Review: Van's Natural Foods PB&J Blueberry and Peanut Butter Sandwich Bars

I've mentioned in every previous Van's Natural Foods review that they were gracious enough to send me some free samples and in my very first review, I took a look at a product that emulated the chosen sandwich of my youth (and also maybe my adulthood as well).  They sent two different variations and today's review of this box of Van's Natural Foods PB&J Blueberry and Peanut Butter Sandwich Bars is the other variation.  There's five bars per box and each bar is 1.40 ounces and 160 calories with four grams of protein.

This looks pretty much just like the last one that I reviewed in that its a the sandwich basically compressed down into bar form.  The bread is the cereal bar portion of the bar and the fillings with peanut butter and jelly are in between the two cereal bar portions.  Being that this is blueberry jam, the filling is obviously a blue/purple coloring and has a slight smell of blueberry.  The smell is mostly peanut butter though, which is fine by me being that I have a peanut butter obsession.

I've already said that this looked a lot like the last review and it tasted that way too, other than the fact that the jelly in this case was blueberry instead of strawberry.  Since it was blueberry, it was a little bit more tangy than a typical strawberry, but that's really the key difference here (obviously).  The peanut butter flavor was tasty and noticeable, but nothing about it screamed awesome.  The cereal bar portion tasted pretty much just like wheat bread, so like I said last time, this was pretty much a PB&J made with wheat bread.

Buy It or Fly By It?  While this was the lesser of the two PB&J bar options that I've reviewed, it was still a tasty one that I enjoyed so it gets a BUY IT rating.  I never had a lot of blueberry jelly sandwiches growing up, but if they had tasted like this, I would have been more than fine with it.  If you are looking for a gluten free, all natural version of the sandwich in bar form, this is a solid option.
