Review: CLIF CRUNCH White Chocolate Macadamia Granola Bar

I've reviewed a lot of CLIF products here on the blog (both LUNA and CLIF), but I haven't really gotten outside of their seasonal flavors very often, so that leads me to one of their standard product offerings in the CLIF CRUNCH White Chocolate Macadamia Granola Bar.  They bill this as an all natural granola bar and I bought this as part of a five bar box on sale at Kroger for about $4.00.  It weighs 1.5 ounces and contains 190 calories with four grams of protein.

As always, let's begin by talking about the texture of the bar.  The first thing that you notice when you open this package is that this is different than most granola bars as there are TWO thin bars in this package. Also, these bars are more lightweight/less dense than your typical granola bar and I'm guessing that is due to the fact that is more "natural" than most granola bars and is not loaded down with all sorts of sugars/syrups like your typical bar.  It looks more "natural" too.  The only problem is that the lack of sugars and syrups make this bar struggle to bind itself together and it crumbles and makes quite a mess very easily.

In terms of taste, the "natural" theme persists as well as you can truly tell that this is not loaded down with all the typical chemicals.  It has a nice clean and crunchy taste and when you reach the add-ins of the sweet white chocolate and the soft, yet hearty macadamia nuts, you are in heaven.  There aren't a lot of these add-ins, but there are enough in the bar that it certainly isn't just a granola bar with one or two little nuggets.  And, as a nut and white chocolate lover like I am, anytime I reached one of these add-ins, I just loved this even more.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Well, since I already said I loved it, this is an obvious BUY IT.  It's "natural" and while that may have a degree of bogusness (I just made up that word) to it, it is a nice flavoring.  Honestly, I just wish this bar was a little bigger (it would be a calorie load then) because after I was done eating it, I wanted to eat more.  I wanted more not because it was a small bar, but because it tasted so darn good.  What a predicament...

BUY IT!!

  1. Agreed, these are awesome and I try to keep them handy in my snack bag (I get 'em from target at $2.99 a box)

    1. My only complaint is that they break apart too easily, but that's okay. I'm willing to put up with that for the great taste.

    2. Agreed, I always put something under it so as not to make a total mess at my desk.

Hey, side note, just saw two new flavors: Blueberry Crisp and Chocolate Peanut Butter!

    3. Thanks for the tip! I believe I've seen those flavors too, so I'll have to try to remember to pick some up for a future review.

  2. I agree that they crumble, but they are one of my most favorite bars ever! I love the white chocolate macadamia combination. The regular CLIF bar version of this is good too.
