Review: CLIF Crunchy Peanut Butter Bar

Sometimes when you look at the name of a product, you just get bored.  The name may be one word or a combination of words that basically describe one flavor and nothing really excites you about it.  I ran into that problem when I saw this CLIF Crunchy Peanut Butter bar.  Now, I really love peanut butter, but seeing something described as just crunchy peanut butter kind of bores me, especially after I've reviewed so many different types of flavor combinations on this blog so far and will continue to do so in the future.  Still, in the name of being comprehensive, I'm still going to review this bar that I picked up for $1.00 at the Dollar Tree (the price was shocking, LOL).  The bar is the CLIF Bar standard 2.4 ounces and it contains 240 calories and eleven grams of protein.

The name of the product is just as boring as the composition of the bar.  It's the standard CLIF protein mix of oats, etc. bound together with peanut butter.  For a little "originality" and the crunchy part of the bar, there are also some small peanut butter chunks mixed in as well so that you just aren't chewing a soft and doughy oat mix throughout.  That's it...there's nothing else.  Are you as bored as I am yet?

For a bar called Crunchy Peanut Butter, well it tastes like crunchy peanut butter so there is not a surprise anywhere to be found in this flavor.  The peanut butter flavor is a hearty one with a very slight sweetness at the end, so there's nothing alarming or earth-shattering about the flavor.  One thing that is nice though and I have to be complimentary at some point is that the peanut pieces do add a slight crunch to the soft chewiness of the CLIF protein mix, so having that texture difference is nice as you are chewing through the bar.  Outside of that, I can't really say much else other than this bar seems like it just needs a dance partner to go along with the peanut flavor.

Buy It or Fly By It?  While this is not a bad tasting bar at all, it really isn't worth a purchase unless you are a major peanut butter freak or have a craving, so I say FLY BY IT for me personally.  You can get other CLIF Bars that have peanut butter along with some other mix-ins like chocolate or chocolate chips or whatever that would be much more tasty and "exciting" flavors than this one would be.  That said, if you do buy this bar because you have a peanut butter obsession, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

FLY BY IT!!

  1. I agree they're not the most exciting, but they're a decent sort of classic flavor - I put them with the likes of PB nature valley bars.

if you have a trader joes around you, you should try their PB and oat bars.

  3. Nothing bad in these. I absolutely love these, good for you and satisfying 11g of protein is pretty good although i'd like a little more.

  4. I like them because they actually taste good, satisfy the sweet cravings and don't have that off-putting protein/vitamin taste.
