Review: Kashi GOLEAN Peanut Butter & Chocolate Protein & Fiber Bar

As I've mentioned in previous Kashi reviews, I haven't exactly had the best luck with Kashi products and have found them all to be miserable.  That said, I was curious to try this Chocolate & Peanut Butter Protein & Fiber bar because really, how hard can it be to screw up chocolate and peanut butter?  Well, I guess that's why I do reviews...to find out if it is hard.  I picked this one up at Meijer for $1.29 and it's all nautral, weighs 1.94 ounces and has 200 calories, ten grams of protein and five grams of fiber to help with...well, you know.

As you can see, there's nothing particularly mind blowing about the way this bar looks.  It's a peanut butter mix (peanut butter, protein, etc.) in the interior surrounded by a chocolate shell.  The shell was a little hard, but not much harder than your garden variety candy bar.  Outside of that, it's pretty boring.

Boring is another way to describe the flavor.  The chocolate was neither sweet nor had the taste of dark chocolate either.  You could tell it was chocolate, but it didn't have any of the addictive characteristics that the taste of chocolate often has.  It was flat and almost as if it was unsweetened.  As for the peanut butter, I'd like to tell you that it was sweet, hearty and creamy, but I can't because I couldn't taste any peanut butter at all.  In fact, all the interior of this bar did was make it slightly laborious to chew because it did not add a single aspect of flavor.  I even held this one up to my nose to smell it in case my taste buds were deceiving me, but there was no smell of peanut butter either.  It just seemed to be entirely absent from the bar.

Buy It or Fly By It?  As usual with Kashi,  you are going to want to FLY BY IT.  The difference between this bar and all the other Kashi reviews I've done is that at least this wasn't repulsive like all the other Kashi products I've tasted.  Wow, describing something as not repulsive is probably not what Kashi was looking for when they produced this bar.  Although, after having had several Kashi products, I'm not sure the Kashi people care how their food tastes.  They may just throw it out there and hope people buy it for all I know.

FLY BY IT!!
