I've shared about my absurd childhood fear of mousse before, so we'll just move on. Next flavor to review in the JELL-O Mousse Temptations line of products is the Dark Chocolate Decadence flavor. With a name like that I would expect to feel...uh...well, let's just say that the name hypes the product quite a bit. I picked this one up at Meijer for $2.50 for the six pack of cups. Each four ounce cup contains 60 calories and is sugar free.
As with all of these Temptations products, this one has quite a light feel/weight to it obviously because it is mousse and not heavy, dense pudding. Opening up the package and having had flavors of this before, it was exactly as I expect. A sponge-like and airy textured product was basically crammed into a plastic cup. Wow, that just made it sound gross.
Sadly, the product isn't gross or even good for that matter. It's just boring. It tastes like chocolate, but the taste is not really all that strong. It's not bitter, it's not sweet, it's just there. What a waste. Basically, to continue the sponge analogy, I felt like I was chewing through a wet sponge that dissolved in mouth. Not exactly appealing, but it was what it was. The one thing that this does have going for it though is that this Temptations dark chocolate flavor is at least more appealing and not as revolting as the dark chocolate flavor of the JELL-O pudding cups, so SCORE!
Buy It or Fly By It? Don't waste your time. FLY BY IT. Like I said, this one isn't offensive and awful, but it's not good either. Don't pick this up unless you are bored or have an overwhelming desire to be bored because that's all that's going to happen to you after eating this one. Bill Cosby would definitely not approve of this.
