Review: Dannon Light & Fit Greek Crunch Caramel Fudge Pretzel Greek Yogurt

I've already opined on the seeming lack of creativity from major manufacturers before in rolling out new products, so I'll spare you (and myself) from regurgitating that take again.  Instead, I'll just dive into another Dannon review of one of their new products as I take a look at a spin on their normal Light & Fit line of Greek yogurts with this single serving cup of Dannon Light & Fit Greek Crunch Caramel Fudge Pretzel Greek Yogurt that I was able to pick up at Kroger for $1.29.  The cups, with mix-ins, packs in 5.0 ounces of yogurt/pretzel mix and that mix racks up 130 calories and eleven grams of protein.  The yogurt is fat free, but mixing in the fudge covered pretzels adds just a tiny bit of fat to the entire package.

Review: Zone Perfect Salted Caramel Brownie Nutrition Bar

I'll admit that I don't pay much attention to the Zone Perfect bars when I'm in the store.  Perhaps I've got it stuck in my head that I've exhausted all their flavors in reviews or I'm just bored by them...I'm not sure, although I'm guessing it's more of the former than the latter.  Anyway, I was prompted to take a look at them again recently when I was given a Free Friday Download digital coupon from Kroger and when I did look, I found this Zone Perfect Salted Caramel Brownie Nutrition Bar, which is one that I've never looked at before (or noticed).  This comes in at 1.58 ounces and has 200 calories with eleven grams of protein.

Review: Liberté Méditerranée Caramel Yogurt

There are many things in life that are great mysteries to me.  For example, it is a mystery to me how someone could possibly want to be or enjoy being a fan of the Green Bay Packers or St. Louis Cardinals.  Everything about them screams evil to me.  But, some people must like evil because both teams have a lot of fans.  Another great mystery to me is related to this blog.  In this blog's history, the most viewed post of all time is a review of a Greek yogurt product made by a Canadian company (distributed through Denver) called Liberté.  I just don't get it.  They aren't a major conglomerate, they aren't a big name, etc.  I guess that just shows the power of getting a good link.  So, looking for more good links (and more pageviews, thus more income), I figured that it would be a good idea to pick up one of Liberté's new products that popped up in my local Kroger when I was able to grab this container of Liberté Méditerranée Caramel Yogurt for $1.25.  Each container is 6.0 ounces and packs in 270 calories with 8 grams of protein.

Review: Quaker Chewy Girl Scouts Caramel Coconut Granola Bars

I hate paying full price for Quaker Chewy bars and I' m guessing that every time I've bought a Chewy bar for a review on this blog, I only bought it when it was on sale.  Actually, that's probably not accurate now that I think about it because every now and then, they'll sneak out a flavor into the wild that totally shocks me.  They've done that twice recently with a couple of products that are Girl Scouts branded and today is the first of those reviews as I take a look at this box of eight Quaker Chewy Girl Scouts Caramel Coconut Bars that I picked up at Meijer for the regular price of $2.59.  Each of the eight bars in this box are 0.84 ounces and come in at 100 calories with a...actually, I'm not going to talk about the protein here because it really isn't worth it.

Review: OhYeah! Cookie Caramel Crunch Bar

I hadn't realized it (probably because I hadn't thought about it), but it's been a really long time since I've reviewed an OhYeah! product.  I mean, with a fun name like that and a wrapper that states "Unprecedented Taste", how could I not keep reviewing these bars?  Actually, that's an easy one to answer...there weren't any other flavors available in my local stores.  Kroger recently added OhYeah! products and in doing so, added a flavor that I haven't looked at before so for one whole dollar, I picked up this OhYeah! Cookie Caramel Crunch Bar.  This one's gluten free and weighs in at 1.59 ounces, packing in 180 calories and fifteen grams of protein.

