Review: Only Fruit bar Almonds

As I mentioned before, I sat next to a Romanian for 2.5 years in my job and I know how precise he/they can be.  It's borderline comical.  So, when I did my last Only Fruit bar review, I found the fact that the nutrition information on the label was down to decimal points, I found it only fitting (and absolutely hilarious).  Diving into today's review of this Only Fruit bar Almonds brings back memories and makes me laugh yet again.  Only Fruit bars are the gift that keep on giving, I suppose.  This bar was obtained via their website for $1.99 and it comes in at 1.4 ounces with 129 calories and 2.78 grams of protein.

Going back to my beloved ingredient list, here's how this bar is composed:  prunes 59%, almonds 19%, mixed berries (cranberries, black currants, blueberries) 11%, oat flakes 10% and cinnamon 1%.  There you go.  Now you know the exact quantities.  As for the characteristics of this, it smells lightly of cinnamon and also of prunes.  From a visual perspective, the bar has a healthy smattering of ground up almonds and oats spread throughout the fruit puree of the bar.

Biting into this provided a bar that was very chewy due to the fact that it was 70% fruit puree and very grainy since it was 29% almonds/oat flakes.  In terms of flavor, that 1% of cinnamon packed quite an initial punch but dissipated and was eventually overtaken by the flavor of the prunes and berries.  Unfortunately, the berries didn't have a lot of sweetness and were mostly flat and had a lingering aftertaste.  As for those almonds and oat flakes, they didn't have much flavor at all and all they really did to this bar was add the aforementioned graininess to each chew.

Buy It or Fly By It?  There was nothing wrong with this bar, but in the end, the flavor was just too boring to amount to anything that I'd recommend, so it gets a FLY BY IT.  Maybe this bar would do the trick for some people, but it did nothing for me.  The Romanians may be precise with their mathematics, but they need to address the flavor of this one a bit more because the entertainment provided by the packaging of this bar was not enough to make up for the lack of flavor.
