Review: Pure Protein Cranberry Almond Cashew Bar

I mentioned in my last Pure Protein bar review that Kroger sneakily put a couple of new Pure Protein flavors on the shelves of my local store and it was probably quite a while before I actually noticed it.  Well, I picked up a couple of those and today's review of this Pure Protein Cranberry Almond Cashew Bar is the second of those reviews.  Like the last, this one was $1.00 and it comes in at 1.58 ounces with 200 calories and eighteen grams of protein.  It's also gluten free for the celiacs of the world as well.

Review: Pure Protein Tropical Fruit Macadamia Nut Fruit & Nut Bar

I've spent a pretty fair amount of time looking at Pure Protein bars on this blog but it has been over eighteen months since I've taken on a review.  So when I was absentmindedly bumbling my way through Kroger, I was somewhat surprised to see another new flavor resting on the shelves of the nutrition bar section of the store.  Once I got over my mild surprise, I was sure to grab a couple of the new flavors and that leads me to today's review of this Pure Protein Tropical Fruit Macadamia Nut Fruit & Nut Bar that set me back a whole $1.00.  It's 1.86 ounces and has 200 calories that are PACKED with eighteen grams of protein (it is a high protein bar after all).  It's also gluten free if that is part of your diet.

Review: Pure Protein Blueberry with Greek Yogurt Style Coating Bar

Last time I tried out one of these Pure Protein Yogurt Style bars, I found it to taste entirely manufactured, but in some bizarre way, I actually found that appealing.  Not sure how that could happen, but it did.  I must be losing it as I get older.  Anyway, wanting to see if I had a similar experience a second time, I picked up this Pure Protein Blueberry with Greek Yogurt Style Coating Bar at Kroger for $1.00.  Just like the last, it's 1.76 ounces and has 190 calories with twenty grams of protein.

Review: Pure Protein Double Chocolate Vanilla Crunch Soft Baked Protein Bar

After a long hiatus from the blog, I recently ventured back into Pure Protein territory with one of their line of new soft baked bars and ended up having a very positive experience.  Coming off of that positive experience, I was anxious to try out another one of their bars with today's review of this Pure Protein Double Chocolate Vanilla Crunch Soft Baked Protein Bar that I picked up for $1.00 at Meijer.  Each soft baked bar is 1.58 ounces and has 190 calories and seventeen grams of protein.

Review: Pure Protein Strawberry with Greek Yogurt Style Coating Bar

I recently touched on a couple of Pure Protein's new Soft Baked products, but much to my delight, a recent trip to the store found me discovering that they also had a new line of Greek yogurt (style) coated products that are now in market as well.  Always looking to add to my so-called treasure trove of reviews, I felt it was absolutely necessary to grab this Pure Protein Strawberry with Greek Yogurt Style Coating Bar of the shelf for a review.  This bar itself comes in at 1.76 ounces and has 190 calories and a relatively robust twenty grams of protein to go along with it.

Review: Pure Protein Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Soft Baked Protein Bar

Pure Protein has gotten creative recently after a long lapse in reviews.  First (based on when I found them), the rolled out a line of Greek yogurt covered protein bars.  Now, as I perused the nutrition bar section at Meijer, I found that they've released a line of soft-baked protein bars and wanting to try out something new as always, I decided to grab this Pure Protein Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Soft Baked Protein Bar (wow, that's a long name) off the shelf for $1.25.  This soft baked bar comes in at 1.58 ounces and has 190 calories and seventeen grams of protein.

Review: Pure Protein Blueberry Crumb Cake Bar

The quest is over...this is the final Pure Protein bar review as I've finally hit all the flavors (until they introduce a new one) with this Blueberry Crumb Cake bar.  This one was picked up at Meijer on sale for $1.00 and contains 190 calories with 18 grams of protein.  It seems like kind of an odd flavor and is similar in composition to the Strawberry Shortcake bar, which I hated, so I was kind of apprehensive about eating  this one.

