Review: Dannon Light & Fit Greek Crunch Caramel Fudge Pretzel Greek Yogurt

I've already opined on the seeming lack of creativity from major manufacturers before in rolling out new products, so I'll spare you (and myself) from regurgitating that take again.  Instead, I'll just dive into another Dannon review of one of their new products as I take a look at a spin on their normal Light & Fit line of Greek yogurts with this single serving cup of Dannon Light & Fit Greek Crunch Caramel Fudge Pretzel Greek Yogurt that I was able to pick up at Kroger for $1.29.  The cups, with mix-ins, packs in 5.0 ounces of yogurt/pretzel mix and that mix racks up 130 calories and eleven grams of protein.  The yogurt is fat free, but mixing in the fudge covered pretzels adds just a tiny bit of fat to the entire package.

Review: Fiber One 90 Calorie Mint Fudge Brownies

For the longest time, I was entirely against the combination of mint and chocolate.  I just did not like it and that was reflected in this blog as I generally stayed away from reviewing products that had that flavor combination.  Times (and tastes) change though and now, I not only can tolerate the mint and chocolate combination, but I will go so far as to say that I like it and seek it out.  It's with that new found appreciation, that I happily grabbed this new box of Fiber One 90 Calorie Mint Fudge Brownies off the shelves of my local Meijer for $2.50 to not only add to my Fiber One review collection, but to also add one more mint and chocolate combination to this blog.  Each box of these brownies includes six brownies an each brownie is 0.89 ounces with 90 calories (DUH).  Protein isn't important here (one gram), but fiber obviously is and this bar will definitely help you there as it has 20% of your total daily fiber based on a 2,000 calorie diet.  So, this is going to help you...ummm...down there.

Review: Ben & Jerry's Save Our Swirled Ice Cream

So we all know Ben & Jerry's can get creative with their names and my numerous reviews have shown that.  What some of us know, but not all know, is that Ben & Jerry's is also a very socially and politically active company that advocates many causes such as world peace, climate initiatives, etc.  Today's review of this pint of Ben & Jerry's Save Our Swirled Ice Cream is a flavor that they've put out to raise awareness of their Climate Movement.  In order to do that, they've even put a cute missive on the flavor's webpage that states "SOS! It’s more than just a call to action: it’s a swirled-class flavor you can’t resist, and a climate change message you can’t ignore. If it’s melted, it’s ruined."  I'll refrain from commenting on the issue itself (there's more detail on the site and also in my link above), but I can appreciate the creativity in the name and that brief missive.  Anyway, the pint itself is the typical four half-cup servings and each serving is a somewhat economical (for Ben & Jerry's) 250 calories per serving.  I picked this up on closeout at Kroger for $2.74, so I'm not sure how much longer it'll be on the shelves or if it is being transitioned out already.

Review: Skinny Cow Triple Chocolate Ripple Low Fat Ice Cream Bars

I've been shying away from Skinny Cow product reviews because their flavors have gone stale and because their products are just too expensive to buy on a regular basis.  On a recent trip to Kroger, not only was I met with a sale but I was also met with some new flavors of products in their low fat ice cream bar line.  One of those products was this box of five Skinny Cow Triple Chocolate Ripple Low Fat Ice Cream Bars that I was able to pick up for $2.99 on sale, which is a pretty solid price for Skinny Cow products.  Typically, they run $4-5.  Anyway, each bar in the box is 2.65 fluid ounces and comes in at 170 calories per bar.

Review: JELL-O Fudge Brownie Pudding Snacks

I know you can't tell from the flow of reviews on the blog because I keep such a backlog of reviews (at least I did before; that backlog is pretty thin now), but today's review is the first review that I've typed up in over a week and I'm finding it hard to get back into the swing of things as I enjoyed my "vacation" too much.  Despite that enjoyment, I was recently strolling through my neighborhood Marsh and I saw something on the shelf that just popped out at me and made me decided "VACATION OVER" as I wanted to give this four pack of JELL-O Fudge Brownie Pudding Snacks a review for the blog.  This is a limited edition product that adds to the plethora of JELL-O reviews that I've done already.  This four pack set me back $2.39 and each container is an oddly sized 3.875 ounces with 120 calories.

Review: Kellogg's Special K Divine Fudge Brownies

So here we go again with Kellogg's Special K.  I already took a look at a different new version of these Special K brownies, but since I seemingly buy everything in pairs, today's review is a look at the newly released Kellogg's Special K Divine Fudge Brownies that I picked up for the same $2.49 price as the previous box at Kroger.  Like last time, Kellogg's has oddly (pun intended) decided to put SEVEN of these brownies in a box as opposed to a typical six, eight or ten.  Each brownie in the box is a diminutive 0.7 ounces and packs 80 calories with less than one gram of protein.

