Review: Good2Go Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Bars

Some time back, I received several boxes of Good2Go bars as free samples for reviews.  I've hurriedly looked at a couple of flavors in prior reviews, but I've put aside the remaining two flavors for a while as I addressed other products.  Well, I'm back and now it's time to knock out these remaining two flavors of free samples.  So, here we are with this box of eight Good2Go Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Bars.  Each bar in the box is 2.47 ounces and has 298 calories with eighteen grams of protein, so there's definitely some girth here.  It's also gluten fee, so it does have that going for it if that is something that you are looking for.

It's been so long since I reviewed these that I forgot what they looked like, which is why I was surprised at this when I took it out of the box and broke the bar in half for the picture above.  There are an impressive amount of large sized peanuts and chocolate chips spread throughout this bar.  Within the main mix of the bar is the aforementioned peanut butter from the product's name, but also some touches of honey and cinnamon.  The bar itself had a slight hint of cinnamon, but I will say it was surprisingly flaky and I don't mean that in a good way.  I mean that it was somewhat dry.  I'm guessing that the refrigerator storage of these (Good2Go recommends it) plays a large part in that.

Biting into this, it was immediately tough and dry.  I was definitely not a big fan of that.  As for the rest of the package, it was kind of flat.  Yes, the chocolate chips and peanuts that were spread throughout did provide for some pop and crunch in the texture, but the bar was so tough to chew (and so dry) that they really did not have the intended affect.  As for flavor, there was peanut butter flavor there but it wasn't strong or overly prevalent.  It just "was" and that's all I can really say about it.  The chocolate (chips) in this were basically non-existent from a flavor perspective too, so when all of this was rolled together, this basically ended up being one big block of blah.

Buy It or Fly By It?  A block of blah is not a great indicator of a product's viability and appeal, so I'll go ahead and give this a FLY BY IT rating.  Too bad because these bars have generally been good and it had the materials to be a good bar, but it did not execute on that promise unfortunately.

FLY BY IT!!
