Review: That's it. Apple + Coconut Bar

That's it. bars have been difficult for me to find.  They aren't in my typical stores and I've only been able to find them in healthy stores and sometimes in out of the way locations (for me).  That said, I was very appreciative when a representative of That's it. contact me recently and asked if I'd like to review a sampling of their bars to add to the limited review collection on this blog.  I happily agreed and this leads me to the first of many reviews as I take a look at this That's it. Apple + Coconut Bar.  The bar itself comes in at 1.2 ounces and has a minuscule 110 calories and one gram of protein.  The whole point of That's it. bars is that they only have the ingredients listed in the name and that is the case here as this bar is made up of one apple and 1/4 coconut.  It's also all natural, fat free, gluten free, kosher, raw and vegan.

For only having two ingredients, there's actually quite a bit to look at here as it is tough to distinguish what is what in this bar.  Granted, it's a ground up apple and coconut and there are little bits of apple and coconut spread throughout.  There's skinny shards of coconut and what looks like the outer skin of the coconut as well, which is interesting.  For the apple component, there's dried chunks of apple and what I'd guess are apple skins as well.  Visuals are really all this has going for it because when I took a smell, I could't smell any particular smell.  It had an aroma, but I really couldn't pin it on either of the named ingredients, which was interesting to perhaps only me.

When I bit into this, my first observation was that this was a very soft and very chewy bar.  The next thing I noticed was the immediate taste of apple tartness and that lingered for a bit before I got to the coconut flavor, which was there only briefly before dissipating.  If I had to describe this like I would an alcoholic drink, it's an apple bar with a coconut back.

Buy It or Fly By It?  That's it.  That's the review.  There's only two ingredients, neither of which had particularly potent flavor, so there's not a lot I can write here.  That said, I did enjoy the bar and give it a BUY IT rating.  I just wish there had been some more flavor, especially from the coconut portion of the bar because that would have been a nice little punctuation to the apple flavor that hit me initially.

BUY IT!!
