Review: Larabar Coconut Pineapple Cake Bar
In my last Larabar review, I mentioned how delighted I was to see their products make a return to the blog after nearly a year's absence. Today is the second part of the two bars that I picked up in that shopping trip at Kroger as I picked up this Larabar Coconut Pineapple Cake Bar for $1.00. The bar itself comes in at 1.6 ounces and has 190 calories with a tiny two grams of protein. If you are a big fan of health or at least attempts at health, this bar is also dairy free, gluten free, soy free and vegan.

Review: Larabar Strawberry Shortcake Bar
It's been quite a while since the oft-reviewed Larabar has made an appearance here on the blog. It's been since July 2014, in fact, so it's been almost a year. Each time I go to the store, I stroll through the aisles yearning to see a new flavor pop up that I've never tried, but it's been a lonely stroll for quite a while. On a recent stroll, I was very flabbergasted to see TWO new limited edition Larabar products sitting on the shelf at my local Kroger, so I snatched both up for $1.00 each. Today's review of this Larabar Strawberry Shortcake Bar is the first of those reviews. The bar itself clocks in at 1.6 ounces and has 200 calories with three grams of protein. It's also gluten free and vegan, so yahoo there if that is what floats your boat.

Review: Silk Tropical Pineapple Soy Yogurt
I've taken a look at a couple of Silk soy yogurt products here on the blog in the past and while I found the taste of soy yogurt to be somewhat odd, I was basically okay with those yogurts and gave them a positive rating. A coupon and a new flavor led me to pick up another Silk product on a recent trip to Kroger and for $1.00 (before coupon), I was able to grab this cup of Silk Tropical Pineapple Soy Yogurt. It's 5.3 ounces and has 140 calories and six grams of protein (plant-powered according to the website...seriously). Being that it's soy yogurt, it's also dairy free (DUH).

Review: Balance Bar Bare Mixed Berry Nut Bar
At the rate I'm going, I could almost solicit a sponsorship for this blog from Kroger as their Free Friday Download program continues to grow the number of reviews on this blog. What I do like about that program (other than the free stuff, of course) is that it forces me to look in sections of the store that I've been away from for a while and looking in those sections allows me to find new products that I have never seen before, as is the case with today's review of this Balance Bar Bare Mixed Berry Nut Bar that I can add to the already expansive collection of Balance Bar reviews. It's a 1.19 ounce bar and it has 160 calories and four grams of protein. It's also dairy free, gluten free and soy free if that floats any of your boats.

Review: Balance Bar Bare Sweet & Spicy Nut Bar
Food manufacturing is like one big game of follow the leader. Everyone copies everyone's ideas and it's just a vicious circle. You make a non-coated bar, I make a non-coated bar. You make a Greek yogurt bar, I make a Greek yogurt bar. You make a savory bar, I make a savory bar. Anyway, you get the picture. That's why it should come as no surprise that today's review subject is another bar in the line of another one of those trends...non-coated savory bars. I've looked at varieties from other manufacturers previously, but today adds to the Balance Bar review catalog as I take a look at their version with this review of the Balance Bar Bare Sweet & Spicy Nut Bar that I was able to pick up at Meijer for $1.00. Each bar is 1.19 ounces and has 160 calories and four grams of protein. It's also gluten, soy and dairy free.

Review: The GFB Gluten Free Bar Oatmeal Raisin Bar
I mentioned in a previous Gluten Free Bar review that I first thought they had been kicked out of my local Meijer, but like the Phoenix, they rose again with additional flavors. I said that I picked up a couple of flavors and today's review of this The GFB Gluten Free Bar Oatmeal Raisin Bar is the second of those flavors that I was able to grab. Like the last, this one was on the shelves of Meijer for $1.49. It clocks in at 2.05 ounces with 220 calories and twelve grams of protein. It's all natural, dairy free, soy free, vegan and obviously gluten free.

Review: The GFB Gluten Free Bar Cranberry Toasted Almond Bar
Last time I looked at one of these Gluten Free Bars, I picked it up on clearance at Meijer so I figured it was a one-time only review since they wouldn't be carrying them anymore. Well, I was wrong. Not only are they still carrying them, but they've also added more flavors and seeing that, I picked up a couple for reviews. Today's review if the first of that purchase as I take a look at this The GFB Gluten Free Bar Cranberry Toasted Almond Bar that I was able to grab for $1.49. It's 2.05 ounces and comes in with 225 calories and twelve grams of protein. It's gluten free (DUH, or as the wrapper says OBVIOUSLY) and also soy free, dairy free AND vegan.