Review: Ben & Jerry's Spectacular Speculoos Cookie Core Ice Cream

So yeah, I eat a lot of Ben & Jerry's.  I've had over thirty flavors that I've done reviews for on this blog, but in the grand scheme of their flavors over the years, that's not a lot.  For one guy though, I think eating that many would probably put me outside the norm.  Comes with the territory as a reviewer, I guess.  Anyway, to add to the number of flavors that I've tried, I picked up a pint of this Ben & Jerry's Spectacular Speculoos Cookie Core Ice Cream on sale at Kroger for $2.99.  Each pint contains the customary four half-cup servings and each serving is a not-so-healthy 290 calories.

Also, I went into this pint thinking I had no idea what a Speculoos cookie was.  Apparently, I was wrong and I've reviewed something with speculoos before in a Haagen-Dazs review (oohh, a competitor!).  I guess it's hard to remember things when you eat such a variety and have done over one thousand reviews.  In my very weak defense, it was over two years ago and speculoos weren't even part of the name of the flavor.

Review: Ben & Jerry's The Tonight Dough Ice Cream

In my last couple ice cream posts, I've tried to convince myself that I've been trying to be healthier recently and avoid buying ice cream.  In this post, I'm not even going to try and I'll just admit that I've fallen off the wagon and have buying ice cream again.  Part of it is because summer is approaching and the warmer weather makes me want to eat frozen treats, but another part of it is that I've dropped a bit too much weight and I need to put a couple pounds back on.  With that, I picked up this pint of Ben & Jerry's The Tonight Dough Ice Cream to add to my illustrious review catalog.  I picked this one up on sale at Kroger for $2.99 and each pint has the typical four half-cup servings at a robust 310 calories per serving.  Yikes.  It's a treat, I guess.

One more thing before I get into the review...it irritates me that this is the second ice cream flavor that Ben & Jerry's has done with Jimmy Fallon.  He was okay on Saturday Night Live Weekend Update, but outside of that, I find him particularly annoying.  I know he's supposedly doing a decent job with The Tonight Show from what I've heard, but I think his playing games with guests is just plain stupid.  Also, The Tonight Show is stupid and has been since Johnny Carson left.  I'm a David Letterman guy (he goes out this week and I'm going to miss him) and hate Jay Leno, so ever since that shift, I've hated The Tonight Show.  Okay, that's a diatribe that this blog didn't need, but I'm taking a little editorial freedom here.  Anyway, now that my whining and rambling is over, let's dive into the review!

Review: Baskin Robbins Gold Medal Ribbon Ice Cream

So I touched on Baskin Robbins and their fake pints (fourteen ounces) of ice cream last fall but haven't really done much since then.  I have been generally trying to stay away from ice cream (a very cold winter helped that), but I am shocked that it's taken this long for me to pick up another fake pint for a review.  With that brilliant and eloquent introduction, it's now time for me to take a look at this fourteen ounce container of Baskin Robbins Gold Medal Ice Cream that I picked up at Meijer on sale (with a coupon) for $2.99.  Within the fake pint (I'm not bitter), there are 3.5 servings 1/2 cup servings of ice cream and each serving is 210 calories, which is fairly modest.

Review: Dannon Light & Fit Greek Salted Caramel Greek Yogurt

This cup of Dannon Light & Fit Greek yogurt that I picked up for today's review seems to be a seasonal offering.  Not sure what season it is focused on, but if I had to venture a guess based on the packaging design, I'd guess winter.  Still, there's not really a good indication anywhere for me to see so I'll just have to wing it.  Anyway, the enormous Dannon review collection adds another one with this single serving cup of Dannon Light & Fit Greek Salted Caramel Greek Yogurt that I picked up at Kroger for $1.00.  It's clearly denoted as 80 calories on the packaging and within those eighty calories are twelve grams of protein.  This is also gluten free for those of you out there attempting to live a gluten free living.

