Review: Yasso Coconut Frozen Greek Yogurt Bars

I always see coupons for Yasso Greek frozen yogurt bars in my digital coupon apps and I always clip them with the intention of buying them so that I can give them a shot.  What always happens though is that when I get to the store and see the price (even including the coupon), I am almost automatically turned off because I don't want to pay that much for four bars.  On a recent trip to Kroger, I was armed with the same $1.00 off coupon and when I saw that these Yasso Coconut Frozen Greek Yogurt Bars on sale for $3.00 per box ($2.00 after coupon), I knew that then was the time to finally pick up a box for a review.  Before I dive into the review, I should point out that each bar in this box comes in at 3.5 fluid ounces and each has a very economical and belly friendly 80 calories.  Being that these are Greek yogurt based, this also packs a respectable six grams of protein along with it.  It's also all natural, so yippee!

As you can see, there is NOT a lot to look at with this bar.  It's milky white (despite what the resolution of my iPhone camera would lead you to believe) and being that it is yogurt, the frozen part of this has a bit softer consistency than a typical icy bar that is water based.  Outside of that and the Yasso branded stick, I can't really say that there is anything else to visually report.  In terms of smell, this bar had a very strong and pleasant (to me) aroma of coconut, so that made me want to dive in.

As I bit into this (after following the interesting instructions Yasso provided asking me to let it defrost for 1-2 minutes), I was struck immediately by a strong flavor of coconut, as I would have expected.  It was sweet and for lack of a better way to describe it at this point, aromatic.  Being that the bar was Greek yogurt based, that coconut flavor had a creamy and somewhat milky taste to go with it that was punctuated with a slight tang as Greek yogurt often provides.  The bar did have some tiny ice crystals in it conveyed the texture of some graininess, so that was kind of fun too.  Basically, this was all coconut all the time though and I was more than fine with that.

Buy It or Fly By It?  If you are a coconut person and are okay (or like) Greek yogurt, you will like this bar a lot like I did.  For me, it's a definite BUY IT rating due to the prominence of that coconut flavor.  For a person that is not exactly a fan of coconut or Greek yogurt flavor, this is probably not going to be a solution for you.

  1. What do you think of the chocolate version of this? I just bought it..

    1. This was my first time eating a Yasso product, so I don't know yet!

  2. The salted caramel version is AMAZING!!
