Review: Dannon Oikos Fruit on the Bottom Apricot Mango Greek Yogurt

I mentioned in two prior Dannon Oikos reviews that I went on a purchase binge at my local Marsh and purchased a trio of Oikos products for review.  The first two reviews were of the Traditional Greek yogurt variety, but today's is of the "Fruit on the Bottom" variety, so it's a little different.  Anyway, I grabbed this single serving cup of Dannon Oikos Fruit on the Bottom Apricot Mango Greek Yogurt at the same sale price of $1.00 just like the others and each cup is 5.3 ounces with 130 calories and twelve grams of protein.  It's also non-fat, so that's fun.

Being that the fruit is on the bottom of this, you can probably guess from the photo above that I stirred this up so that fruit mix would be visible for my photo.  That apricot and mango mix had a few very, very small chunks of each and was primarily just a fruity preserve type of mix.  It had a slight sweet and tangy smell that differed from the tangy smell of the thick and creamy Greek yogurt itself, but it was nothing that particularly overpowered me.

As you might expect, the Greek yogurt itself tasted moderately tangy because that's what Greek yogurt does.  Other than that, there wasn't a whole lot of flavor.  The apricot mango mix had a couple of flavors conflicting in it with the two different fruits battling against each other.  It was alternately sweet and tangy, kind of like mixing peaches with pineapple.  The small chunks of fruit made it kind of interesting to consume and adding some textural difference to the creamy yogurt.  One thing that was interesting about that mix was that it cancelled out the tang of the Greek yogurt itself and made this kind of an unexpectedly sweet product, which was kind of fun.

Buy It or Fly By It?  As I would have expected, this was just a common flavor that while tasty, did not re-define my life in any way.  Still, I'm not always looking to have my life re-defined, so a good and safe flavor works just perfectly for me and I'll give this a BUY IT rating.  There's not much else to say here, so I'll just wrap this up by saying that if you find yourself with this in your hands, you will not regret it.

BUY IT!!