Review: Kellogg's Special K Heavenly Caramel Brownies

Every time I write a new Kellogg's review, it seems like the introductory paragraph is always the same.  I harp on how Kellogg's continues to roll out products constantly and today's review is no different as they are rolling out ANOTHER new product that really is only a mild derivation from the products that they've put out before.  Still, this box of seven Kellogg's Special K Heavenly Caramel Brownies looked appealing enough that I was willing to pick them up on sale at Kroger for $2.49.  Not sure why they chose to put seven in a box instead of an even number like most products, but I can get down with the oddness I suppose.  Anyway, these brownies are quite tiny as they come in at a very small 0.7 ounces and pack only 80 calories and less than one gram of protein.

Review: Nature Valley Salted Caramel Peanut Nut Crisp Bars

I love me some coupons.  Digital, cut out of the paper, whatever...just give me my savings.  It's that undying love of savings that giddily caused me to "clip" a digital coupon to buy today's review subject to add to my constantly growing Nature Valley review collection.  This digital coupon was "clipped" via the Meijer iPhone app and I grabbed this box of six Nature Valley Salted Caramel Peanut Nut Crisp Bars on sale for $2.99 (plus a coupon for an additional $0.50 off).  It's a new product, so of course I was doubly giddy to mix that with a coupon (yeah, I'm a dork).  Anyway, each bar in this box is 0.89 ounces and comes in at 140 calories with four grams of protein.

Review: Chobani flip Salted Caramel Crunch Greek Yogurt

It must be new car season for the yogurt industry.  When I say new car season, I mean that it seems like many of the manufacturers are rolling out their new models (like cars) and infiltrating the stores with their new flavors.  Today's newest addition to the Chobani review catalog is one of those so-called new cars with this Chobani flip Salted Caramel Crunch Greek Yogurt that I picked up at Meijer for $1.29.  It's 5.3 ounces and comes in at 190 calories with twelve grams of protein.  As is par for the course with Chobani, it's also all natural.  It's also 1.5% milkfat if you care about that kind of thing at all.

Review: Leclerc Chocomax Chocolate & Caramel Coated Nougat Bars

In my last Leclerc review, I had fun with the fact that these are made in Canada and that they pitch these pretty hard on their website (they were successful in their pitch).  In the instance of today's review, I'll have a little more fun with their website pitch lines again as today's review is tagged with "Caramel and chocolate simply belong together!"  Well, we'll just have to see about that, won't we?  Anyway, I picked up this box of six Leclerc Chocomax Chocolate & Caramel Coated Nougat Bars on clearance at Kroger again for $2.09 and each bar in the box is 1.1 ounces and has 130 calories with one gram of protein.

Review: Balance Bar Dark Dark Chocolate Coconut Bar

After an extended absence, the blog has started a slight run on Balance Bar reviews as today's review takes another look at one of their other product lines.  With that very brief introduction, I'll dive in and report that I was able to pick up this  Balance Bar Dark Dark Chocolate Coconut Bar at Meijer for $1.00 and it comes in at 1.58 ounces and has 180 calories and thirteen grams of protein.  It's also gluten free and kosher, so it's showing a lot of balance in terms of all the audiences it can reach.  Ha, ha...get it?  What a witty writer I am.  Okay, false egotism aside, I suppose I should actually get down to the business of the review.

Review: Balance Bar Bare Sea Salt Caramel Nut Bar

Balance Bar is a product that I hit a lot in the early days of the blog and then it went a year before I reviewed it again.  I was thinking that prior to today that it had been at least eighteen months since I looked at one, but much to my surprise, I did a couple of reviews earlier this year.  Either way, review of Balance Bars have been few and far between since 2012.  So, today they make a return to the blog (again) as I take a look at this Balance Bar Bare Sea Salt Caramel Nut Bar that I was able to pick up at Meijer for $1.00.  The bar itself is 1.19 ounces and has 160 calories and five grams of protein.  It's also gluten and soy free, if you are interested in that kind of thing.

Review: Gatorade G-Series Recover Chocolate Caramel Whey Protein Bar

If you read my last Gatorade G-Series Recover bar review, it means you are probably crazy.  Ha.  No, it means that you know the backstory of how I found a couple of new flavors in an "enemy" store (one that I don't visit often) and today's review is the second and final review of the bars that I was able to find.  Like last time, I picked up this Gatorade G-Series Recover Chocolate Caramel Whey Protein Bar at Marsh for $1.99.  It clocks in at 2.8 ounces and being that it is such a large bar, it packs in 340 calories and twenty grams of protein.

