Review: KIND Fruit & Nut Delight Fruit & Nut Bar

If you haven't figured it out from reading this blog before (if you are a regular reader), I love nuts.  No, not that kind of nuts and please get your mind out of the gutter.  This is a family friendly blog.  I love nuts like peanuts, almonds, cashews, etc. (although peanuts are not technically a nut, but instead a legume), but surprisingly am not a fan of walnuts.  Anyway, any time I come across an energy/protein/nutrition bar that includes nuts, it is right up my alley and that's what leads me to this KIND Fruit & Nut Delight bar.  Well, that's not entirely what leads me to it...KIND has monthly "KINDING Missions" where they pass out free bars to fans if you give them your e-mail address (follow the link and join the movement yourself to get a free bar).  Being that I have many different e-mail addresses, I always end up getting at least one of these every few months and that's how I got my hands on this one.  If you were to purchase this at the store though, it would probably run in the range of $1.00-$1.50.  As for the pinup model measurements of this one, it's 1.4 ounces and packs 180 calories and a minimal five grams of protein.  So, it's not a protein bar and it's not an energy bar, so that basically leaves this one out there as a nutrition or snack bar.

As you can see from my glamour shot (I don't know why I'm so hung up on the model thing right now) above, this one has a lot of nuts in the bar.  Those nuts include peanuts, almonds, Brazil nuts and walnuts.  For the fruit component, the dried fruit includes raisins, apricots and dates.  Crisp rice bits are included for added crunch in the mix as well.  All of those are bound together with a very sticky texture of honey.  Also, as you can see in the picture above, the almonds are HUGE.  The peanuts are not shrinking violets either, so just by looking at this one, you can already tell you are going to get a huge amount of crunch in this bar.

Looks are not deceiving because this one was exceptionally crunchy as I bit into it and I loved that.  The honey and dried fruit also added a nice sweet component to the salty taste of the nuts.  In terms of the nut tastes, the almonds definitely win the battle against the other nuts as their tastes are prevalent over the peanuts, etc.  The fruit tastes, on the other hand, did not really have a clear leader as they were all evenly balanced and their mushy texture added a nice balance with the crunch of the nuts.

Buy It or Fly By It?  BUY IT (or join the KINDING Mission and get a free bar).  If you love crunchy stuff like I do, you are going to love this one.  Although it is slightly waifish at 1.4 ounces, it's still a nice little all natural nutritious snack.  It's also pretty darn comparable to the Nature Valley Chewy Trail Mix Fruit & Nut bar that I've reviewed here too, so if you get your hands on either of them, you aren't going to go wrong and you'll be a happy eater in the end..

BUY IT!!
