Review: Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Fudge Core Ice Cream

I've been trying to stay away from Ben & Jerry's for the most part in the recent months as I've been trying to do a better job of controlling my ice cream binges.  I've mostly been doing a fairly solid job, but every now and then one of my local stores will have a sale AND throw a coupon into their iPhone app that is pretty much just begging me to pick up a Ben & Jerry's product for another review and that's what happened with the source of today's review as I was able to pick up this pint of Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Fudge Core Ice Cream on sale for $3.00 (plus a $1.00 off coupon) at Meijer.  Each pint contains the typical four half-cup servings and each serving is a decidedly unhealthy 300 calories.  This is the first time I've looked at one of these Core products that are predicated on shooting an injection of a particular ingredient (fudge in this case) right down the middle of the pint in order to make this seem like it is two different ice creams.  Interesting idea, but interesting ideas don't always make good products.

Review: Kemp's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Frozen Yogurt

I've taken a look at a couple of Kemp's products here on the blog and have had one hit and one miss, which isn't all that surprising to me because I find most of their flavors to be somewhat boring when I look at the varieties in the freezer case.  I wouldn't expect everyone to have the creativity (or craziness depending on how you look at it) of Ben & Jerry's or some of the other manufacturers, but it appears as if Kemp's philosophy is to stick with standard flavor combinations and in the case of this Kemp's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Frozen Yogurt, they appear to have stuck to that philosophy.  I got this 1.5 quart container on sale at Kroger for $3.50 (I additionally had a $1.00 off coupon, so it was a really good deal) and it's the standard twelve half-cup servings per container.  Each serving is 130 calories, so it's a relatively "healthy" frozen treat.

Review: Velvet Ice Cream Company Denali Moose Tracks Ice Cream

If you really look at it, Moose Tracks is kind of like vanilla or chocolate in the ice cream world.  It's a flavor combination created by Denali that is licensed out to ice cream manufacturers to make under their own label. I've looked at other versions of Moose Tracks before, but never one from Velvet Ice Cream Company based out of Ohio.  In my previous Velvet review, I had my socks knocked off by how awesome their Buckeye Classic flavor was, so despite the fact that Moose Tracks is sort of a generic flavor, I had high expectations heading into this review of the 1.75 quart container of this Velvet Ice Cream Company Denali Moose Tracks Ice Cream.  My mom picked this one up, so I actually didn't pay for it (or eat it at my house as the different picture background above indicates), but I can tell you that I have seen this in Kroger for roughly $5.99 for the container.  Since this is two scoops/servings bigger than the typical ice cream container, I can tell you that this one had fourteen half-cup servings at 190 calories per serving.

Review: Breyers Blasts! Reese's Peanut Butter Cups Chocolate Frozen Dairy Dessert

I've had a lot of success with Breyers Blasts! reviews on this blog.  More often than not, I've found them to be particularly delicious and well stuffed with add-ins.  One thing I have done is try to avoid what I consider "boring" and run-of-the-mill flavors like Snickers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, etc. because I've wanted to try some off the ones that seemed (to me at least) to jump out of the freezer at the store.  While doing my typical perusing of the freezer case at Meijer recently, I saw a new Reese's variation of the Blasts! product line with this Breyers Blasts! Reese's Peanut Butter Cups Chocolate Frozen Dairy Dessert that I picked up on sale for $3.00 for a 1.5 quart container.  Each container has twelve half-cup servings and each serving is 140 calories.

Review: Turkey Hill Chocolate Nutty Moose Tracks Light Ice Cream

So on a previous jaunt through Kroger, I picked up a couple of containers of Light Ice Cream as opposed to the regular full power ice creams that I mostly review.  You've already seen one of those reviews, but I'm hear with another review with this look at the Turkey Hill Chocolate Nutty Moose Tracks Light Ice Cream.  Like the last, I picked this one up on sale at Kroger for $2.99 for a 1.5 quart container.  Each container has twelve half-cup servings of light ice cream and each serving clocks in at 140 calories.

Review: Edy's (Dreyer's) Slow Churned Fudge Tracks Light Ice Cream

Edy's is known as Dreyer's in some parts of the country (thus the two names in the review) and instead of going into a big long explanation, I'll just leave it to Wikipedia to explain why since it never lies.  Regardless, both of them are owned by Nestle.  Anyway, in 2005, Dreyer's/Edy's created their Slow Churned line of desserts that use nonfat milk and only a splash of cream to create a light ice cream that is half the fat and one-third the calories of traditional ice creams.  Healthy ice cream?  Well, not really, but the reduced calorie factor is certainly what got me interested in purchasing this Edy's Slow Churned Fudge Tracks Light Ice Cream at CVS on sale for $2.75.  Each 1.5 quart container has roughly twelve half-cup servings and each serving is 120 calories, so while not a "healthy" ice cream because no such thing exists, it is a "healthier" ice cream in the fact that it has fewer calories.

Time Waster: Candy Math Equations

Much like my post a while back about Cereal Math Equations, this could just as easily be applied to several candy products out there that have "kin" under the same brand name as well.  Some manufacturers make a wide variety of products under the same name like Snickers, M&M's, etc.  So, without further delay, here is another list of equations, this time focusing on candy.  Obviously I'm missing some flavors, on M&M's seasonal flavors especially, but one guy can only eat so much!

Just like cereal, this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to candy.  One thing you'll notice too is that all of these involve some sort of chocolate as I mostly only eat candy that has chocolate, nuts or both, so I kind of limit myself.  I'd love to see some other suggestions on chocolate/nut products and/or sweeter candies like Nerds, Twizzler, etc. if anyone wants to chime in.  I'd especially love to hear the thoughts of some of the candy bloggers out there as they are the subject matter "experts."

Review: Weight Watchers Smart Ones Peanut Butter Cup Sundae

In my previous Weight Watchers Smart Ones sundae review, I was less than impressed with the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae.  I loved the idea of a "diet" sundae, but they just didn't follow through on the execution and it ended up being an overpriced unit of borningness (new word in my personal dictionary).  Still, I figured that these Smart Ones sundaes had to make it to market somehow, so I was anxious to try out the Peanut Butter Cup Sundae that was on sale for $2.00 in the same Meijer frozen foods case as the last one.  As I said before, the dimensions of this sundae roughly resemble a deck of playing cards.  It clocks in at 2.29 ounces per sundae (two per box) and each sundae is 170 calories.
