Review: Power Crunch Original Peanut Butter Creme Protein Bar

Because I'm such a miser, I've been staying away from purchasing the subject of today's review because the little wizard in my head had me convinced that these were too expensive, which is foolish.  When they finally did go on sale from the "unfair" price, I finally picked up this Power Crunch Original Peanut Butter Creme Protein Bar for $1.25 at my local Kroger.  These bars and their "targeted protein delivery" (from the wrapper) come in at 1.4 ounces and have 200 calories and thirteen grams of protein.

As you can see from the photo above, this is a pretty basic bar.  The interior of the bar is a standard wafer cookie with what appear to be layers of peanut butter in between the layers of wafer.  The entire bar itself is then ensconced in a delightfully smelling white Peanut Butter Creme.  Since it is a wafer, it is extremely light and airy, despite the fact that the actual measurable dimensions are quite large.  Since this is so basic, there's really not a whole lot left to hit, so it was then time to dive in for a bite!

Taking my first bite, I was immediately reminded of a wafer cookie, which obviously based on the design of this bar is a good thing.  The next immediate reaction was how pleasantly and wonderfully the peanut butter and creme worked together.  It was dense and sweet, but not overly sweet.  The creme portion have a slight vanilla overtone to it and in my opinion, peanut butter and vanilla are two flavors that should be paired more often because they work quite well together. That peanut butter and vanilla was perfect with the airy snap of the wafer and all in all, this was a very tasty bar.  I would go so far as to say that the simplicity of this bar is what made it beautiful.  I didn't try to hard to be just tried to be what it was and it delivered in a great way.

Buy It or Fly By It?  I found this bar to be extremely delightful and wholeheartedly delicious and enjoyed every bite, so I give this a BUY IT rating. I find it funny that I stayed away from this for so long just because I erroneously tricked myself into thinking these were too expensive (roughly $1.75 at normal price).  Even at that price, I'd consider buying this because it was that darn good and I'd recommend that you do the same.  This is targeted protein delivery that I approve of.

  1. I'm so glad you ended up trying these! I recently got a box of the new chocolate mint flavor and to be honest, they taste just like girl scout thin mints. Seriously. And if you put them in the freezer, they get 10 times better.
    Glad you liked them.
