Review: Annie's Organic Berry Berry Granola Bars

The clearance section at Marsh has had some good stuff in it recently, at least in my opinion.  Today is another one of those finds in the section as I picked up an Annie's product, of which I've seen countless times in various stores, but have never wanted to make the big leap to buy any of them.  Clearance will make a guy do funny things though and that's why I decided to grab this box of Annie's Organic Berry Berry Granola Bars off the shelf.  Each box has six 0.98 ounce bars and each bar is 120 calories with two grams of protein.

Taking this out of the box and then the wrapper, it revealed itself to be not much different than a lot of different granola bars out there.  Since it was organic and in a special section of the store, I always expected this to provide some heavenly experience when I thought about Annie's products in the past.  Alas, that was not the case.  And, if you think I'm being serious about those expectations, I'll just tell you that I was being very sarcastic there.  Anyway, the bar is pretty typical.  Granola mix and then some dried berries in the mix (blueberries, raspberries).  Outside of that , the bar was sticky and definitely possessed a strong berry-like smell.

Taking a bite of this, there's two immediate things that I noticed.  First, it was very chewy.  Second, there was a lot of berry flavor in this.  Both sweet and tangy and that shouldn't be surprising based on the fact that the two berries in this were blueberries and raspberries and that's the flavor profile of both of those.  I will say that while it was very sweet and very tangy, it wasn't too much.  The granola actually did a semi-decent job of taming both down to make this quite edible and tasty.

Buy It or Fly By It?  There's one thing that's for certain on this and that's the fact that it was a properly named bar because it was berry berry.  It was a tasty berry berry and I'll give it a BUY IT rating.  A pretty nice introduction to the blog here for Annie's and maybe I'll meet her and her products again, but only in the clearance aisle.  I'm not sure I like her regular prices.  Ha!

BUY IT!!