Review: Baskin Robbins Pralines 'N Cream Ice Cream

When I was a kid in the 1980s growing up in the Indianapolis area, there were a fair amount of Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin Robbins stores.  For whatever reason, both of them (same company) decided to abandon the area throughout the 90s and only over the past five years or so have each of them started to come back to the area in sporadic locations.  None are near my house, which is probably a good thing for my waistline, but I've noticed recently that they've started introducing "pints" (actually fourteen ounces) of their classic ice cream flavors in my local Meijer store, probably for people like me that aren't near their Baskin Robbins ice cream shops.  Apparently these came out this past May and on a recent trip, I was armed with my ever-present coupon and decided to pick up a container of this Baskin Robbins Pralines 'N Cream Ice Cream at the sale price of $3.00 (plus my $1.00 digital coupon).  Each container is 3.5 half-cup servings and each serving is 220 calories.

Review: DREAM Gelato Sea Salt Caramel Almond-Based Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert

I will be the first to admit that I generally stay away from non-dairy frozen desserts for a couple of reasons.  First, fortunately I am not lactose intolerant and my body does not reject dairy, so I have no need to purchase those types of products.  Second, non-dairy frozen desserts are generally really expensive and since I'm such a frugal person, I just can't convince myself to take the plunge and buy them on a regular basis.  That said, occasionally I'll see a digital coupon that will push me in that direction and when a $2.00 off digital coupon popped up on my Kroger app recently, I knew I had to pick up a pint of this DREAM Gelato Sea Salt Caramel Almond-Based Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert.  The fact that it was a non-dairy gelato intrigued me as well because I wanted to see how that would play out.  Regular price is $4.99 and each pint contains four half-cup dairy-free servings that have 140 calories per serving.  Since this is non-dairy, it is also 45% less fat than typical sea salt caramel ice cream, or so says the label on the container.

Review: Yoplait Greek Caramel 2% Greek Yogurt

In general, I like the way yogurt tastes, so I'm more inclined to buy it.  What I don't like about yogurt is that it has expiration dates.  I mention that because I do most of my shopping in splurges and buy multiple items of the same product to review and with most products, the expiration dates are so far away that it really doesn't matter.  With yogurt, that's not the case and it often bugs me because I end up eating a bunch of yogurt in a short period of time and I eventually get sick of it.  That's what's starting to happen to me right now as a lot of sale prices and free giveaways have gotten me to start hammering the yogurt products, Yoplait included, that I joked a bit ago about re-naming this blog to Crazy Yogurt Dude.  I'm not sure why I'm whining about this year, but I guess it's my prerogative since it's my blog.  Alright, with that whining off my chest, it's now time to take a look at a new flavor of Yoplait Greek yogurt with this look at a single serving cup of Yoplait Greek Caramel 2% Greek Yogurt that I picked up for $1.00 at Kroger.  The cup is the mostly typical 5.3 ounces and has 150 calories and eleven grams of protein.

Review: Klondike Kandy Caramel & Peanuts Ice Cream Bars

Despite the fact that I've reviewed plenty of them on the blog, including some Klondike bars, I generally stay away form purchasing ice cream bars.  I'm more of a grab a spoon and eat straight out of the ice cream container kind of guy, but occasionally a coupon and/or crazy sale will lead me to buy a box of ice cream bars and that's where we are today.  Meijer was running a sale and also had a digital coupon that allowed me to pick up a box of these Klondike Kandy Caramel &Peanuts Ice Cream Bars for $2.00 (I think they were usually around $4.50) and each box has four bars that check in at 2.75 fluid ounces.  Each bar is also 200 calories of caramel, peanut and light vanilla ice cream, so the fact that "light" is included in their somewhere makes this a diet product, right?  Okay, probably not.
