Review: Harvest Snaps Lightly Salted Snapea Crisps

I've had these laying around my house for a bit and I can honestly say that I haven't been too excited to review them, thus them laying around for a while.  It eventually got to the point that I figured I should review these (especially since I wanted to eat them before the "Best By" date), so today's review is of this snack sized bag of Harvest Snaps Lightly Salted Snapea Crisps that I picked up for free somewhere (perhaps work?).  Each bag is 0.75 ounces and has 100 calories, so it's a light snack in terms of physical amount and calorie count.

The bag takes away some of the mystery about how these will look, but it's always neat to see how the packaging reflects what something actually looks like (like a McDonald's Big Mac), so pulling these out was an educational experience.  What these were was a light and airy dried (baked) pea.  They had a light dusting of salt on them too and outside of that, the only really other notable aspect is that they smelled kind of like peas and salt.

Biting into one of these certainly provided me with that airy and brittle crunch that I would expect from a baked product.  In terms of the flavor, the salt was definitely noticeable and it had somewhat of a vegetable taste, but for the most part, it was extremely boring.  The only thing that saved this from being a whole lot of nothing is the addition of the light salt.  Outside of that, I can't think of anything else to say because I'm as bored typing this review as I was eating these crisps.

Buy It or Fly By It?  These were boring, so I've got to give them a FLY BY IT rating.  That said, had these been more salted or matched with a dipping sauce (like mustard, which would make them more salty), these may have worked.  Without that extra salty component, I can't say that these are worth anyone's time.

FLY BY IT!!

  1. I buy these all the time, well not the lightly salted ones. The wasabi, and ceasar ranch are both pretty good. If you want a sweet one Calbee also has Salted Caramel which I thought was VERY good.

  3. you are full of it. these things kick butt. the wasabi ones are the best guilt free snack that has ever landed upon my lips. there are also tomato-basil baked lentils that are made by the same company and they are AMAZING. now I can't say that the lightly salted ones aren't boring, because there's no flava (yes I'm aware of that typo), but maybe you're the boring one in choosing something so bland as a food choice.
