meijer for $3.00  for a 1.5 quart container (I had a 55 cents off coupon to lower that) and each serving in the container (about thirteen) contains 160 calories.

Review: Dean's Country Churn Low Fat Denali Moose Tracks Ice Cream

Dean's is a national dairy brand that markets countless different products regionally and nationally through the country and one of the products that Dean's markets in my area is Dean's Country Churn Ice Cream.  Even though I was getting ice cream, which is definitely not healthy, I made the decision to get the Light Ice Cream at Meijer on sale for $3.00 for the 1.5 quart size.  The light ice cream is half the fat and 25% less calories (130 calories per half cup serving), so it is somewhat "healthy" compared to the full power version out there.  The there were several varieties, but I chose the Denali Moose Tracks (invented by a guy from Indianapolis!) flavor which consists of vanilla ice cream, chocolate peanut butter cups and a fudge swirl.  This is Denali's flavor recipe (licensed to be produced by Dean's) and since it bills itself as "Smooth & Silky", I was ready to put it to the test.
