Review: Quaker Chewy Dipps Peanut Butter Granola Bar

Being that this isn't my first Dipps review, I'll spare you the long introduction.  Basically, these are the decadent version of Quaker's standard Chewy granola bars of which I've done several reviews.  What makes them decadent?  Well, that's easy...it's the chocolate.  Anyway, I picked this box of Chewy Dipps Peanut Butter granola bars up at Meijer on sale for $2.00 for a box of five.  Each bar comes in it at 1.05 ounces (smaller than the other Dipps bars by 0.04 ounces; hmm...) and has 150 calories.

With something as simple of a name as "Peanut Butter", I can honestly say that I was not expecting a lot in terms of how this bar looked and that followed through.  This bar was a basic Chewy granola bar with a layer of peanut butter on top.  Then, the whole bar was encased in a thick layer of chocolate.  That's it.  No additional add-ins, nothing "pretty", etc.  Just a pretty basic bar.

While the bar may have looked basic, it tasted kind of basic too, but the basic taste was downright delicious.  The Chewy granola mix was as you'd expect when you've eaten about a billion of these like I have, but the added peanut butter was thick, hearty and moderately sweet.  Just the peanut butter alone was decadent, but when you added in the chocolate, this bar became even better.  The chocolate was thick, creamy and sweet, but not in a make your teeth hurt kind of way.  If I had to think of a good comparison for the way everything worked together with this bar, I would say that this was very, very similar to a Reese's Cup mixed with granola.  The one difference between this bar and a Reese's Cup though was that the peanut butter in this bar was smooth while Reese's Cup peanut butter can sometimes get a little gritty, at least in my experience.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Absolutely, without a doubt BUY IT.  This bar is freaking delicious and if you don't watch yourself, you could end up mowing through more than one box of these things in one sitting and not even realize it because these can end up being so addictive.  It's absolutely one of the best Quaker Chewy products that I've ever had and I'm not saying that because I really, really like peanut butter.  I'm saying that because everything works perfectly in balance with each other and makes this into an outstanding bar.  Pick this up and I think you'll feel the same way.
