Review: belVita Golden Oat Breakfast Biscuits

I've touched on a couple of belVita flavors previously and I've had a hit and a miss.  So, my expectations going into trying out this package of four belVita Golden Oat Breakfast Biscuits that I picked up on sale at Marsh for $1.00.  This specific package weighed in at 1.76 ounces and the four biscuits combined for 230 calories and four grams of protein.  It was made of nineteen delicious (their words) grams of whole grain as well, if that is your cup of tea.

As I could have expected, there's not a whole lot to look at with these once they are removed from the package.  It's just the standard oval-shaped biscuit made up of all the whole grains and oats.  Within that composition are some slightly visible and not entirely ground-up oat pieces and well, that's about it.  I guess I could also mention that it smelled like oats, but that's where my observations end unless you include the fact that I clearly don't know how to use a camera and my finger is ridiculously covering part of the lens above.  Guess I shouldn't have been in such a hurry when I took this photo.

In terms of flavor and texture observations, it was dry and crunchy and tasted grainy just like oats taste.  There was a mild hint of sweetness, which was nice, but outside of that oat taste there was not much of anything going on here and that was perfectly fine.  That bland oat flavor would work well dipped in coffee or tea and that is clearly the intent of these.

Buy It or Fly By It?  I ate these dry and even though they were very boring, I very much enjoyed them and give it a BUY IT rating.  I guess I can say that I very much enjoyed them because I every much enjoy oats, but if oats are too bland for your tastes, I'm pretty sure you won't be too fond of these.  That said, I think dipping these in coffee would make them tasty to just about anyone.

BUY IT!!
