Review: Skinny Cow Strawberry Cheesecake Low Fat Ice Cream Single Serving Cup

I think I tend to be either too hard or too apprehensive of Skinny Cow products in my reviews.  I admire what they are doing in trying to bring low fat treats to the masses, but I often times question their prices and their efforts.  That said, I'll continue to try their products because I occasionally do find a winner.  So, now I'm lead to another single serving low fat ice cream cup, the Strawberry Cheesecake flavor.  This single serving is 5.8 ounces, has 150 calories and for the Weight Watchers out there, scores a four on the Points Plus scale.

Taking a look at this one, there's not a whole lot too it.  The cup is made up of cheesecake ice cream and is then mixed with strawberry "jam" that contains very minuscule strawberry bits.  The "jam" is strategically placed in four swirls that line the outside of the entire cup and weave their way from top to bottom.  Outside of that, there's not a ton going on here.

With not a whole lot visually going on, I didn't exactly have high hopes for the taste.  Fortunately, I was wrong. The ice cream part of this did legitimately taste like cheesecake and that genuinely shocked me.  It wasn't just a faint cheesecake flavor either, it was legitimately strong, although not overpowering.  The strawberry "jam" and bits also provided a nice, sweet accent to the strawberry cheesecake flavor and when you mixed the two together, you could legitimately make the argument that you were eating a strawberry cheesecake.  Okay, maybe you'd have to close your eyes to make that argument, but at least there is an argument to be made.

Buy It or Fly By It?  BUY IT.  I'm proud of Skinny Cow on this one because they absolutely did a good job with this flavor and have restored some of my faith in their products.  It reasonably approximates the real thing and is a solid tasting product.  So much so that I'm sort of excited now to try out some of the other single serving cup flavors that I see in the ice cream aisle at my local grocery store.  These occasionally go on sale for $1.00 and next time that they do, I'll be stocking up on this flavor and also grabbing some of the others to give them a shot!

BUY IT!!
