Review: Leclerc Chocomax Chocolate & Caramel Coated Nougat Bars
In my last Leclerc review, I had fun with the fact that these are made in Canada and that they pitch these pretty hard on their website (they were successful in their pitch). In the instance of today's review, I'll have a little more fun with their website pitch lines again as today's review is tagged with "Caramel and chocolate simply belong together!" Well, we'll just have to see about that, won't we? Anyway, I picked up this box of six Leclerc Chocomax Chocolate & Caramel Coated Nougat Bars on clearance at Kroger again for $2.09 and each bar in the box is 1.1 ounces and has 130 calories with one gram of protein.

Review: Ben & Jerry's Candy Bar Pie Ice Cream
So, I like candy bars, I like pies and I like ice cream. When I see something that combines all of those, it would seem like it would be the best of both worlds and something that I would absolutely pick up, right? Well, on the other hand, I don't like my waist line expanding and as I mentioned in my last Ben & Jerry's review, I've been trying to stay away from their products recently in order to maintain a semi-healthy diet. But, as I also mentioned in that review, every now and then I just can't resist when I see a sale combined with a coupon and that's what Kroger did to me and that led me to pick up this pint of limited batch Ben & Jerry's Candy Bar Pie Ice Cream on sale for $3.99 (plus a $1.00 off coupon). This pint is the standard four half-cup servings and comes in a decidedly unhealthy 300 calories per serving.

Review: Detour Lower Sugar Caramel Peanut Protein Bar
It seems that I can only find these Detour bars at one of my regular stores and that's why I've only done one review in the past. That store is Meijer and their nutrition bar section is in a part of the store that requires me to make a special trip, so on the rare occasion that I do my grocery shopping there, I even more rarely visit that section. Anyway, that boring diatribe about my shopping habits aside, I picked up this Detour Lower Sugar Caramel Peanut Protein Bar for $1.25 at the aforementioned Meijer. It is 50% less sugar (thus the name) and weighs in at 1.5 ounces with 170 calories and fifteen grams of protein.

Review: LUNA Protein Cookie Dough Bar
I've declared my love of cookie dough here on the blog before and seriously, what person doesn't love cookie dough, especially eating it its raw form? Great, now my mouth is salivating as I type this review. Time to focus...so, I've reviewed plenty of LUNA bars before, normal and protein kinds, and now its time for another review with this review of the LUNA Protein Cookie Dough Bar that I picked up at Kroger on sale for $0.99. This one comes in at 1.6 ounces and is 170 calories with twelve grams of protein.

Review: Atkins Advantage Caramel Chocolate Peanut Nougat Bar
So, I've mentioned in my prior Atkins reviews that they run promotions on their website from time to time where they give out free products as a way of promoting their "diet". It's a good thing that they do give them out for free, because every time I look at their stuff in the store, I notice the price and then keep on going. But, since it was free and I've had some good experiences, I'm always willing to try something new out and that leads me to this review of the Atkins Advantage Caramel Chocolate Peanut Nougat Bar. This one comes in at a respectable 1.6 ounces and also has a respectable 180 calories with ten grams of protein. It's marketed as a snack and/or light meal bar, so that would definitely make sense when compared to its size proportions.

Review: Atkins Endulge Caramel Nut Chew Bar
It has been a while since I've reviewed an Atkins product on the blog, because frankly, most times I find their products too expensive. So, when I saw a free giveaway online where they were giving away a "starter kit" as it related to their general weight loss plan, I hopped in and signed up and they sent me a trio of sample bars. You'll be seeing reviews of all these bars on the blog, but for the purposes of this review, we'll start with a bar from the "Endulge" line of bars with the Caramel Nut Chew bar. I would assume "Endulge" means that this is a bar where you can break your strict adherence to your diet for the occasional treat just so that you don't go batty. This bar comes in at 1.2 ounces and is 130 calories and has five grams of protein, by the way.

Review: Dean's Candy Bar Overload Ice Cream
As I've said in previous Dean's reviews, I haven't had the best luck reviewing their ice cream products. Although, my last Dean's review of the Mackinac Island Fudge did turn out to be pretty solid, so I at least felt good heading into this review as this was a "full power" ice cream like the last one and not a low calorie/fat ice cream like the first couple. I picked this up at Meijer on sale for $3.00 for the 1.5 quart container. Each container contains about twelve servings of ice cream at about 160 calories per serving, so it's not a total guilt-trip/calorie bomb like Ben & Jerry's, so that is a nice feeling, I suppose.
