Review: KIND Strong & Kind Thai Sweet Chili Almond Protein Bar
He's been mentioned here before but I'll mention again that Junk Food Guy runs a pretty damn fine blog. Not only does he review products, but he also talks about sports, life, etc. I've done a lot of reviews, but I only really do quick hitter-type reviews, so just looking the sheer volume of reviews and other things that he's done is astounding to me. Anyway, I've learned via his Twitter feed that he's a big fan of savory snack bars, so today's review that adds to my KIND review series is an ode to him. I was able to pick up this KIND Strong & Kind Thai Sweet Chili Almond Protein Bar at Kroger on sale for $1.25 and the bar is 1.6 ounces and has 230 calories and ten grams of protein. It's also gluten free, among other things, so it's also got that going for it. This one also shows up as right in the middle on the Spice meter on the wrapper, so I guess I shouldn't expect to be on fire when I'm done, so that's good.

Review: Slow Food For Fast Lives Thai Bar
I didn't really cover in my last Slow Food For Fast Lives review that I was very fearful of the product going in just based on the fact that it seemed like such an odd flavor profile and was really something that I had never had in a nutrition bar before, so the fear of the unknown hit me. Well, despite the fact that I liked that particular bar, I'm just as afraid this time as I take a look at another free sample that I received in this Slow Food For Fast Lives Thai Bar. The bar itself is 1.4 ounces, has 190 calories and also has six grams of protein. It's also all natural, vegan and gluten free.

Review: Boca Bruschetta Tomato Basil Parmesan Veggie Patties
In the history of this blog, I've touched on several veggie burgers but all of them up to this point have been MorningStar Farms products. Today will be my first "adventure" into Boca Burgers territory as I take a look at this Boca Bruschetta Tomato Basil Parmesan Veggie Patties that I picked up as a box of four veggie burgers at Kroger for $3.00. Each patty comes in at 71 grams and has 90 calories with a solid thirteen grams of protein. It's also only two Weight Watchers points per serving.

Review: Smartfood Feta Herb Hummus Popped Chips
With this final review of my Kroger clearance section binge, I'll touch on the one chip that I found to have the most interesting flavor combination of the three in this small 0.8 ounce sized bag of Smartfood Feta Herb Hummus Popped Chips that I picked up at half price. Normal price is $1.00 and each bag has 110 calories of garbanzo bean based fun. As I've said in previous Smartfood reviews, hummus can sometimes be a controversial food because a lot of people really, really do not like it. I am not one of those people and I'm honestly intrigued by it. Plus, I think hummus based popped chips serve as a good base because since hummus is such a neutral flavor, it's a great base to really showcase other flavor combinations and that's what it'll be trying to do here.

Review: Smartfood Garlic Tomato Basil Hummus Popped Chips
I mentioned in my last (and also first) Smartfood review that I picked up a bunch of these mini bags of chips in the clearance section of Kroger for half their original price. That splurge leads me to the source of today's review of these Smartfood Garlic Tomato Basil Hummus Popped Chips. Typically, these lunch sized bags run at about $1.00 per bag and they are 0.8 ounces and 100 calories. I know that a lot of people are creeped out by hummus, but I find it tasty (along with the tomato basil flavor combination), so I was more than ready to try these chips out for today's review.

Review: Walden Farms Tomato & Basil Pasta Sauce
Of all the Walden Farms reviews that I've done on this blog, I think my favorite was my review of their Walden Farms Tomato Ketchup. It wasn't my favorite because it was so good, but instead because it was so awful and it caused me to write a post loaded with vitriol and disdain for the product. I don't think I've ever hated something as much as I hated that, so I was hoping that this review of the Walden Farms Tomato & Basil Pasta Sauce would save me from thinking that all Walden Farms products modeled after tomato based on products suck. I picked this one up on sale at my local Kroger for $3.69 and it's twelve ounces, zero calories, sugar free, etc.

Review: MorningStar Farms Tomato & Basil Pizza Veggie Burgers
When I was in elementary school, our school cafeteria would serve something that they called pizza burgers once a week or as least every other week. These pizza burgers consisted of a base of a hamburger bun, a "pizza" mix on top (it was more like Sloppy Joe mix) and then melted mozzarella cheese on top of that. For some reason, we all thought those were spectacularly delicious. Why do I bring that up? Well, this review of the MorningStar Farms Tomato & Basil Pizza Veggie Burgers reminded me of those. Of course, MorningStar Farms' version is nothing like those that we had in the cafeteria, but at least the name is similar enough that it reminded me of an oddly fond memory from my youth. Anyway, for this addition to the MorningStar Farms review series, I picked up a box of these pizza burgers on sale at Kroger for $3.00 and each box contains four burgers at a weight of 2.36 ounces and 120 calories per burger.

Review: Lean Cuisine Simple Favorites Linguine Carbonara
I don't eat a lot of quick, frozen, microwaveable entrees, but when I do, I try to stick to the Weight Watchers Smart Ones or Lean Cuisine varieties of meals. Since I try to stick to the healthy ones, I might as well review them for the blog, right? Well, that leads me to this Lean Cuisine Simple Favorites Linguine Carbonara that I picked up on sale for $2.00 at my local neighborhood Meijer. This one comes in at 9.25 ounces, has 280 calories and scores a seven on the Weight Watchers Points Plus scale.

Review: Quaker Popped Tomato Basil Rice Snacks
Editor's Note: While the product has stayed the same, Quaker now markets these under a different named and they are now called "Quaker Popped Tomato Basil Rice Snacks." The review below applies the same.
The next Quakes review and hopefully one of the last for a long while because I am frankly fatigued on these reviews, is a flavor that is so new (it says it on the bag, but my superior photography skills cut that part off) that Quaker does not even have a website for the flavor! It's a flavor that I saw in while meandering through Walmart in a large bag for $2.59. Each serving is 130 calories and in this large bag, there's about six servings.