Review: CLIF Kit's Organic Coconut + Sesame Seeds Fruit + Seed Bar
I mentioned in my last CLIF review that I binged on some bars at Earth Fare that I don't ordinarily see in my typical run-of-the-mill grocery stores and today's review is part of that same binge. I don't know why CLIF doesn't include these in the normal stores with the rest of their products, but for some reason they are exclusive to the exclusive grocery stores. I just don't get it. Anyway, I picked up this CLIF Kit's Organic Coconut + Sesame Seeds Fruit + Seed Bar at the aforementioned Earth Fare for $1.49 and the bar is 1.7 ounces with 200 calories and a very minimal two grams of protein. It's also gluten free, soy free, dairy free and made with a minimal eight ingredients. Here's to hoping that it's not flavor free.

Review: DREAM Gelato Sea Salt Caramel Almond-Based Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert
I will be the first to admit that I generally stay away from non-dairy frozen desserts for a couple of reasons. First, fortunately I am not lactose intolerant and my body does not reject dairy, so I have no need to purchase those types of products. Second, non-dairy frozen desserts are generally really expensive and since I'm such a frugal person, I just can't convince myself to take the plunge and buy them on a regular basis. That said, occasionally I'll see a digital coupon that will push me in that direction and when a $2.00 off digital coupon popped up on my Kroger app recently, I knew I had to pick up a pint of this DREAM Gelato Sea Salt Caramel Almond-Based Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert. The fact that it was a non-dairy gelato intrigued me as well because I wanted to see how that would play out. Regular price is $4.99 and each pint contains four half-cup dairy-free servings that have 140 calories per serving. Since this is non-dairy, it is also 45% less fat than typical sea salt caramel ice cream, or so says the label on the container.

Review: CLIF Kit's Organic Cherry + Pumpkin Seeds Fruit + Seed Bar
I've been trying to branch out a bit more recently and one of the ways I've been doing that is trying to hit up stores that I don't ordinarily visit. Earth Fare is one of those stores and on a lot of those visits, I find new products that I have never seen in my normal stores. That said, CLIF products are certainly not new to me as I've done a ton of reviews on them, but Earth Fare did allow me to find a bar from one of the lines that I don't typically see in my normal stores. Anyway, I picked up this CLIF Kit's Organic Cherry + Pumpkins Seeds Fruits + Seed Bar for $1.49 and the bar itself is 1.7 ounces with 170 calories and four grams of protein.

Review: KIND Nuts & Spices Madagascar Vanilla Almond Bar
Based on the number of yogurt reviews around here lately (there are more in queue), one could think that the only thing that I do these days is eat yogurt and it sure seems that way to me. Fortunately, I do manage to mix something else in every once in a while and today is one of those times as I'm packing in another KIND review. Now, ordinarily I tend to stay away from products that are boring and vanilla (get the joke?), but the presence of a "special" kind of vanilla got me to grab this KIND Nuts & Spices Madagascar Vanilla Almond Bar off the shelf at Kroger for the sale price of $1.00. The bar itself is 1.4 ounces and has 210 calories and seven grams of protein. Like most KIND bars, it's also gluten free and all natural.

Review: EcoTrek Fitness Dark Chocolate Raspberry Whole Food Bar
In my last EcoTrek Fitness bar review, I mentioned how it seems like gluten free is taking over the world. I'll spare you that diatribe again (if you even read it the first time) and just focus on the fact that today I'll be taking a look at another one of their products in this review of the EcoTrek Fitness Dark Chocolate Raspberry Whole Food Bar. I picked this one up in the same clearance sale at Meijer for $1.99 and each bar is 1.76 ounces (that seems to be a standard size for many, many bars out there oddly enough) with 195 calories and ten grams of protein. It's all natural, dairy free gluten free, vegan and consists of all sorts of fruits and vegetables, so it's got all that going for it.

