Review: Noosa Cranberry Apple Yoghurt

Noosa yoghurt (yes, that is the correct spelling) is not a product that is new to the blog.  In fact, I've been very pleased with their flavors in the past as their plain yoghurt might be the best tasting plain yoghurt that I've ever seen.  On a recent trip to Kroger, I just happened to look in the dairy cooler (the special one where they keep the "healthy" dairy) and I noticed that a new Noosa product had popped up and that leads me to today's review of this limited batch Noosa Cranberry Apple Yoghurt.  Since it's a limited batch, that's just why it popped up on me...obviously.  Anyway, this set me back a whole $2.00 and that got me an 8.0 ounce container that has 280 calories and twelve grams of protein.

This is a limited fall flavor and with that, Noosa has taken the liberty to give it a cute fall product description:  "Let’s get to the core of this seasonal favorite. The flavor of juicy, tart cranberries paired with crisp, fresh-picked apples is autumn in its tastiest, most indulgent form. The perfect pick-me-up after a little leaf raking-up."  Now, I've heard of yogurt (or yoghurt) being a perfect pick-me-up, but it is a nice hunger quencher.  Anyway, this was constructed as the fruit puree on the bottom (trust me, there was more of it before I ate half the container prior to the photo) and then the plain yoghurt on the top.  The compote was cranberry red and had an impressive array of apple chunks spread throughout.  In terms of smell, it was mildly cranberry-like, but not overly potent.

I won't spend too much on the yoghurt other than to say it was thick, creamy and delicious, as it always is.  Beneath that is what is supposed to be the star of the show...the cranberry apple puree.  It was semi-thick, but had tart and sweet flavor to it.  The apples in the mix then brought some chewy texture to break up that semi-runny puree and also brought a bit more tartness and a bit more sweetness.  Eaten in mass quantities, this might be too much.  But, once I mixed this with the yoghurt, it was absolutely perfect.  The delicious yoghurt did an excellent job making that sweetness and tartness a bit more mild with out completely squashing it and they all worked well together.

Buy It or Fly By It?  Another winner for Noosa that gets a BUY IT rating.  This is only a limited batch, so you won't be able to find it for long (it may be coming off the shelves already actually).  But if you do find it, don't hesitate to snatch it up because it is definitely worth your while.

BUY IT!!
