Review: Liberté Méditerranée Caramel Yogurt

There are many things in life that are great mysteries to me.  For example, it is a mystery to me how someone could possibly want to be or enjoy being a fan of the Green Bay Packers or St. Louis Cardinals.  Everything about them screams evil to me.  But, some people must like evil because both teams have a lot of fans.  Another great mystery to me is related to this blog.  In this blog's history, the most viewed post of all time is a review of a Greek yogurt product made by a Canadian company (distributed through Denver) called Liberté.  I just don't get it.  They aren't a major conglomerate, they aren't a big name, etc.  I guess that just shows the power of getting a good link.  So, looking for more good links (and more pageviews, thus more income), I figured that it would be a good idea to pick up one of Liberté's new products that popped up in my local Kroger when I was able to grab this container of Liberté Méditerranée Caramel Yogurt for $1.25.  Each container is 6.0 ounces and packs in 270 calories with 8 grams of protein.

Upon opening this, it was clearly obvious how thick that this yogurt was.  It was impressive actually.  Beneath that yogurt was the caramel portion of the package, which I've stirred up to the top for the picture above.  If I had one semi-complaint, it would be that the caramel portion of this was kind of thin and runny.  Has nothing to do with the flavor, but as I've heard on many cooking shows, people eat with their eyes too.  Anyway, I will point out that the caramel had quite a strong scent and it smelled beautifully of caramel.  Comparatively, I would say it smelled exactly like one of those little cubed caramel candies that I used to eat all the time in my youth (or keep in my sock for a week when we played a local team from the city of Carmel; it was a continuous reminder of who our opponent was that week).

In terms of flavor, I first went for the plain yogurt and it was just as the name would imply...plain.  It was a tasty plain, but plain nonetheless.  I will point out that it was extremely thick and creamy, which was quite nice.  I then went straight for the caramel and all I can say is DELICIOUS.  It had flavor profiles of both sweet caramel and burnt caramel.  It was everything you could ever hope caramel could be and it's making me drool as I type out this review the morning after I ate it.  Goodness gracious.  Lastly, I mixed both components together and that caramel retained its flavor and had the added component of cooling plain yogurt to it.  It was the complete package.

Buy It or Fly By It?  This is an easy one for me...this was incredibly delicious and gets a BUY IT rating from me.  Honestly, I wish I had one in front of me right now because I'm not not only drooling, but my stomach is rumbling in hunger just thinking about it.  I never understood how my previous Liberté review got so many pageviews, but I'd definitely understand if this one did because it's a delicious product that is worthy of having as much word spread about it as possible.  If you stumble upon this in your local store, DO NOT hesitate to grab it off the shelf.

BUY IT!!