Review: EcoTrek Fitness Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Whole Food Bar
When I was a kid, no one knew anything about gluten (or it seemed like at least most people didn't). Now gluten seems to be what everyone is talking about and gluten free products are invading all the stores, which I think I've mentioned before. There's gluten free sections, aisles, etc. It's kind of wild when you really think about it. Anyway, I mention this because I was in my local Meijer recently and I happened upon the subject of today's review while walking through the gluten free section (on my way to the dessert section, of course). As I passed through I noticed this EcoTrek Fitness Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Whole Food Bar on clearance for $1.99 and since I love clearance and I also need sources for reviews, I snatched this one up. This gluten and dairy free bar is 1.76 ounces with 195 calories and ten grams of protein.

Review: Elisabeth Hasselbeck's NoGii Nuts About Nuts No Gluten Paleo Bar
My last (and first) NoGii review led off talking about how polarizing a character Elisabeth Hasselbeck is, so the fact that the bar was so bland and boring was amusing to me. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but I decided that NoGii should get another shot on the blog in search of perhaps a better experience than I had already had. Everyone has a boring product every now and then, right? Why would NoGii be any different? So, it is with that perhaps sense of unfounded optimism that I picked up this Elisabeth Hasselbeck's NoGii Nuts About Nuts No Gluten Paleo Bar at Marsh for $2.49. It's 1.50 ounces and 200 calories with five grams of protein.

Review: PureFit Almond Crunch Premium Nutrition Bar
My last (and first) experience with a PureFit bar was exceptional and probably one of the better experiences that I've had in a while on this blog. So, it should go without saying that going into experience number two, my expectations were quite high. It was with those high expectations that I eagerly dove into this PureFit Almond Crunch Premium Nutrition Bar that I picked up at Marsh for $2.59. Each all natural (and premium!) bar weighs in at 2.0 ounces and has 220 calories with a hearty eighteen grams of protein. It's also dairy free, gluten free and vegan, so it's got all that going for it too.

Review: The GFB Gluten Free Bar Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar
For the regular readers of the blog, it should come as no surprise that I'm not very bright. I mention that because on a recent trip to Meijer, I was strolling through the Gluten Free section of the store and I saw a new bar on clearance that I had never seen before. I grabbed two of them and the part that makes me not very bright is that I grabbed two of the same flavor, even though I thought I grabbed different ones. Duh. Anyway, the only flavor I grabbed (despite grabbing two bars) was this The GFB Gluten Free Bar Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar that I got at the clearance price of $1.79. It's 2.05 ounces and has 240 calories with twelve grams of protein. As the name would imply, it's gluten free as well as dairy free, soy free and vegan.

Review: PureFit Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Premium Nutrition Bar
My wonderful Marsh Supermarket and its expanded nutrition section brings another new manufacturer to the blog in today's review. In that expanded and well-stocked section, I was able to pick up this PureFit Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Premium Nutrition Bar on sale for $2.59. Each bar is 2.0 ounces and has 230 calories and eighteen grams of protein. The wrapper also reads like a "who's, who" of health-targeted components in that this bar is all natural, dairy free, gluten free, kosher and vegan. I'm sure there's some others thrown in there too, but just having those aspects is like the holy grail of health in my opinion.

Review: Sage Valley Almond & Coconut Honey Bar
Every now and then, I start to have thoughts about the future of the blog and start to worry about running out of products to review (or that I'd want to review). Then things like what happened recently at my local Marsh grocery store happen. The store decided to remodel the old cafe part of the store and turn it into an area where they could sell more product. In this case, they decided to make the entire area a health/natural/nutrition foods section and by doing that, they opened me up to an entirely new selection of products to review. Thank you, Marsh...you've made sure that the blog will continue for a while. Anyway, it was in this section that I picked up this Sage Valley Almond & Coconut Honey Bar for $1.99. It comes in at 1.4 ounces with 200 calories and four grams of protein.

Review: Raw Revolution Heavenly Hazelnut Chocolate Bar
Today's review finally leads me to the end of my Raw Revolution bar splurge that I made at Whole Foods in New York City (aren't I sophisticated?). Like the others, I picked up this Raw Revolution Heavenly Hazelnut Chocolate Bar for $1.50 and each bar weighs in at 1.8 ounces. This particular bar has 230 calories and seven grams of protein packed inside it. It's also dairy free, gluten free, organic and vegan, so yippee-kay-yay mother fudger!
