Review: Dannon Light & Fit Cherry Vanilla Yogurt

I've done several Dannon Light & Fit yogurt product reviews here on the blog.  I've done reviews of the larger containers and also of the single serve containers.  Next up in that review series is a review of the Cherry Vanilla flavor of the Light & Fit non-fat yogurt line.  I picked this one up on sale at Marsh for $0.50 and like its single serve brethren, this one is 6.0 ounces and contains 80 calories.

I've got to admit that when I was preparing to open this, I just expected a pinkish yogurt and that was it.  So, imagine my surprise when I opened the container and saw somewhat plentiful small cherry bits spread throughout the container.  Any time you've got some sort of material to break up the texture of a food product, that is always a good thing.  Outside of the pinkish hue and the cherry bits, there's not a whole lot else to say here.  It looks and feels like regular non-fat yogurt in that it is thin and somewhat runny.

I loaded up my first spoonful and based on my Strawberry Cheesecake review, I was expecting to taste only one flavor even though the name of the product promised that there would be two flavors.  Well, my expectations were incorrect.  At the front end of the taste, there was a nice, sweet and mild cherry flavor.  At the back end of the taste, there was a slight zing added by the vanilla.  Neither was strong enough to overpower the other and I can honestly say that they perfectly complimented each other working in combination.  With a nice flavored yogurt, the small cherry bits spread throughout did a nice job breaking up the wiggly texture of the yogurt.

Buy It or Fly By It?  This one gets a BUY IT rating because it delivers on all the flavors that it promised in that you can taste both the cherry and vanilla.  All in all, this a slightly sweet, cooling and pleasant treat to get you through the day as a snack or as a nice small, dessert-like way to finish off your meal.  Either way, it's worth a purchase.
