Review: Dannon Evolution Fresh Black Cherry Greek Yogurt

I guess the reason mega conglomerates become mega conglomerates is because they either have a home run/killer product or they continually roll out successful products.  Dannon may be a bit of both, but I know that they seemingly have an endless line of products that they roll out continually, of which I've only touched the tip of the iceberg here.  Upon a recent meandering of my local Meijer store, I noticed that Dannon has rolled out another line of Greek yogurts called "Evolution Fresh" where they intend on "letting the ingredients shine."  Okay then.  Anyway, the ingredients were hopefully shining in this 5.3 ounce cup of Dannon Evolution Fresh Black Cherry Greek Yogurt that I picked up for $1.09.  Packed into this cup are 120 shining calories and eleven grams of shining protein.

Review: Muller Greek 100 Black Cherry & Pomegranate Greek Yogurt

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Muller (Quaker) is copying everyone by now introducing their own version of one hundred calorie Greek yogurt.  Pretty much every product category in the world is a follow-the-leader type of game, so why shouldn't Greek yogurt be different?  The answer is that it shouldn't.  So, with this latest Muller review, they now enter the one hundred calorie Greek yogurt foray on the blog with today's look at this container of Muller Greek 100 Black Cherry & Pomegranate Greek Yogurt that I picked up on sale at Kroger for $1.00.  Each two-part container is 5.3 ounces and has (obviously) 100 calories and ten grams of protein.  Since it's one hundred calories, they've also eradicated all fat in this as well.

Review: Yoplait Greek 100 Whips! Black Cherry Greek Yogurt

Every now and then there's a product in the aisles that makes me go "hmm" and today's review is one of those products.  Yoplait, which has been touched on many, many times here on the blog, has decided to extend their one hundred calorie Greek yogurt line into a new territory by modeling the Greek yogurts after fluffy mousses.  Seems like a strange combination for me, but I do appreciate the creativity because at least to me, it seems like quite a unique idea.  So, as I was intrigued by this unique idea, I grabbed a cup of this Yoplait Greek 100 Whips! Black Cherry Greek Yogurt out of the refrigerator case at Kroger as part of their Free Friday Download promotion.  The cup of Greek yogurt itself is 4.0 ounces and unsurprisingly has 100 calories.  It's also got nine grams of protein and has no fat.

Review: Dannon Oikos Black Cherry Frozen Greek Yogurt

Sometimes a product comes out and doesn't excite me at all, so I never end up buying it.  What is funny is that something as simple as a coupon can all of a sudden excite me and get me to want to purchase something, especially when I can mix that coupon with a sale.  That's what leads me to another Dannon Oikos review as this time I'll be taking a look at a pint of their Dannon Oikos Black Cherry Frozen Greek Yogurt that I was able to pick up on sale at Kroger for $3.00 (before coupon).  This is the first time I've looked at one of their frozen yogurt products and each pint contains the typical four half-cup servings and each serving is a respectable 150 calories of six gram packed protein.

Review: Fruttare Black Cherry Ice Bars

I mentioned in my last Fruttare review that their media agency was kind enough to send me some free coupons to try out some of their new products.  Those coupons lead me to today's review as I'm going to take a look at this box of six Fruttare Black Cherry Ice Bars, which is also among their two new product offerings.  Each bar in this box is 2.4 fluid ounces and is a very economical 60 calories, so it's a "healthy" dessert treat if that is what you are looking for.

Review: Kemp's Low Fat Black Jack Cherry Frozen Yogurt

A long ago on the blog, I reviewed a Kemp's frozen yogurt product.  Being that I was incredibly unimpressed by its taste and the fact that I was also unimpressed by its cost, I was in no hurry to pick up another container.  Recently though,  I was going through my Sunday paper and saw a coupon for Kemp's in the coupon insert in the paper and since coupons cure all ill will in my mind, I was ready to take another dive into reviewing a Kemp's product on the blog.  It certainly didn't help that Kroger had this Kemp's Low Fat Black Jack Cherry Frozen Yogurt on sale for $3.50 for a 1.5 quart container, so after my coupon, I got it for a bargain basement cost of $2.50.  You really can't beat that, so I excitedly grabbed it out of the freezer case. Each half-cup serving in this container (there are twelve) is only 110 calories, so it's very, very economical on that front too.  Sale price, coupon and low calorie...score one for the Crazy Food Dude!

Review: YoCrunch Yopa! Black Cherries with Whole Grain Granola Greek Yogurt

In my previous YoCrunch Yopa! review, I was struck by how YoCrunch had done such a fine job taking a simple flavor combination and making it quite tasty. Since I had that positive experience, the next time I saw Yopa! Greek yogurts on sale at Meijer, I grabbed a few more flavors to try out and that leads to today's review of this YoCrunch Yopa! Black Cherries with Whole Grain Granola Greek Yogurt. This was on sale for $1.00 and clocks in at 100 calories for the yogurt alone and then adding the whole grain granola in ups this to 180 calories. It also has thirteen grams of protein packed into 5.3 ounces of fun.

Review: Haagen-Dazs Black Cherry Amaretto Gelato

Haagen-Dazs has been doing no favors to my waistline, but in honor of my dear readers (that's you), I'm plodding on with yet another review to add to this week's theme.  As with before, I picked up this fourteen ounce container of Haagen-Dazs Black Cherry Amaretto Gelato at a ridicuously awesome sale price at Kroger for $2.49.  As usual, this container has 3.5 half-cup sized servings and each serving of gelato checks in at 240 calories.  For those of you that are unaware what Amaretto is, it's an almond-flavored Italian liqueur.  Almonds...yum.

Review: CLIF Black Cherry Almond Bar

I've done countless CLIF Bar reviews on this blog.  Some have been good, some have been bad and others have been just bland.  My perhaps foolish attempt to try as many flavors of bars as are available leads me to the CLIF Black Cherry Almond flavor variety of CLIF's standard energy bars.  I picked this one up at Meijer for $1.09 and it comes in with typical CLIF measurements:  2.4 ounces, 240 calories and ten grams of protein.  Being that cherry and almond are two of my more liked flavors, I was curious to give this one a shot and see how well it fared.

Review: Dannon Oikos Black Cherry 0% Greek Yogurt

Dannon Oikos had a commercial in the Super Bowl last night and if it's good enough for John Stamos, it's good enough for me to do my second Dannon Oikos review, so I'm excited!  I bet you are excited too!  Ha!  Anyway, my first Oikos review ended up with me being presently surprised by how much I liked Dannon's "premium" Greek yogurt (it's "premium" because it costs the same as all other Greek yogurts with the exception of the fact that you get 0.7 less ounces of yogurt).  In this review, I'll be taking a look at the Black Cherry flavor.  This one contains 5.3 ounces of yogurt with 130 calories and twelve grams of protein.  I picked it up on sale at Marsh for $1.00.

Review: Chobani Black Cherry 0% Greek Yogurt

Full disclosure:  I have had Greek Yogurt before (I believe it was Dannon) and was not a huge fan.  But, I was I saw this Chobani 0% Greek Yogurt on sale at Meijer for $1.00, so I was willing to give it another shot hoping that my prior feelings about Greek yogurt would not impact my review.  This yogurt cup was Black Cherry flavor and weighed in at six ounces with 140 calories.  Also, since this is Greek yogurt, it has NO fat (thus the 0% in the name) and is loaded with protein at fourteen grams for the cup.  Considering there are some specialized protein bars that have that much and this essentially comes to that number naturally, it's a protein dense food.
