Review: Kellogg's Special K Blondie Brownie Bites

I've reviewed my fair share of healthy and unhealthy foods on this blog and usually it is fairly easy to determine which of those categories a particular food product falls into.  The source of today's review leaves me kind of torn.  On one hand, I've looked at several Special K products in the past and those typically fall into the healthy category.  But, when you look at the product name of this Kellogg's Special K Blondie Brownie Bites, nothing about it says healthy and that's why I can't figure out how to group it.  So, I guess I won't worry about it and will just treat it as a review and that's it.  Not sure why I felt the need to describe my internal conflict there, but hey, it's my blog and my show I suppose.  Anyway, I picked up this box for $2.99 at Marsh.  Each box contains six pouches that come in at 0.74 ounces per pouch and each pouch has 100 calories.

I was all ready to type out a description of these on my own, but then I went to Kellogg's Special K website and found this description, which I found to absolutely be better than anything I could write:  "Remember the blondie brownies mom used to make? Warm, soft, delicious right out of the oven. Experience that scrumptious vanilla and butterscotch flavor again, with Special K™ Blondie Brownie Bites. Real semisweet and white chocolate chips give these little bites mighty flavor. And each pouch is a perfectly portioned 100 calories to satisfy your afternoon sweet craving."  So yes, the white and milk chocolate chips were amply spread throughout these bites.  In terms of a size comparison, I would put them somewhere around the size of a nickel, albeit in a slightly different shape.

While these were not right out of the oven and instead out of a package, I do think that two of the words that Special K used in their opening product description sentence were quite accurate.  These were soft and they were delicious and frankly, these reminded me of a semi-baked cookie dough.  Eating cookie dough was one of the great pleasured of my childhood, so reminders of that are always a good thing.  These also had great chocolate flavor as it was both sweet and rich and then the brown sugar component that led to the butterscotch flavor added to both of those things and is it was both sweet and rich as well.  All of that was punctuated with a taste of vanilla and when I look at the total package of this, it absolutely reminded me of a tiny soft-baked cookie.

Buy It or Fly By It?  The hardest part about eating these was not eating all six pouches at once because these were incredibly delicious and addictive and that easily puts them into the BUY IT category.  Whether these are actually healthy or not (who cares?), they are an awesome and calorically limited snack that I would recommend to anyone.  This is a GREAT new product offering by Kellogg's and one that they should be extremely proud of themselves for coming up with.

BUY IT!!
