Review: Muller Greek Corner Lowfat Yogurt with Pineapple Passion Fruit

I love the Free Friday Download promotion from Kroger.  Every week, I load the coupon for something that I had no intention of buying onto my Kroger Plus card and happily march to the store looking to make my unnecessary acquisition.  On a recent week, the free download allowed me to pick up another Muller product for review and being that I've had so many of them, it was difficult to find one that I haven't tried yet.  Fortunately, after digging through the case, I was able to find this 5.3 ounce container of Muller Greek Corner Lowfat Yogurt with Pineapple Passion Fruit.  The partitioned container was 150 calories and nine grams of protein.

Being that this is a Corner product, the cup comes in they typical partitioned layout.  The plain Greek yogurt is in one partition and then the mixer of choice is in the other partition.  In this case, the mixer of choice is a marmalade of sorts with a mix of pineapples and passion fruit.  When I took a closer look, I would see chunks of pineapple spread throughout.  From an aromatic perspective, it had a strong smell of pineapple mixed with an orangish and lemonish smell.  Basically, this thing smelled very much like citrus, which made me look very forward to finding out how that citrus would mix with the tart and thick Greek yogurt of the other partition.

As always, I had to taste them separately first and the yogurt was pretty much as I'd expect in that it was thick and creamy and had a twinge of tartness.  I then went for the fruit marmalade it was tangy and sweet...basically like citrus, as I would have expected.  One thing of note is that the pineapple flavor was strong, so I definitely was not getting shorted there.  So, all that was left to do was mix them together and what I got was not what I expected at all.  Neither of the flavors really stood out and all they truly did was cancel each others strength out and make treat that was mildly sweet, mildly tangy and mildly tart.  The combination of those three flavor profiles actually made this quite smooth.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Not only was this this smooth, but I'd go so far as to say that it was delightful, so naturally that means that this gets a BUY IT rating.  I actually was disappointed when I finished this and that disappointment was not because of the flavor, but instead because I wanted more.  I was terrified going into this, but after finishing it, I can say that this was one of the biggest positive surprises that I've ever had on the blog.

BUY IT!!

  1. Aw, this was a really quality post. In theory I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real effort to make a good article... but what can I say... I procrastinate alot and never seem to get something done.
