Review: KIND Blueberry Vanilla & Cashew Fruit & Nut Bar

I've often mentioned here that I sometimes find products where it shocks me that I've never reviewed them because it seems like I would have done so in the past since it's not a new product and it's been on the shelves of my local store for quite some time.  Today's product review of this KIND Blueberry Vanilla & Cashew Fruit & Nut Bar is one of those instances I'm stunned that I've never done a review on this before.  With that, let's dive in.  This bar was picked up at Kroger for $1.37 and comes in at 1.4 ounces.  It's packing 190 calories and four grams of protein and is also all natural, cholesterol free and gluten free.

Review: Mariani Sesame Honeybar

After having reviewed several of their products and having seen consistent success in my reviews of those products, it might be time for me to join the Mariani family.  What I like about these products is they stick to basic recipes and presentations and just deliver on flavor.  That said, the source of today's review is one that I've held until last because not only is it the least basic of all the bars that I picked up in a splurge at the Walmart Neighborhood Market for $1.49, it's also the one that I was most scared of because the recipe description seemed just off to me.  Either way, it's time to plow ahead and take a look at this all natural Mariani Sesame Honeybar that comes in at 1.4 ounces with 200 calories and six grams of protein.

Review: Mariani Granola Honeybar

Mariani has had a nice little introduction on the blog as they've successfully pleased me after their shocking (to me) introduction to me when I just happened upon them at my local Walmart Neighborhood Market.  In that "shocking" introduction, I picked up four different flavors and this is the third of those four flavors as I grabbed this very basic sounding Mariani Granola Honeybar for the same $1.29 as the others.  The bar itself is 1.4 ounces and has 160 calories and a fairly minimal four grams of protein.  It's also free of a lot of things as well, including cholesterol, gluten and wheat.  In addition to that, it's also all natural, kosher and vegetarian.  Whew!  That's a lot of stuff.

Review: Mariani Trail Mix Honeybar

Every now and then, something will just sneak up on me when I'm not expecting it.  For example, I was recently standing by the deli case at my local Walmart Neighborhood Market and I happened to just glance over to one of the cooler cases nearby and next to it was a wire rack filled with a new kind of snack bar that I had never seen before.  It's placement was odd since it was right by the cheeses and nowhere near the actual snack or nutrition bars that were located in a different section of the store.  Frankly, I would have never thought to look there and Walmart is probably hurting the sales of these by having them in such an odd location.  That said, since I did happen upon them, I grabbed a handful of varieties and today's review of this Mariani Trail Mix Honeybar is the first of one of these reviews.  This bar set me back $1.29 and within the 1.4 ounce bar are 190 calories and six grams of protein.  It's also all natural, cholesterol free, gluten free, vegetarian and wheat free, so it's got a lot of healthy characteristics going for it.

Review: Wholesome Goodness Cranberry Omega Granola Bar

It's another new manufacturer!  I always love it when I stumble upon something new in my usual stores because I sometimes worry that I'm going to run out of things that I can or want to review for this blog.  In the back of my head, I know that would never be a problem, but I worry because that's just the type of person that I am.  Anyway, today's new product is a Wholesome Goodness Cranberry Omega Granola Bar that I picked up at Marsh for $1.29.  It's 1.4 ounces and has 160 calories and three grams of protein.  As the name would imply, it's good for Omega fats too, so hooray I guess.

Review: Bear Naked Peanut Butter Real Nut Energy Bar

My experiences with Bear Naked so far have been pleasant and I'm glad that I found these bars in the preppy Kroger.  That purchase binge of three bars leads me to today's review of the final bar as I took a look at the Bear Naked Peanut Butter Real Nut Energy Bar.  Like the others, I picked this one up for $1.25.  It comes in at 2.0 ounces and has 250 calories with nine grams of protein.  It's all natural and has REAL nuts, so I guess it's got that stuff going for it too.

Review: Bear Naked Maple Nut Real Nut Energy Bar

It sometimes amazes me how products can vary from store to store in the same grocery store chain.  For example, I usually traffic two-to-three different Kroger stores in my area, so I typically see the same stuff over and over.  This past weekend, I was in a Kroger that out of my ordinary area and upon perusing the nutrition bar section, I saw some bars pop up that I've never seen in my normal stores, so I snatched a few up and that leads me to today's review of this Bear Naked Maple Nut Real Nut Energy Bar that I grabbed for $1.25.  I've seen the Bear Naked granola cereals in several stores, but this is my first time seeing the actual bars.  This particular bar came it at 2.0 ounces with 260 calories and eight grams of protein.

Review: Nature's Bakery Stone Ground Whole Wheat Blueberry Fig Bar

If you check the archives of this site, and I'm not quite sure anyone would be bored enough to do that, you will see that I've been to Nature's Bakery before.  I saw recently that my local Meijer had added another flavor to their offerings, so I picked up this Nature's Bakery Stone Ground Whole Wheat Blueberry Fig Bar twin pack on sale for $1.25.  Being that it's a twin pack, it has two bars in it and each bar checks in at 1.0 ounces.  Each bar also has 100 calories and two grams of protein as well.  For those of you that are afraid of your own shadow (or just really healthy people), it's also cholesterol free, dairy free and kosher.

Review: 180 Snacks Cranberry Pomegranate Trail Mix Crunch

The delightful and magical time known as company-provided snack time it me again at the office recently and the treat of choice on this day was this single serving size bag of 180 Snacks Cranberry Pomegranate Trail Mix Crunch.  I'm sure the company picked this up as part of a megabox from Costco or some wholesaler, so I don't have a price.  What I do have is that this bag came in at 1.25 ounces and had 150 calories per serving.  In a tricky math switcheroo, this 1.25 ounce bag was actually 1.25 servings.  That means that the bag was roughly 188 calories.  I've obviously seen packaging with multiple servings before, I don't think I've ever seen something this small packaged so specially with multiple servings before.  There's a first time for everything, I guess.