Review: Klondike Kandy Fudge Krunch Ice Cream Bars

I mentioned in my previous Klondike review that Meijer basically dared me into buying a bunch of Klondike products with a sale that they were running.  Falling victim to that dare once again, I picked up a box of these four Klondike Kandy Fudge Krunch Ice Cream Bars in the same sale for $1.99.  As you can see by the name of these bars, Klondike is quite fond of the letter "K" as they use it three times in the product name, two of which are attempts at being cute and are completely unnecessary.  Oh well, if that "K" is part of your brand strategy, then I guess I get it since I work in marketing too and understand the desire/need to have a way to make yourself stand out.  Anyway, each bar in this box of four weighs in at 2.75 ounces and has 180 calories of light ice cream fun.

Review: Ben & Jerry's Candy Bar Pie Ice Cream

So, I like candy bars, I like pies and I like ice cream.  When I see something that combines all of those, it would seem like it would be the best of both worlds and something that I would absolutely pick up, right?  Well, on the other hand, I don't like my waist line expanding and as I mentioned in my last Ben & Jerry's review, I've been trying to stay away from their products recently in order to maintain a semi-healthy diet.  But, as I also mentioned in that review, every now and then I just can't resist when I see a sale combined with a coupon and that's what Kroger did to me and that led me to pick up this pint of limited batch Ben & Jerry's Candy Bar Pie Ice Cream on sale for $3.99 (plus a $1.00 off coupon).  This pint is the standard four half-cup servings and comes in a decidedly unhealthy 300 calories per serving.

Review: Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Fudge Core Ice Cream

I've been trying to stay away from Ben & Jerry's for the most part in the recent months as I've been trying to do a better job of controlling my ice cream binges.  I've mostly been doing a fairly solid job, but every now and then one of my local stores will have a sale AND throw a coupon into their iPhone app that is pretty much just begging me to pick up a Ben & Jerry's product for another review and that's what happened with the source of today's review as I was able to pick up this pint of Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Fudge Core Ice Cream on sale for $3.00 (plus a $1.00 off coupon) at Meijer.  Each pint contains the typical four half-cup servings and each serving is a decidedly unhealthy 300 calories.  This is the first time I've looked at one of these Core products that are predicated on shooting an injection of a particular ingredient (fudge in this case) right down the middle of the pint in order to make this seem like it is two different ice creams.  Interesting idea, but interesting ideas don't always make good products.

Review: South Beach Diet Fudgy Chocolate Mint Snack Bars

I typically stay away from South Beach Diet bars because they are so expensive, but every now and then, there's a coupon that comes through one of my coupon apps on my phone that makes it reasonable to purchase a box of these bars and do a review.  A $3.00 off coupon recently came through my Kroger app and that led me to pick up this box of six (one bonus bar!) South Beach Diet Fudgy Chocolate Mint Snack Bars at Kroger for $2.99 after coupon.  Each bar in this box is a somewhat small-sized 0.98 ounces and comes in with 100 calories and six grams of protein.

Reviews: Bocandy.com Variety Box

It seems that half of my reviews lately have come via free products that have been sent to me and today's review is no different.  One of the owners of bocandy.com reached out to me and asked if I'd be interested in trying out a sample box of some of their products.  Being the out of control sugar addict that I am, I naturally said yes.  That led them to so graciously send me a box of free samples and you see some of those above (sorry, I ate some of them before I could knock out a picture.  My bad.).

Review: Mrs. Fields Peanut Butter Chip Nibblers Cookies

So here we go...time for the last review of the three new Nibblers cookies that Mrs. Fields is releasing to the grocery market.  These cookies are bite-sized, fudge dipped and soft-baked, so they've got all sorts of additional deliciousness all wrapped up into their tiny little package.  Each box of these Mrs. Fields Peanut Butter Nibblers Cookies is foil wrapped for freshness and within that freshness wrapping, there are fifteen cookies.  Each serving is measured out to be two cookies (Who can stop at just two?!) and those servings weigh out to 120 calories.

Review: Mrs. Fields Double Chocolate Fudge Nibblers Cookies

I mentioned in my previous review that Mrs. Fields sent me a box of three different flavors of cookies that they'd be using for their foray into the grocery products industry and that review got a very positive results.  It was off of that positive result that I was anxious to dive into another review...wait...who am I kidding?  I was anxious to dive into another review because I LOVE cookies.  So, today I'm going to take a look at this box of Mrs. Fields Double Chocolate Fudge Nibblers Cookies.  Each box contains fifteen bite-sized, fudge-dipped and soft-baked cookies and a serving (two cookies) will set you back 120 calories.