Review: Pure Protein Revolution Chocolate Peanut Caramel Bar

Next up in the Pure Protein series of reviews is the Pure Protein Revolution Chocolate Peanut Caramel bar.  According to their site, there is only one bar flavor that I haven't done yet (and haven't been able to find), so this may be the last one you see for a while.  This bar contains 180 calories and twenty grams of protein and was purchased at Meijer for $1.29.  Weighing in at 1.76 ounces, it's slightly smaller than a regular sized Snickers bar (2.0 ounces).

Review: Pure Protein Chewy Chocolate Chip Bar

Next up in my semi-comprehensive review series of the the Pure Protein bar offerings is the Chewy Chocolate Chip variety.  I'm a huge lover of chocolate chip cookies (who isn't?) and any time I can get the chocolate chip cookie taste in a product other than the actual cookie itself, I'm always a big fan.  Logging in 200 calories and 20 grams of protein, this one is not a freebie, but it's not a calorie killer either.  I picked this one up at Meijer for $1.29.

Review: Pure Protein Chocolate Deluxe Bar

My friendly neighborhood Meijer has a quite a selection of these Pure Protein bars, so I picked up one of each for review purposes (and to eat obviously).  This Chocolate Deluxe bar, along with all the others I purchased, was $1.29 per bar.  Loaded up with 180 calories and 20 grams of protein in a compact, but dense, 1.76 ounces, let's see how this one measured up to the others and also see if it is worth a darn.

Review: Pure Protein S'mores Protein Bar

Next up in my Pure Protein bar review series is the Pure Protein S'mores Protein Bar.  Much like all the other bars, I picked this one up at Meijer for $1.29 (I looked like more of a goof than usual that day with a shopping cart full of these things, but hey, to each their own I guess).  One bar is 180 calories and 19 grams of protein, so it is nice that it is not a calorie killer.  It's not a huge bar at only 1.76 ounces, but it's a nice protein packed treat (I use that term loosely).

As you can figure out by now and as I've said before, I walked into Meijer one day and made a massive protein bar purchase.  This was before the thought of this blog ever crossed my mind, so I was just purchasing these babies for their actual nutritional effect.  So, I purchased every single variety so I wouldn't get bored and that led me to this Pure Protein Peanut Butter Caramel Surprise Bar for $1.29.  According to Pure Protein's website, the surprise is the caramel filling, so let's see how surprising it really was.

Review: Pure Protein Peanut Marshmallow Eclipse Bar

In a lot of the names of these protein bars, you can obviously tell what the bar is trying to simulate.  For example, a Strawberry Shortcake bar is trying to impersonate an actual strawberry shortcake (see my review of Pure Protein's attempt; it was NOT a good attempt), except in protein bar form.  But, every now and then, you come across a protein bar (roughly $1.25 at Meijer) that has a mind-boggling title and this Pure Protein Peanut Marshmallow Eclipse is one of them.  Now, I obviously know what peanuts and marshmallows are, but what the heck is an eclipse as it relates to food?  I have no idea.  Granted,  it's probably just some "cute" marketers idea of making the product noticeable, but the name kind of bothers me.  Anyway, onto the review...

Review: Pure Protein Strawberry Shortcake Bar

In my never ending quest for additional protein, I was browsing through the health bar section at my local Meijer and I came across a variety of Pure Protein bars.  When looking at the packaging and seeing the tagline of "Eat Good.  Look Great.", I could not possibly resist picking this up since I'm about as vain as they come when it pertains to my looks.  Anyway, I picked up one of each flavor (more reviews coming later) for about $1.29 and the first flavor to try was this Pure Protein Strawberry Shortcake Bar.

Having had protein bars before, I was a little leery of a Strawberry Shortcake flavored protein bar and also of one that claimed it was made with "Real Fruit".  I don't see how something that is chemically engineered can advertise "real fruit", but hey, I'm willing to try anything.  This bar is packed with 19 grams of protein and 180 calories and in terms of size, is only slightly larger than a Twix bar.
