Review: Cascadian Farm Organic Vanilla Chip Chewy Granola Bars

I would ordinarily stay away from something like today's review because it sounds so boring.  But, as I've proven many times before, a coupon will cause me to do things I wouldn't ordinarily do and when Meijer gave me a Cascadian Farm Organic product coupon that entitled me to a $1.50 off, my interest was immediately piqued.  On a recent trip, I saw that these bars were on sale for $3.00 per box, so I knew that with my $1.50 off coupon, I'd be getting a box of these six Cascadian Farm Organic Vanilla Chip Chewy Granola Bars for a steal to add to my review collection.  Each bar in the box is 1.2 ounces and is a modest 140 organic calories with a minimal two grams of protein.

I didn't expect this bar to be too mysterious and the box took away that mystery since it laid it out there for all to see....not that I needed that though.  Being that this bar had such a simple name, I would have already expected a granola bar with vanilla chips spread throughout and that's what I got.  I will say that I was pleasantly surprised by the number of vanilla chips and that they did have a strong smell of vanilla, which was good.  The bar was also quite soft and pliable, so that was a good indicator that this would be a chewy bar as well.  Outside of that, there's not much else to say.

There's not much else to say about the flavor either.  It tasted exactly like I would have expected and wanted it to taste.  It was a chewy granola mixed with the occasional quick pop of vanilla chips, which then melted to coat the chewy granola.  Their vanilla flavor was a strong and also quite addicting.  Quite honestly, this tasted BETTER than I would have hoped because the vanilla chips were so sweet and vanilla-y (yes, I made up that word).  It really was an excellent combination.

Buy It or Fly By It?  It's not often that I get really excited about such a basic bar, but I did get really excited about this one because it was so good.  Immediately after finishing the one that I snapped the picture for this review, I went back to the box and grabbed another because I just wanted more, more, more.  Being addicting like that is clearly an indicator of a product that gets a BUY IT rating, don't you think?  Well, this one gets that and if you want something basic, but delicious, this is an excellent option.
