The holidays bring lots of peppermint into our lives and as I mentioned in a prior holiday-themed peppermint review from earlier this week, nutrition bars also join that fray. Today's review is thinkThin adding another product to their review catalog with this thinkThin Dark Chocolate Peppermint Protein & Fiber Bar being a spin on the holiday peppermint craze. This very thin bar clocks in at 1.41 ounces and has 150 calories and ten grams of protein packed in. It's also a gluten free product as well, so there is that, I suppose.
I pulled this out of the wrapper and broke it in half and there wasn't a whole lot to look at. The bar itself was covered in a dark chocolate coating and the inside of the bar was a standard protein mix with little chocolate soy nuggets. Unlike the Zone Perfect product from earlier this week, there was no actually peppermint candy presence in this bar and because of that, it was clear that the peppermint was going to be added in chemical form. That was depressing. The bar did smell very faintly of chocolate and even more faintly of peppermint, but all in all, this was a whole lot of nothing.
Biting into it was a whole lot of nothing too. There was some flat chocolate flavor and that was the overly prevalent "flavor" in this bar. At the very end of each bite, there was a faint glimmer of peppermint flavor and it was not strong at all. Frankly, it was disappointing, especially when I was mentally comparing this to Zone Perfect's version. I suppose the chocolate soy nuggets in the interior did bring some different texture to the soft bar (it was gummy to chew), but outside of the flat chocolate flavor and the faint glimmer of peppermint, this bar had nothing else.
Buy It or Fly By It? Not unappealing, but extremely boring and mostly flavorless. That gets this a FLY BY IT rating. Given the option of this and Zone Perfect's holiday-themed offering, it would behoove you to go for the latter option and just leave this one on the shelf. Just a very disappointing product on so many levels.

I really enjoy their texture. Soft and chewy. I like the pumpkin spice one
