Review: Private Selection Raspberry Cranberry Greek Yogurt

Today's review is a biggie for me.  Not because this is a monumental product or anything like that but because it ends my list of Private Selection products that I made in my initial purchasing binge of eight products at once.  Whew, what a relief.  Anyway, I picked this Private Selection Raspberry Cranberry Greek Yogurt up in my binge at the same $0.99 price and each cup is 5.3 ounces with 170 calories and eleven grams of protein.  It's also two percent milkfat, but I'm not really sure that means anything to anyone.  I know it means nothing to me.  Food is food.

Review: Private Selection Amber Honey Lowfat Greek Yogurt

After my Private Selection ice cream review binge, I figured it was time to try out some of their other products.  It should come as no surprise that they (Kroger) has decided to join the rest of the world's ridiculous infatuation with Greek yogurt by introducing their own new product varieties and that leads me to this container of Private Selection Amber Honey Lowfat Greek Yogurt that I picked up on sale at the aforementioned Kroger for $1.00.  The dual compartment container comes in at a total of 5.3 ounces and is 200 calories with eleven grams of protein.  It is two percent milkfat as well, if that means anything to any of you readers out there.

Review: Private Selection Sweet Honey Baklava Ice Cream

What I find interesting about these Private Selection ice creams that I've been focusing on is that the back of each container contains some cross-selling to other Private Selection products.  All of them state that I should pair this with some Private Selection coffee and after continually reading that and shaking my head, I finally found a flavor that the coffee pairing would make sense with in this pint of Private Selection Sweet Honey Baklava Ice Cream.  Modeled after the Greek pastry treat, this pint set me back (I use that phrase very loosely) $0.99 in a mega sale event.  As per usual, each pint is four half-cup servings and each serving comes in at 220 calories.

Review: Private Selection Coconut Caramel Flan Ice Cream

Private Selection and my proclivity toward binge purchasing continues with another Kroger-related review with one of the more interesting flavors that I picked up in my binge in this pint of Private Selection Coconut Caramel Flan Ice Cream.  I've written far too much about how my love of coconut flavor has come to me late in life, but just in case there are first time readers here, I'll just go ahead and bring it up again.  Wait, I guess I just did.  Anyway, this pint was at the same $0.99 price as the others and it is four half-cup servings of ice cream with each serving clocking in at a fairly economical 200 calories.

Review: Private Selection Pecan Pie Ice Cream

The Private Selection procession continues (like that rhyme?) with today's review adding to my review collection that was caused by an absurd sale at Kroger where I made a binge purchase of these pints of Private Selection ice cream.  These pints typically sell in the $3.00 range, but the mega sale at Kroger allowed me to get this pint of Private Selection Pecan Pie Ice Cream for a bargain basement price of $0.99.  The pint consists of the obvious four half-cup servings of ice cream and each serving comes in at 230 calories of goodness that reminds me of my favorite part of Thanksgiving and the year-end holiday season.

Review: Private Selection Chocolate Hazelnut Fudge Truffle Ice Cream

My binge through Private Selection products and through the Kroger family of stores continues this week with another review of one of their store branded (sort of) products in this pint of Private Selection Chocolate Hazelnut Fudge Truffle Ice Cream.  Some of the prior reviews have been hit or miss, so this will be another notch to determine whether positive or negative reviews are a trend in either direction.  Like the others, I picked this one up in a special sale at Kroger for $0.99.  Each pint contains the typical four half-cup servings and each serving of gourmet ice cream clocks in at 220 calories.

Review: Private Selection Amaretto Cherry Cordial Ice Cream

I went through the whole Private Selection introduction spiel in my last one of these reviews, so I'll spare you the re-hash of that.  What I will say though is that the same sale on these Private Selection products at Kroger prompted me to pick up this pint of Private Selection Amaretto Cherry Cordial Ice Cream on sale for $0.99.  Each pint contains the typical four servings of gourmet ice cream and each serving comes in at 210 calories.  While not exactly healthy, it's not a total belly buster either, so that is nice.

Review: Private Selection Cinnamon Chocolate Ice Cream

When I started this blog, it was my intent to focus only on brands that were available for mass purchases and not on specific store brands.  I've mostly stuck to that intent throughout the two years that this blog has been exposed to the world, but I figured that I could abandon that now with the subject of today's review.  Private Selection is the house brand from the Kroger family of stores and since there are over two thousand of these stores spread across the United States, a house brand at a store chain as big as this is essentially a name brand, so that means it qualifies for the blog!  These are also labeled as gourmet products, so how could I resist reviewing something so fancy?  Introduction to Private Selection aside, I picked up this pint of Private Selection Cinnamon Chocolate Ice Cream on sale at Kroger on sale for $0.99 and each of the four servings is 230 calories of store brand goodness.
