Review: MyOatmeal.com Pumpkin Spice PB Lean

I've mentioned in previous reviews that MyOatmeal.com was kind enough to send me a promo code to try out some of their products and I picked up several of them to try out.  I have to admit though, of all the products that I picked out, today's review of this 1.5 pound bag of MyOatmeal.com Pumpkin Spice PB Lean was the one that I was looking forward to the least and I'm not quite sure why either.  I typically am fascinated and enjoy pumpkin-flavored products, but for some reason, mixing pumpkin spice with peanut butter seemed horrifying to me.  Not sure why, but it just did.  Anyway, this bag had 48+ servings at fourteen grams each and each serving had 57 calories.

Being that this was pumpkin spice flavor, I was expecting that the mix would be a dark color due to the nutmeg and cinnamon components that are typically parts of any pumpkin spice mix.  Oddly, this wasn't particularly dark at all and actually, the vanilla frosting mix was darker.  Strange.  Regardless, I could see flecks of the aforementioned spices within this finished product and it smelled alternately of those spices and the nutty component of the peanut butter flavor.  Outside of that, there's not a lot to say since this is one that the user basically constructs on their own, thus controlling the consistency, thickness, etc.

Upon taking my first spoonful and letting it sit in my mouth for a minute to capture the flavor, my immediate thought was that I was a complete idiot for dreading this going in.  Frankly, this was absolutely incredible.  It had a faint hint of spice to go along with the sweetness of the pumpkin and the nuttiness of the peanut flavor.  If I said that this nearly made my eyes roll back in my head, I wouldn't be exaggerating...that much.  It was that darn good.  Quick story on this to affirm that goodness:  I brought in samples of all three products to my office and to my sister and every single person that tasted it (at least seven people) said that this pumpkin spice flavor was BY FAR the best.  Descriptions included awesome, incredible, delicious and many others.  Needless to say, this was a bit popular.

Buy It or Fly By It?  My sister's response after trying this was to let me know that she hates me now for introducing her to something that she would certainly get addicted to and I share her sentiments (the addiction part) because I could see myself getting addicted to this too because it was so darn good.  It's for that reason that I give this a resounding BUY IT rating.  It was delicious and I think that anyone that tries this out themselves will most likely feel the same.

BUY IT!!
Note:  For you bargain hunters out there that are perhaps interested in trying out some MyOatmeal.com products yourself (I've tried out some others and trust me, it's worth it; you'll see those reviews coming), there is a special Crazy Food Dude promo code that will allow you to take 15% off your online order.  That code is:  crazy15.  Enjoy!

  1. Awesome. I'm a convert from pb2. PBLean is also much more economical than pb2. There are so many ways to flavor it, too. I wonder if the darker color of the vanilla had to do with the roast. They offer a dark and light roasted peanut base for those who want to construct their own PB Lean flavor.

Hope to see a review of their oatmeal soon!
