Review: Dannon Light & Fit Peach Greek Yogurt

I like how Dannon is trying to take its Light & Fit line of yogurt products and expand it into the newest fad of Greek yogurt.  First, they came out with the super basic flavors like strawberry, vanilla and blueberry, but now that they've seen success with those (I'd assume), they are branching out with other "safe" but new flavors and that leads me to this Dannon Light & Fit Peach Greek Yogurt that I picked up on sale at Kroger for $1.00.  Each yogurt cup is 5.3 ounces and has 80 calories with a solid twelve grams of protein.

As you can infer from the picture above since I had to stir it up, this one arrives with the fruit beneath the Greek yogurt itself.  The fruit in this case is obviously peaches and in addition to the peach jam or compote or whatever you want to call it, there were several good-sized chunks of peaches buried beneath that thick and creamy Greek yogurt.  The container itself smelled alternately of tart Greek yogurt and sweet peach flavoring.  Neither was particularly strong, but both smells were noticeable.

I first dipped into the Greek yogurt itself and I can say that this might be one of my favorite plain-flavored Greek yogurts that I've ever had.  The tartness in this was especially tame and the fact that it was so thick almost gave it a soft-serve ice cream type of quality.  Perhaps it was my imagination, but I believe it also had a vanilla overtone to it, which I found especially tasty.  Next, I went for the peaches and their compote and it definitely had some mild peach flavor to it.  It wasn't especially strong, but that's to be expected because in my experiences, peaches are rarely a flavor that slap you in the face unless they are enhanced in some way.  Still that mild sweetness was very much appreciated.  Finally, I mixed the two components together and what I got was a creamy yogurt that alternately mixed mild flavors of sweetness and tartness for an especially pleasing taste.  It's not something that is going to slap you in the face with it's flavor strength, but it is like a warm glass of milk before bed...it's just going to make you feel comfortable.  What was nice about this too was that the peach chunks held up and added a bit of a texture difference to each spoonful that contained them and gave a very minimal amount of chew to break up the essentially liquid yogurt.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Not surprisingly, this is a very safe flavor.  Safe or not, it's a good one and worthy of a BUY IT rating.  It could be considered borderline boring, but in my mind, that's okay because this one delivers as I'd expect it too and I genuinely enjoyed eating it.  If you like peaches, I think you'll find this one to be up your alley.

BUY IT!!
