I always struggle with Skinny Cow products. Most of the time, I find their products to be tasty, but just not quite worth the price. Being the glutton for punishment and/or masochist that I am though, I still continue to buy their overpriced products to try out and as I was walking through Meijer the other day, I saw that they've introduced a new candy product line and that leads me to this first review from that line with the Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates Peanut Butter Creme Candy. I picked up a box of this for $3.50 and each box contains six 1.0 ounce packages and each package is 130 calories (four points on the WeightWatchers Points Plus scale). Within each package are three pieces of candy, so all of you math wizards out there can calculate the size and caloric levels on your own.
Skinny Cow certainly makes these sound sexy with the product description on the package that states that these are "Velvety Milk Chocolate and Delicious Peanut Butter Creme." Hmm, who wouldn't want to eat that? After tearing open the package and subsequently breaking one of the candies in half, I can honestly say that their description is not that much of a stretch. These candies smelled strongly of both milk chocolate and also peanut butter and the peanut butter inside the candies was extremely gooey. Frankly, the look of this bar reminded me of the Caramello candy bar (obviously Caramello is filled with caramel while this is filled with peanut butter, so there is a difference) and being that I've always found that to be an awesome bar, anything that resembles that is a step ahead in my book. All of that gooey caramel was surrounded by a hard milk chocolate exterior which I've already said had a wonderful smell.
Obviously after taking a look at how gooey this was visually, it was pretty much a given that it would feel that way in my mouth and that definitely was the case. The peanut butter flavor was strong, sweet and decadent. Frankly, if someone poured this filling into a cup and allowed me to drink it, I would do it and no, that would not at all be healthy, but who cares? The milk chocolate was also sweet and when combined with the peanut butter, this was borderline sinful in its taste. Sweetness, gooeyness, et cetera...you can't really go wrong.
Buy It or Fly By It? These were $3.50 for a box of six of these packages, so there were 18 candy pieces in all and that's really not that bad of a deal when you really think about it. Typically, that's the only argument I have against Skinny Cow, but in this instance, the totally sinful and decadent taste makes the price worth it, so these get a BUY IT rating. I can't describe how addicting these could be because the hardest part for me was stopping after one package. These were so good that I could have eaten the entire box in one sitting. Grab these and I think you'll feel the same way.

ReplyDeleteYes the caramel ones are to die for but hard to locate. They aren't even advertised on the Skinny Cow website.
ReplyDeleteI only found the peanut butter ones once but see the caramel ones every time I go to the store and neither is on the Skinny Cow website but both are delicious!
