Review: Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Cherry Cereal Bars

I'm at a loss here, dear readers.  These Nutri-Grain bars can tend to be so boring that I sometimes forget that I've already reviewed them and end up doing two reviews of the same product.  As I was preparing for this review, I just saw in my blog archive that I did two reviews of the same Raspberry Nutri-Grain bar.  LOL, oops.  I guess they aren't really that memorable.  Even with that said, I'm going to do another review of one of their bars with this Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Cherry Cereal Bars that I picked up on sale for a box of eight at Marsh for $2.99.  Now, I'm 100% certain I haven't reviewed this one before, so this is fresh content, if you want to call it that.  Each bar in the box is 1.2 ounces and has 120 calories with two grams of protein, by the way.

Being that we've been down this road before (not on this flavor...ha!), I'll dispense with the niceties.  This is just a standard cereal bar dusted on top with grains and also with a fruit filling.  In this case, that filling is cherry, so it's red and it smells like cherries.  Wow, creative.  Just kidding...I guess I shouldn't be so cynical.  It's just a cereal bar, so I'd be foolish to expect more.

It looks just like a cereal bar and outside of the different fruit filling, it tastes just like one too.  The cereal portion is flimsy, chewy and has the grainy/bread-type taste, as you'd expect.  The cherry filling itself was mildly sweet and provided a nice, although not at all strong, contrast to the bland cereal bar itself.  That's about it...cherry flavored cereal bar.

Buy It or Fly By It?  This is just a basic bar and that's fine because it was a basic bar that had solid flavor.  It wasn't great, but it was a nice representation of cherry flavoring and would be a more than adequate snack or even breakfast, so it gets a BUY IT rating.  These Nutri-Grain bars are sometimes overpriced, but since they are a mass produced and popular product, they always deliver at least some sort of quality and this bar definitely does that.  Now, if I could just remember to not review this bar again in about a year...

BUY IT!!
