Review: Quaker Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bar

As you've seen on this blog in my endless reviews, Quaker has a ton of these Chewy granola bars.  I've been holding off on reviewing this Chocolate Chip flavor for one reason:  it's about as pedestrian as you can possibly get.  Don't get me wrong, chocolate chip cookies are one of my favorite things on this planet, so I've got nothing against the flavor.  I'd just rather review stuff first that people may be curious about as to something that is an old standby like a chocolate chip granola bar.  I almost feel as if I'd be just mailing it in if I did a review on this one.  But, since I did see a commercial for this flavor specifically the other day while watching the Food Network, apparently Quaker feels it is noteworthy enough of a flavor to have it star in a commercial, so I guess I should throw a review out there.

That said, this one is 100 calories and since it was bought as a part of a super awesome mega 48 pack at Sam's Club, I'm not able to attach a until price to it.  Quaker does sell these Chocolate Chip ones in smaller boxes as part of variety packs or part of ten bar boxes where they are all chocolate chip.

There's not much to say in terms of how this is constructed.  It's Quaker Chewy's standard granola mixed with decent sized chocolate chips.  That's it.  Wasn't that exciting?  I'm sure you understand why I view this flavor as so pedestrian now.

Biting into this, you basically are getting the same thing.  Don't get me wrong, it's delicious, but you are getting granola mixed with sweet chocolate chips in bar form.  That's about it.  Does it taste like a chocolate chip cookie?  No, but it does taste pretty good.

Buy It or Fly By It?  If you want something safe, reliable and tasty, then BUY IT.  If you want something that's going to knock your socks off, look somewhere else because there are better flavors in the Chewy series.  Still, you aren't going to go wrong if you do buy this one.
