Review: Kellogg's Special K Butter Popcorn Chips

I've drilled on the Kellogg's Special K chips line many times before and today's review is of a product that I think may have been out for a while, but it is "NEW" because of the inclusion of real butter taste (or so they say).  Anyway, I picked up this box of Kellogg's Special K Butter Popcorn Chips at Kroger on sale for $2.99 and each box weighs in 4.5 ounces and has about 4.5 servings per box (about 28 chips) at 120 calories a serving.  Basically that means that this is a low calorie and "guilt free" (or less guilt) type of snack.

As you can see from the photo above, there's not a lot to look at with these.  They look like a typical tortilla chip with the exception that these have a powdery butter coating.  That coating smells exactly like movie theater butter (like the box claims), and the chips themselves smell like popcorn, so I truly did have at least the appearance that I was eating a weirdly shaped box of popcorn at my local megaplex.

Biting into these provided me that same type of movie theater experience except that these were crunchy like chips (DUH) instead of soft like popcorn.  As for the flavor, it was just like movie theater popcorn.  It was salty and buttery, although thankfully it wasn't overwhelmingly oily like that movie theater popcorn can sometimes be.  The butter flavor was not overwhelming either, which was nice, because had it been to potent, I could have seen these going south quite quickly.

Buy It or Fly By It?  These are pretty basic, but if you are a movie theater popcorn lover that wants to eat something crunchy, then these would be right up your alley.  I'm not a big movie theater popcorn lover, but I do find it appetizing and that's the same way I feel about these chips, so I'll give them a BUY IT rating.  Now, these chips can tend to get a little bland after a while, so I personally would dip them into something, but I think that is just a personal preference/eating style of my own that I'm sure not everyone subscribes to.

BUY IT!!
