Review: Walden Farms Creamy Bacon Salad Dressing

As the mission of this blog states, I'm always looking for a way to cut calories and Walden Farms salad dressing certainly fit the bill as they are calorie free.  I've written about some Walden Farms products before in a post at WouldIBuyItAgain.com, but one of the dressing I didn't cover at that time was the Creamy Bacon variety.

When I saw this new (to me) Walden Farms Creamy Bacon Salad Dressing flavor in the store, I knew I had to try it on top of my salad.  You may disagree with me, but I find bacon to be one of the most overrated foods that exist.  Don't get me wrong, I like bacon as much as the next guy, but the way people blubber and drool over it ("everything is better with bacon", etc.) actually angers me.  Sorry, nothing is that life altering.  Dissertation aside, I was anxious to try this one because I thought there'd be no way that this dressing would live up to its name.

Review: Quaker Popped Ranch Rice Snacks

Editor's Note:  While the product has stayed the same, Quaker now markets these under a different named and they are now called "Quaker Popped Rice Snacks." The review below applies the same.

Quaker Oats has a line of mini-rice cakes that they market under the "Quakes" product name.  There are several different varieties, but for these purposes, we'll focus on the Quaker Quakes Ranch Rice Snacks.  I'm not a big fan of ranch flavored items myself, but I was willing to give these a shot in order to add some variety to the otherwise bland life of mine.  At 130 calories per serving (there's three servings in a standard size bag), it's not a big caloric hit either, so that made me even more inclined to give them a try.  I got this at Meijer on sale for about $1.00.

Review: Pure Protein Strawberry Shortcake Bar

In my never ending quest for additional protein, I was browsing through the health bar section at my local Meijer and I came across a variety of Pure Protein bars.  When looking at the packaging and seeing the tagline of "Eat Good.  Look Great.", I could not possibly resist picking this up since I'm about as vain as they come when it pertains to my looks.  Anyway, I picked up one of each flavor (more reviews coming later) for about $1.29 and the first flavor to try was this Pure Protein Strawberry Shortcake Bar.

Having had protein bars before, I was a little leery of a Strawberry Shortcake flavored protein bar and also of one that claimed it was made with "Real Fruit".  I don't see how something that is chemically engineered can advertise "real fruit", but hey, I'm willing to try anything.  This bar is packed with 19 grams of protein and 180 calories and in terms of size, is only slightly larger than a Twix bar.