Review: MorningStar Farms Veggie Bacon Strips

I think I've mentioned once or twice over the course of this year that I have happened upon giving up eating meat.  No particular reason for doing it, but I'm just challenging myself to see how long I can last.  So far, so good.  Being that I've given up eating meat, I've been trying to get out and give some meat substitute products a shot and my collection of MorningStar Farms reviews helps me meet those objectives.  Today's review is the MorningStar Farms faux version of the most overrated meat there is.  Yep, I just said it...bacon is OVERRATED.  Don't get me wrong, when I ate meat, I enjoyed bacon, but I think it gets way more love than it deserves.  Regardless, I picked up this box of MorningStar Farms Veggie Bacon Strips on sale at Kroger for $2.99 and each box is 5.25 ounces and contains about twenty (sorry, I didn't count) strips of "bacon" and each strip is 30 calories with a lonely gram of protein.

Review: Chobani Lemon 0% Greek Yogurt

As I mentioned in a previous Chobani review, I've been trying to hit up the Chobani core flavors that I missed in my first trip through the Chobani flavor catalog, prior to them blowing up and introducing all sorts of new product lines.  That attempt leads me to today's review of another one of their basic flavors with this Chobani Lemon 0% Greek Yogurt that I picked up on sale at Meijer for $1.00.  Each non-fat yogurt cup clocks in at 6.0 ounces and has 140 calories with a robust fifteen grams of protein.  Nice.  It's also all natural, cholesterol free and gluten free, if you are into those kinds of things, which we all should be actually.  Sadly, we are not and that definitely includes me.

Review: Chobani Pear 0% Greek Yogurt

As I've read in my several business and financial magazines that I read, business is booming at Chobani as they are one of the first companies to take advantage of the Greek yogurt craze.  As a way to differentiate themselves, they've introduced several new products in order to expand their profile.  Still, it's sometimes helpful to remember the products that brought you to the dance and today's review of this Chobani Pear 0% Greek Yogurt is one of those products.  I've stayed away from this flavor on the blog for some reason, but today is as good of a day as any to round out some of those core flavors (I'll be hitting on another later). I got this 6.0 ounces cup at Meijer on sale for $1.00 and each cup is 130 calories, has fourteen grams of protein and is made with all natural ingredients.

Review: Walden Farms Russian Salad Dressing

A comment on a past Haagen-Dazs post mocked me for complaining about the cost of Haagen-Dazs products and yet ignoring the fact that my "beloved" (their word) Walden Farms products are sometimes equally or more expensive.  True, guilty as charged as I've clearly done a lot of Walden Farms reviews and only rarely have complained about the cost. Since I do love Walden Farms for some absurd reason, I'm led to review another one of their products with this Walden Farms Russian Salad Dressing review.  I picked up this twelve ounce bottle at Marsh for $3.50 and as always, it's sugar free, calorie free, etc.

Review: Nature's Bakery Stone Ground Whole Wheat Raspberry Fig Bar

After my last Nature's Bakery review, Nature's Bakery itself responded via my Twitter feed that I need to try out their vanilla raspberry bar and while this Nature's Bakery Stone Ground Whole Wheat Raspberry Fig Bar isn't exactly that, it is close and here we are with another review of one of their products.  Actually, I had already purchased this, so I planned on trying another flavor anyway, but it was nice of them to interact via Twitter and give me a (biased) recommendation.  This package, just like the last, is made up of two separate fig bars and the entire contents have a combined weight of 2.0 ounces.  Each  bar in the package is 110 calories and has two grams of protein.

Review: Nature's Bakery Stone Ground Whole Wheat Apple Cinnamon Fig Bar

I've been having a lot of "what the heck?!" Moments on my visits to the grocery stores lately. Maybe I've just been oblivious the entire time, but it seems to me that there are more and more odd products making it to the store shelves. Maybe consumers are revolting against the basic products of yore and manufacturers are battling that by going more off the grid with their products, so to speak. On a recent trip to Kroger, I found what I deemed to be an odd product with this Nature's Bakery Stone Ground Whole Wheat Apple Cinnamon Fig Bar that I picked up for $1.25. Wow, try that name on for size! Each package contains two 1.0 ounce bars and each bar is 110 calories and has two grams of protein. It's also all natural, dairy free, kosher, etc. As for the stone ground part of the bar, I'll leave that up to my imagination because I'm too lazy to look it up.

Review: MorningStar Farms Mushroom Lovers Veggie Burger

With each passing day, I find myself becoming increasingly more of a vegetarian.  I still eat meat, but I only eat it maybe twice a week (usually it's one time or less).  I'm not sure why I'm making that transformation, but it's because of that transformation that I'm increasingly seeking out more vegetarian friendly foods in my grocery store aisles.  Now, I've done plenty of MorningStar Farms reviews on the blog, so it's not a new product line for me, but today's review is of one of their veggie product that I've never tried before but sounded incredibly delicious to me for the same reasons that they gave this product its name with this MorningStar Farms Mushroom Lovers Burger.  Yep, I'm a lover and I picked up a box of this on sale for $2.99 at Meijer.  Each box contains four frozen veggie burgers and each burger is 2.25 ounces, ahs 110 calories and also has seven grams of protein.  These veggie burgers are a mushroom lover's delight because they are made with ample amounts of mushrooms and in the case of this burger, those mushrooms are Portabellas and Buttons.  These burgers are also cholesterol free and 59% less fat than a typical beef burger, so there's clearly some health benefits to eating these.