Review: Mrs. Fields Milk Chocolate Chip Nibblers Cookies

Mall icon Mrs. Fields has decided to enter into the grocery store product foray and as part of that entrance, they were kind enough to send me boxes of their new flavors along with some special promotional packaging, which really amused me and naturally was too stupid to take a photograph of before ripping it up and throwing it into the garbage.  The packaging revolved around the milk and cookies motif and included a small glass bottle for milk and red and white checkerboard napkins.  From a presentation perspective, I've got to give them credit for creativity.  Anyway, for my first review, I figured it would only be fitting to review one of the most classic cookies that there is with this review of a box of Mrs. Fields Milk Chocolate Chip Nibblers Cookies.  Each box contains fifteen cookies wrapped in a foil wrapper and being that these are called Nibblers, they are bite-sized, fudge dipped and also soft-baked.

Review: Ben & Jerry's Froyo Low-Fat Half Baked Frozen Yogurt

I think it has been a bit since I've done a Ben & Jerry's review and I guess I can think of today's review as kind of a re-review, except with a slightly different spin.  I previously reviewed the full ice cream version of this flavor, but today I'm looking at the low-fat version in this review of a pint of Ben & Jerry's Froyo Low-Fat Half Baked Frozen Yogurt that I picked up on sale at Meijer for $3.00.  Each pint contains the typical four half-cup servings and each serving clocks in at a semi-economical (for a dessert) 200 calorie load.

Review: PowerCrunch Original Peanut Butter Fudge Protein Energy Bar

My first adventure into PowerCrunch land was quite a fun one.  I didn't go in expecting a lot out of the bar, but by the end of my review, I was downright delighted by not only how far the bar exceeded by expectations, but also by how darn good that bar.  So, to say that this PowerCrunch Original Peanut Butter Fudge Protein Energy Bar had some solid expectations going into it would be an understatement.  Expectations notwithstanding, I picked up this bar on sale at Kroger for $1.25 and it comes in at 1.4 ounces with 200 calories and thirteen grams of protein, so it's about average in the nutrition bar/protein bar type of realm.

Review: Private Selection Chocolate Hazelnut Fudge Truffle Ice Cream

My binge through Private Selection products and through the Kroger family of stores continues this week with another review of one of their store branded (sort of) products in this pint of Private Selection Chocolate Hazelnut Fudge Truffle Ice Cream.  Some of the prior reviews have been hit or miss, so this will be another notch to determine whether positive or negative reviews are a trend in either direction.  Like the others, I picked this one up in a special sale at Kroger for $0.99.  Each pint contains the typical four half-cup servings and each serving of gourmet ice cream clocks in at 220 calories.

Review: Private Selection Cinnamon Chocolate Ice Cream

When I started this blog, it was my intent to focus only on brands that were available for mass purchases and not on specific store brands.  I've mostly stuck to that intent throughout the two years that this blog has been exposed to the world, but I figured that I could abandon that now with the subject of today's review.  Private Selection is the house brand from the Kroger family of stores and since there are over two thousand of these stores spread across the United States, a house brand at a store chain as big as this is essentially a name brand, so that means it qualifies for the blog!  These are also labeled as gourmet products, so how could I resist reviewing something so fancy?  Introduction to Private Selection aside, I picked up this pint of Private Selection Cinnamon Chocolate Ice Cream on sale at Kroger on sale for $0.99 and each of the four servings is 230 calories of store brand goodness.

Review: Genisoy Chocolate Fudge Brownie Protein Bar

To say I was appalled by last (and first) Genisoy review would be an understatement.  It was absolutely terrible and I ended up trashing the second half of the bar.  So, I was not exactly excited to dive into this review of the Genisoy Chocolate Fudge Brownie Protein Bar that I picked up in the same shopping trip to Kroger for $1.00.  This bar is 1.98 ounces and comes in at 210 calories and ten grams of protein.  It's obviously soy based as well.

Review: Genisoy Chunky Peanut Butter Fudge Energy Bar

I've been on a soy kick recently.  Actually, that's not true.  What is really happening is that I've made my way through most of the non-soy products in my stores, so the soy products are about all that is left for me to review.  It's because of this that I picked up this Genisoy Chunky Peanut Butter Fudge Energy Bar on sale at Kroger for $1.00 for today's review.  The bar itself is 1.98 ounces and has 220 calories with ten grams of protein.
