Review: Tiger's Milk Peanut Butter Nutrition Bar

This is not my first Tiger's Milk bar review on this blog.  My last review gave me a boring bar that did nothing particularly outstanding and made me wonder how America's first nutrition bar had stayed in business for so long.  Since I picked up that bar at Walmart for $0.99 along with this Peanut Butter flavored bar, I've got another review to do.  Based on my last review, it's not exactly a review that I was looking forward too.  That said, let's get to it...this King Size bar clocks in at 1.94 ounces and contains 230 calories with nine grams of protein.

When I took this one out of the packaging and broke it in half, it crumbled everywhere.  I'm not sure that is a good or a bad omen, but based on my prior Tiger's Milk review, I took that as a bad omen and became even more apprehensive about this review than I already was.  Still, I had to press on and after sweeping up the crumbles, I noticed that this bar had nothing surprising about it.  There was a peanut butter/protein interior that was coated with a thick chocolate exterior.  Outside of that, there isn't much to write or observe about this one.

So, onto the taste then.  Biting into this, the first thing I noticed was that this bar was pretty close to rock hard and difficult to chew.  In fact, it was very gummy and could almost make your mouth sort of tired if this bar was any bigger.  Still, even with that difficulty in chewing, the peanut butter flavor was strong and almost Reese's peanut butter cup-like.  The chocolate was a lot like Reese's too as it was thick, but not overwhelmingly sweet.  Personally, overly sweet chocolate can often ruin the chocolate and peanut butter combination and this bar does not do that because the chocolate is not overwhelmingly sweet.

Buy It or Fly By It?  I can't believe I'm going to do this because this wasn't exactly a positive review, but I have to give this one a BUY IT rating.  With a price tag that is less than one dollar and a flavor that resembles a Reese's peanut butter cup, you are actually getting a fairly decent bar for the value if you can get over the fact that you are going to have to work at chewing this one.  Look at it this way though, the more you chew, the more calories you burn as you are eating it.  Ha!

BUY IT!!
