Review: belVita Cinnamon Brown Sugar Breakfast Biscuits

I've touched on belVita's breakfast biscuits once before on this blog and while I believe they are best eaten when dipped in coffee or tea (they are British after all), I try to eat them "naked" for the purposes of keeping a "pure" review.  I know that's a silly idea, but hey, I am the Crazy Food Dude after all.  Anyway, I was standing in line at my local Marsh grocery store recently and I saw a four pack of these belVita Cinnamon Brown Sugar Breakfast Biscuits sitting on the rack just begging me to make an impulse purchase and being the impulsive goof that I am, I fell victim to the trick and forked over the $1.00 for these.  The entire package of four biscuits ways in at 1.76 ounces and has 230 calories and four grams of protein, so some simple math will help you get the per biscuit values.

As with the last breakfast biscuit review, these are a very basic product.  An airy and grainy oval-shaped biscuit is all these are.  Since cinnamon and brown sugar (molasses) are components of this, there are little specks of each spread throughout.  This also has a VERY slight smell of each of those components, but again, it is very slight.

Taking a bite of this, it was extremely dry.  Again, not surprising since these are truly intended to be dipped in coffee or tea.  It was grainy, but again, the liquid part kind of cancels that out.  As for the actual cinnamon brown sugar flavoring, I could describe it as tame, but I think I'd be describing it too generously.  This was bland, bland, bland.  It wasn't bad, just bland and because of that, I'm not sure I can add anything else.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Despite the fact that these were bland, I think I have to give these a BUY IT rating.  I know that sounds weird, but I think if I added in coffee or tea, this would have been pretty solid.  The only reason I was so bored was because of my "pure" review, which is ridiculous because that's not the way the product was intended to be consumed.  As usual, I made the foolish decision.

BUY IT!!
